néonataux et prénataux. Création d'un protocole de soins palliatifs pour la mort d'enfant en
salle d'accouchement ou dans l'USIN.

Néonatalogie
Activités cliniques : semaines de service et gardes. Les néonatalogistes du service ont la
responsabilité de s'occuper des nouveaux-nés malades, de conseiller les parents avant et après
la naissance, d'enseigner aux externes et aux résidents en médecine et de participer à de
fréquentes réunions multidisciplinaires concernant les décisions et les soins aux patients.
Intérêts spécifiques : consultation anténatale pour les parents de foetus ayant des
malformations sérieuses, soins palliatifs périnataux, nutrition entérale et parentérale,
allaitement maternel, soins centrés sur la famille, informations aux parents. Administration :
responsable médicale des infirmières en pratique avancée, coordination du programme ;
responsable médicale de l’allaitement sur l’unité.

SECTION IV 4.1
ENSEIGNEMENT (ASPECTS QUALITATIFS ET QUANTITATIFS)
Charge de cours annuelle (cours siglés)
Enseignement de la majorité des cours du programme de Maîtrise en sciences biomédicales
(avec le Dr Payot), option Éthique clinique pédiatrique (2e cycle, faculté de Médecine,
Département de pédiatrie). (voir Annexe 1 pour les différents sigles)
Enseignement magistral, tutorat, monitorat.
30 heures de cours par année, au moins 500 heures en comptant la préparation des cours, les
corrections, le suivi des étudiants, la supervision des projets de recherche.
15 étudiants à l'hiver 2015.
Les deux co-directeurs ont créé ce programme de 24 mois en éthique clinique pédiatrique, qui
peut faire partie de plusieurs maîtrises en soins de santé (épidémiologie, éducation médicale,
santé publique, sciences biomédicales, bioéthique, etc.). L'enseignement inclura : enseignement
des 4 cours que nous avons créés, supervision des consultations éthiques, supervision des
étudiants pour leur thèse ou leur recherche clinique, évaluation des candidats potentiels,
évaluation des étudiants (résidents, infirmières), organisation des activités d'enseignement.

Supervision, Isabelle Leblanc, MD en médecine familiale (aussi
anthropologue) en éthique orientée vers la recherche. Les sujets abordés
étaient: l'affectation des ressources, le triage, la personnalité, le principe de
l'intérêt, et les opinions sur la façon dont les soignants et les étudiants
perçoivent la vie de différents patients. 2 articles publiés
2006-2007 :
Supervision, Philippe Lamer, Infirmier praticien néonatal pour un projet
en clinique néonatale portant sur « post-operative instability following
PDA ligation in preterm infants ». Un article publié.

Participation en tant que chercheure principale à une recherche
interculturelle avec les docteurs Meadow et Leuthner (É-U) et Dr E.
Verhagen (Hollande) au sujet de comment la culture des médecins
influence le mode de décès à la salle d’accouchement et dans l’USIN.
« Modes of death in culturally different NICUs ». Comment meurent les
bébés et les enfants dans différents pays : similitudes et différences.
Comment peut-on catégoriser ces morts pour mieux comparer les résultats
des USINs ? Article publié.
2006-aujourd'hui
Chercheure principale dans une étude bioéthique interculturelle avec le Dr
Meadow (Chicago) et des médecins d'Allemagne (Dr Orsoyla Genzel),
d'Italie (Serenella Pignotti), des Pays-Bas (Eduard Verhaagen), de
Norvège (Thor Hansen), d'Australie (Peter Davis), d'Argentine (Gabriel
Musante) et d'Irlande (Gene Dempsey). « Evaluation of best interests in
different cultures ». Cette recherche basée sur un questionnaire est une
comparaison interculturelle visant à éclaircir la façon dont différentes
cultures voient le besoin d'USIN, prise de décision par un substitut (de
l'autorité parentale), le principe du meilleur intérêt et les situations de
triage quant à l'allocation de ressources. Plusieurs articles publiés ou
soumis.
2009-aujourd'hui
Collaboration en tant que chercheure principale avec le Dr Benjamin
Wilfond (Seattle Children’s Hospital) et Barbara Farlow (mère d'un bébé
mort avec la trisomie 13). Cette étude examine comment les parents de
bébés vivants avec la trisomie 13 ou 18 (ou qui sont morts avec ce
diagnostic) voient cette maladie. « The family experiences of living with
trisomy 13 and 18 ». Leur opinion au sujet de la qualité de vie de leur

enfant et leur prise de décision entourant la mort de leur enfant est aussi
examinée.

2005-2009 :
Représentante en éthique clinique au CEDUSSIPE (comité travaillant pour
le gouvernement du Québec et pour l'Institut national de santé publique).
Ce comité étudie l'implantation du dépistage universel de la surdité au
Québec. Ce dépistage a depuis commencé à l'Hôpital Sainte Justine, et on
considère l'élargir au reste du Québec.

de données néonatale. Participation au comité à titre de néonatalogiste et
d'éthiciste clinique.
2008-2010:
Experte au Comité Ministériel pour la définition de l’offre de service de
procréation médicalement assistée. Le Québec est la seule province du
Canada qui a décidé de contrôler les technologies de procréation
médicalement assistée, tout en remboursant la fécondation in vitro pour
réduire le taux de morbidité néonatale causée par les grossesses multiples.
Ce comité décide quelles procédures seront contrôlées et remboursées, et
ce dans quelle situation clinique.
2009-2015:
Membre (pédiatre et experte en éthique clinique) de la Table de
consultation du réseau Québécois en procréation médicalement assistée.
Ce comité conseille le gouvernement en ce qui concerne le remboursement
des coûts liés aux technologies de procréation médicalement assistée au
Québec.
2010-2015 :
Membre de la commission gouvernementale chargée d'élaborer un registre
de tous les nouveau-nés après FIV au Québec (Développement d'un
régistre en PMA - En partenariat avec le MSSS) en collaboration avec le
MSSS: Ministère de la Santé et des Services sociaux).
2011-aujourd’hui : Membre de la CEST (Commission de l'Ethique et Science et
Technologies), du Québec. Le CEST (formé de 12 membres) est chargé
d'examiner un nouveau développement et les technologies et les impacts
qu'ils peuvent avoir sur la société.
2012-aujourd’hui : Membre du comité scientifique pour la future banque de lait maternel
publique du Québec (membre du Comité scientifique aviseur de la Banque
de lait publique du Québec).
2013-2015 :

Membre et président du Comité de bioéthique québécois en procréation
médicalement assistée, sous-comité du RQAP (Réseau Québécois en
Procréation Assistée). Ce comité examine les problèmes éthiques liés au
remboursement de la FIV et les technologies connexes et recommande des
solutions pour améliorer les soins cliniques et la distribution des
ressources.

d'enfants prématurés) : documentation écrite et planification d'activités.

2007-aujourd’hui : Pédiatre donnant des conseils à Terre des hommes (agence d'adoption)
concernant les enfants qui sont potentiellement adoptables et qui ont des
besoins spéciaux. Je passe en revue le dossier médical, parle à des sousspécialistes (si nécessaire) ainsi qu'aux parents adoptifs potentiels. Nous
avons créé un processus pour les enfants qui ont besoin de procédures
d'urgence (opération de récupération de l'œil, reanastomosis de stomie..)
afin d'accélérer le système, de recevoir leur intervention au Québec et à
être adopté au Canada.
2013-aujourd’hui : Membre du conseil d'administration du Dispensaire diététique de
Montréal, un organisme axé sur l'amélioration des besoins nutritionnels
des femmes enceintes, les femmes allaitantes et les femmes de statut
socio-économique faible.
