The AN/ASN-24, developed by the Librascope
General Precision Inc, Tarrytown, New York, USA. Stand B.36C. G P I , the principal operating subsidiary of General Precision Equipment Corporation, displays a variety of advanced aerospace navigation, guidance and control systems, components and related items. Included is a new lightweight K-band Doppler, the A N / APN-153, claimed to have an accuracy equal to systems ten times its weight. This equipment has been chosen by the US Navy for its P-3A Orion and S-2D Tracker, the A-6A Intruder and the E-2A Hawkeye. In addition, the AN/ASN(25) navigation computer, which provides automatic steering signals to the autopilot, is on dsiplay. Designed for use on air tankers, mapping and reconnaissance aircraft and transports, this reads out continuously desired track, nautical miles to go, and nautical miles off track. Also shown is a new all-attitude reference system, the C523 V A R S . Used in F-104J intecepters, it supplies 22 individual outputs providing data for autopilot, radar, data links, heading indicator, optical gunsight, failure warning, navigation components, Tacan, air-data computer, and fire-control system. Also exhibited is a model of the latest aircraft simulator featuring digital computation. General Precision simulators have recently been chosen for the Apollo manned spacecraft, and the F-4C and C-141 aircraft. At Paris, too, is a new lightweight generalpurpose digital navigation computer system— the AN/ASN-24(V)—now being produced for the C-141 jet transports. Finally there is a general-purpose digital aerospace computer— the L-90. On display is the guidance receiver used in the Seaslug Mk 2 ship-to-air missile. This equipment, which has been developed and manufactured by the company, is being publicly shown for the first time. Emphasis on the extreme degree of reliability essential to this type of equipment is shown by the use of wrapped joints for circuit interconnections in the Mk 2 receiver. The company is one of the small number of British firms concerned in the development of the C.F.299 small-ship weapon system, and their display features the early trials equipment used in the initial firings of Seaslug and the now-operational equipment used in Seaslug Mk 1. They also specialize in the development of the associated fully automatic test equipment for missile systems. For Seaslug Mk 2 they are co-ordinating authority for the whole of the service missile test equipment. Other exhibits include a selection of sub-units of the Mk 1 guidance receiver, showing the method of assembly; an experimental missile homing head; and a photograph of a long-range telemetry sender for missile applications. International General Electric, 159 Madison Avenue, New York 16, USA. Stand A.32. The Industrial Electronics Division of International General Electric is exhibiting much new equipment, including the new SR-3 primary heading reference; TJ-64 simplified mass fuel-flow meter; engine instruments for speed, quantity, pressure and temperature; the A D A miniature accelerometer replacing rate gyros; a range of the latest airborne electrical generating equipment and static inverters; and sealed relays.
