THE DEPARTMENTS OF FOREIGN LANGUAGES, LITERATURE AND
CIVILIZATIONS PROVIDE SOLID RESEARCH-BASED TRAINING IN 7
LANGUAGES AND CULTURAL AREAS: GERMAN, ENGLISH, ARABIC,
CHINESE, SPANISH, ITALIAN AND RUSSIAN
The objectives of these different multi-disciplinary courses are:
• To develop a critical approach to texts and to a wide range of documents by
questioning our own methodological assumptions
• To analyze and understand the forms of complex language and the ideological
background to literary and artistic production
• To understand and assess historical as well as contemporary discourses to identify the
cultural issues at stake
• To practise translation and translation studies
Each course includes at least a year abroad in a foreign university, as well as internships

In partnership with the French Universities Lyon 2 and 3, the degree courses
