BACKGROUND:
Amy first fell in love with the sport of skeleton immediately when a friend dragged
her to an Alberta Skeleton Association Discover Skeleton session.
After just three years as a competitive skeleton athlete, Amy had a podium finish at
every Europa Cup competition she competed in during the 2005-06 season, earning
a fourth-place finish in the overall Europa Cup standings.
Amy wasted little time showing she is among the top skeleton athletes in the world.
During her rookie season on the World Cup in 2006-07, Amy posted five top-10
finishes, and placed seventh in the Overall World Cup standings.
Amy posted five top-10 finishes on the elite World Cup circuit in 2009-10, including
a silver medal in Park City, Utah, which set up a seventh-place finish in her Olympic
debut in Vancouver-Whistler. The Abbotsford, B.C. native built from this experience
adding three bronze-medal finishes in the post-Olympic season. She captured her
first World Cup victory in 2012 in Winterberg, Germany, added another bronze
medal to her mantle with a podium finish on her home track in Calgary.
Amy has a passion for sports and has an athletic background as a rugby player in
B.C.
PARCOURS DANS LE SPORT :
Amy s’est éprise immédiatement du sport du skeleton quand une amie l’a amenée,
un peu contre son gré, à une séance de Découverte du skeleton présentée par
l’Alberta Skeleton Association.
Après seulement trois ans de compétition au skeleton, Amy avait à son compte une
médaille à chaque épreuve de Coupe Europa à laquelle elle avait participé au cours
de la saison 2005-2006, ce qui lui a mérité le quatrième rang au classement
général de Coupe Europa.
Amy n’a pas tardé à se creuser une place parmi les meilleures skeletoneuses au
monde. Dans sa première saison de Coupe du Monde en 2006-07, Amy a compté

cinq résultats top-10, et a fini au septième rang du classement général de Coupe du
Monde.
Amy a inscrit cinq résultats top-10 en saison de Coupe du Monde 2009-10, incluant
une médaille d’argent à Park City, Utah, puis un résultat de septième place dans
son début Olympique aux Jeux de Vancouver-Whistler. La native d’Abbotsford, C-B
a bâti sur cette expérience, avec trois médailles de bronze en saison postolympique.
Elle a remporté sa première victoire de Coupe du Monde en 2012 à Winterberg,
Allemagne, et elle a ajouté à cela une médaille de bronze sur sa propre piste de
Calgary.
Amy se passionne pour les sports; au début, elle était joueuse de rugby en
Colombie-Britannique.
