Association pour le développement des Véloroutes et Voies Vertes celebration of cycling AF3V Bike ride Vienna - Nantes 2014 In order to celebrate VELO-CITY Nantes 2015, AF3V is organising a bike ride from Vienna (VELO-CITY 2013) to Nantes (VELO-CITY 2015) Distance: 2222 km. Etapes de 50 à 70 km/day • • • • Austria: 322 Km (1 week) Germany: 620 km (12 days) Switerland: 130 km (3 days) France: 1150 km (3 weeks) Date: 30 May to 14 July 2014 Duration: 44 stages separated by a rest day in the Doubs: 45 days total. 30 May is the closing ceremony of Velocity Adelaide 2014. The ride will depart following a screening of the ceremony. Course: Mainly Eurovéloroute Rivers (EV 6) (see detail below) Objectives: • Promote Velo-city 2015 Nantes • Promote Euroveloroute 6 and local infrastructure • Encourage the creation of new VV (greenways) and the emergence of new projects Partenaires : NANTES-METROPOLE, AF3V et ECF (European Cyclist Federation). Organisational programme: • • • • • • May 2013: First contacts with journalists September 2013: Contact Swiss, German and Austrian partners February to May 2014: Reconnaissance of route and accommodation March 2014: Communication with general and specialist media Meeting with clubs and regional associations to promote local, national and European projects. A contribution of around €20 per day will be requested from participants, who will be required to join AF3V. This contribution will cover camping/gym accommodation, breakfast and dinner, but not lunch. Participants wishing to stay in a hotel will book and pay directly with the hotel. Feeder rides: Additional excursions will depart from different locations to join the main ride. Three have already been decided on and others are under negotiation: • • • • • • • Versailles - Angers Limousin – Loire - Allier Caen - Angers - Loire Paris - Orleans Brest - Nantes Roscoff - Nantes by EV4 Krakow – Austria More feeders are suggested in Hungary, Croatia, Slovakia, Czech Republic, Slovenia, Austria, Bavaria, Bade-Wurtemberg, Italy, Switzerland, Luxembourg, Belgium, U.K., Ireland and Spain.
