“Archivists in Association: Challenges and Opportunities”
International Conference of Professional Associations,
Madrid, 18-20 October 2007
The State Archives Office of the Spanish Ministry of Culture,
in collaboration with the Section of Professional Associations
(SPA) of the International Council of Archives (ICA) and the
Coordinating Agency for Spanish Archival Associations, has
promoted the organisation of an International Conference
of Professional Associations entitled “Archivists in Association:
Challenges and Opportunities”. The purpose of this conference
is to analyse the role that associations have in the new
challenges that the profession faces, as regards both training
and development issues and its role in society.
The conference will take place in Madrid
from the 18th to 20th of October 2007
and will be focused on these four general themes:
01. Archivists in Association and the profession
02. Archivists in Association and training
03. Archivists in Association and dissemination
04. Archivists in Association and the future

La Sous-direction Générale des Archives de l’Etat du Ministère
de la Culture espagnol, en collaboration avec la Section des
Associations Professionnelles (SPA) du Conseil International
des Archives (ICA), et le Comité de Coordination des
Associations d’Archivistes d’Espagne, a promu l’organisation
d’un Congrès International des Associations Professionnelles
des Archivistes sous le titre “Archivistes Associés : défis et
opportunités”. Ce Congrès a pour objectif d’analyser le rôle
des associations face aux nouveaux défis de la profession
: les aspects formatifs mais aussi leur projection et leur rôle
au sein de la société.
Le Congrès aura lieu à Madrid
du 18 au 20 octobre 2007
et traitera des quatre sujets suivants :

04. Associationnisme et avenir
