INSTRUCTIONS TO AUTHORS Journal International des Sciences de la Vigne et du Vin J. Int. Sci. Vigne Vin The Journal international des sciences de la vigne et du vin publishes in English original research reports, short research notes and review papers in the fields of viticulture, grapevine physiology and genetics, oenological sciences, winemaking technology, microbiology, sensory sciences, winechemistry. Articles are assessed by specialised reviewers, selected by the chief editors. The authors commit that manuscripts subjected for publication are not presented simultaneously to another scientific journal. Manuscripts must be sent by e-mail [email protected] to the secretarial staff: Marylène Perreaud. Research notes should not contain more than 1 500 words, two illustrations (figure and/or table) and 5 bibliographical references ; the summary should not exceed 150 words. The notes will be subject to an accelerated evaluation procedure. The responsibility to provide a paper written in a reasonable standard of English lies with the author. Editors and reviewers are not responsible for making language corrections. Submission : The text must be printed with double spacing,on one side only, and with a margin of at least 5 cm. Pages and lines are to be numbered. The text will be in an electronic form PDF.The figures and tables must be included in the manuscript. We suggest authors consider using a language editing service to improve the English language usage and quality of a paper. The original articles should include: 1) A brief, precise title, without abbreviations or chemical formulas (except for isotopes). 2) The surname of the author, preceded by the first name in full. 3) The full written name and address (with telephone and fax numbers, e-mail address) of the establishment at which the work has been done. Specify the address for correspondence. The original works should be written, as far as is possible, according to the following plan: - Abstract (in English and in French): A brief summary of about 150 – 200 words, should give the major findings of the investigation under the following headings: Aims - Methods and Results Conclusion - Significance and impact of study - in English and in French. - Key words: To enable the article to be indexed in document files, a maximum of 5 key words are to be provided ; avoid plurals., in English and in French. - Introduction: Indicate the objective of the work undertaken, in relation with results already known in this field. - Materials and analytical and experimental methods are to be given, in concise form but with all the details that would enable another researcher to repeat the tests. - Results - Discussion - Conclusion - Acknowledgements of collaborators, financial aid… - Bibliographical references: All references mentioned in the Reference list must be cited in the text, and vice versa. These should be indicated in the text, with the author’s name followed by the year of publication ; if the cited article is the work of two authors, both should be cited ; when there are more than two authors, only the first is to be indicated, followed by « et al. ».At the end of the article, the list of references should be drawn up, in alphabetical order from the surname of the first author and in chronological date order for works by the same author, in the following way: • Article of a periodical: Lambert C. and Laroque M., 1997. Chromatographie analysis of water and wine samples for phenolic compounds relesed from food-contact exposy resins. J. Chromatography Sci., 35, 57-62. • Work fully cited: Huglin P., 1986. Biologie et écologie de la vigne. Ed. Payot, Lausanne. • Citation from part of a work: Lambert C. and Laroque E., 1997. Seasonal abundance of Typhlocybinae at different leaf position, 135-141. In: Influence of environmental factors on the control of grape pests, diseases and weeds. ed. Balkema, Rotterdam 351 p. . • Thesis: Lambert C.., 1993. Recherches sur l’arôme et les précurseurs d’arôme de Sauvignon. Thèse Doctorat, Université de Bordeaux II. • Published paper from a conference or a congress: Lambert C., Laroque E.,Albert T. and Wilson D., 1996. Caractéristiques analytiques des vins de Cabernet Sauvignon brésiliens de différentes régions viticoles - Millésime 1993. In: 5e Symp. Int. Œnol., Bordeaux.Tec & Doc ed., Paris, p. 597-601. References to theses which are part of an examination are not authorised. The same is true for the notes « unpublished data, manuscript in preparation, manuscript submitted for publication ».The note « personal correspondence » is admitted in the text but may not be included in the list of references. Production process : We accept most word-processing formats but we prefer Microsoft Word or WordPerfect..Do not import the figures and tables into the text file.It is necessary to send separate electronic versions of the figures (JPEG 300 DPI) or tables (Excell files) (‹author, number, eg.Laroquefig5.jpeg or Laroquetab2.xls).Lettering (symbols, numbers, etc.) must be uniform for all the figures. The desired place for tables and figures should be indicated on the manuscript. Please send a hard copy for production process by postal mail to A print (after acceptance, for production process) will be sent to the editorial staff: Marylène Perreaud Vigne et Vin Publications Internationales - ISVV - CS 50008 33882 Villenave d’Ornon, France.Tel.: +33(0)5 57 57 58 24 - Fax: +33 (0)5 57 57 59 92. We publishes all manuscripts using electronic production methods and therefore needs to receive the electronic files of your article along with the hardcopy of the accepted version. Ensure that the electronic files match the hardcopy exactly. In cases of a discrepancy, the hardcopy version will be used as the definitive version by the production. Requests for technical assistance should be addressed to [email protected]. Correction of articles: Proofs (a PDF file) will be sent to the authors indicated for correspondence. They are to be corrected and a copy is to be returned to the editors within 72 hours.
