he countdown to the exciting
World Zaf 2010 continues.
To date, however, the actual
bookings have been slow with confirmations from only seven countries. They are Argentina, Chile,
Germany, the French Table of New
Caledonia, United Kingdom, Uruguay and naturally making up half
of the number is Australia. We have
surrendered some of the reserved
accomodations as we did not have
sufficient attendees to justify holding a large number of rooms. While
we are hearing of a large number of
Brothers and Cautivas intending to
attend we really do need to see this
translated into bookings.
We have been impressed with the
effort Bernard Lefèvre (Brise
Galets) has put into attending the
Zaf with his voyage almost halfway
around the world in his sail boat.
Bernard entered the Pacific at Panama and enjoyed a reasonably
comfortable crossing of the Pacific
Ocean. He visited a number of islands en route. He has been meeting
with Brothers at various tables including New Caledonia and now
New Zealand. We understand the
plan is to enjoy more of the New
Zealand hospitality and have the
rigging of the yacht, Papy Jovial,
serviced prior to crossing the Tasman Sea to arrive in Sydney in late
January.
We need more of our Brothers to
make the voyage to Sydney for the
Zaf. Built into the framework of
quality and pleasure there are many
options available for low budget or
even free activities. The all day
fully catered tours will include Sydney's landmarks and also the treasures usually hidden from the short
term visitor. With a good balance of
activities and free time there will be
the choice of walking our endless
beaches or the attractions of a vibrant major city.

We have aimed to cater for all your
wants.
The hotels are close with spectacular
city views and it is an exciting location. While we can suggest other
slightly cheaper hotels, balancing up
taxi costs etc. the Darling Harbour
hotels are good value and will make
the best use of your time in Sydney.
We are looking forward to meeting
you as you arrive and ask that you
book soon for the premier event in
the Brotherhood calendar in one of
the most desirable destinations.

Or, à ce jour, les réservations ont été
plutôt lentes, avec des confirmations

Table française de Nouvelle Calédonie, le Royaume-Uni, l'Uruguay et
naturellement l’Australie qui fait la
moitié des réservations. Nous avons
donc rendu un certain nombre de
chambres réservées parce que les
inscriptions ne rentraient pas et que
bloquer un grand nombre de chambres ne pouvait se justifier. Il est vrai
que nous sommes informés des intentions de nombreux Frères et captives, mais il faudrait qu’elles se traduisent en inscriptions fermes.
Nous avons été impressionnés par
l’effort de Bernard Lefèvre (Brise
Galets) qui va assister au Zaf en
ayant fait près de la moitié de son
tour du monde à bord de son voilier.
Bernard est entré dans le Pacifique
par Panama, et il a eu, dit-on, une

sforzo di Bernard Lefèvre (BriseGalets) che parteciperà allo Zaf
avendo fatto quasi la metà del giro
del mondo a bordo del suo veliero.
Bernard è entrato in Pacifico
attraverso lo stretto di Panama ed ha
avuto, ci dicono, una traversata
piuttosto confortevole. In viaggio ha
visitato diverse isole, ha incontrato i
Fratelli di tante Tavole, in
particolare della Nuova Caledonia e
quelli della Nuova Zelanda.
Riteniamo che lui approfitterà
ancora dell’ospitalità di quest’ultimi
per fare carena al Papy Jovial prima
di attraversare il Mare di Tasmania
per arrivare a Sydney in gennaio.

All Brothers world wide should now be in possession of an email advisory note compiled by the
New Zealand Captain and Brise Galet.
All visiting Brothers and Captives should bear in mind that accommodation in Russell is limited as
this time is the height of the summer tourist season. BROTHERS SHOULD BOOK EARLY TO
AVOID DISAPPOINTMENT. There is more accommodation than was noted in the advisory email.
We suggest you google Russell Tourist Accommodation.
There is further accommodation in the town of Paihia which is across the Bay from Russell. The
passenger ferries will cease to run before the Boucan finishes. There is a water taxi available at some
expense.
Transport from Auckland International Airport to Auckland City hotels has been verified at NZ$ 16
by bus or NZ$ 24 by shuttle bus.
Brise Galets, Undertaker and Le Jaunty plan on greeting any overseas Brothers and Captives that
arrive at the Airport on Tuesday 2nd or Wednesday 3rd March 2010. Depending on numbers and
arrival times they may be able to perform the shuttle duties. Early notification by email to any of the
above mentioned 3 Brothers will enable them to co-ordinate this service.
Dress rig for NZ Zaffarancho is full regalia. New Zealand Brothers are renowned for their colourful
attire.

Spring has been a busy time with
our regular Zaf's and a fund
raiser for the Cystic Fibrosis
Charity.
Following the publishing of an
article on the Brotherhood in our
national waterfront magazine
"Afloat" we had a "New
Members Zaf". This generated a
number of inquiries and we reconnected with some lost
Brothers.
Barba Blanca (Rod Gault) and
Cathy have returned from their
travels and advised us in great
detail of the marvellous
hospitality they experienced in
USA. The y enjo yed the
celebration of the 50th
anniversary and New York.
We are looking forward to
meeting the visiting Brothers and
cautivas attending the World Zaf.
The first to arrive will be Brise
Galets with his yacht Papa Jovial.

In the UK we have been
concerned for some time about
the difficulty of attracting young
potential members into tables
which have a high age profile. In
July 2008 Peter Youngman,
Grand Frère of Table of East
Anglia, reported to the Fleet
Council that he had contact with
a group of keen young sailors in
London and that his table was
considering the possibilities of
encouraging them to form the
basis of a new table in
Greenwich.
In Februar y 2009 Pet er
Youngman reported to Fleet
Council that the young men had
gelled as a group of trusty
friends, had met regularly and
had shown great enthusiasm for
the ideals of the Brotherhood. At
a keel laying ceremony, the
fledgling table began its “period
of construction in the dockyard”
under the watchful eye of its
mentors.
With an average age of less than
thirty years, the age profile of
this group provoked a mixed
reaction from Fleet Council. But
T h e p i r a t e t h e m e wa s
encouraged at their regular
meetings. A special diagonally
striped tie became obligatory,
and for every meeting, visit or
group event attended, a section of
the tie was cut off. It then became
immediately apparent who was
going to fully participate. Some
potential Brothers fell by the
wayside but their places were
quickly filled by others who
proved to be more reliable.
At the invitation of our German
Brothers, some of the group
visited Lübeck-Travemünde
Tisch which undoubtedly gave
them a taste of the international
hospitality of the Brotherhood.
the decision to pursue the idea of
nurturing the group as a potential
new table was made.
Experienced Brothers and their
wives were invited to meet the
young sailors in the informal
surroundings of a pub in St
Katherine’s Dock, London,
where the young men impressed
with their sociability and
eagerness to learn about the
Brotherhood.
Fred Bentley (the former
National Captain of Frères de la
Côte GB) from the Table of East
Anglia, and Tom Hill from Kent
Invicta were appointed as
mentors to the young men, to
guide them in the ways of the
Brotherhood towards the possible
keel laying of a new table.
In August 2009, as required, the
mentors reported “dockyard
progress” to the National
Captain, who had the final
decision as to whether or not the
“ship” was fit to be launched.

Mike Arnold decided that the
“ship” was well found and the
launch would take place at the
Grand Boucan of Kent Invicta
Table, on 31st October 2009 in
Greenwich. The new “ship”
would be sponsored by the Table
of East Anglia and be known as
the Table of London,
Greenwich.
Eighty five Brothers and
Captives representing seven
countries, attended the Grand
Boucan, which was brilliantly
organised by Richard Borley and
Nigel Jennings, the Grand Frère
and Scribe respectively of Kent
Invicta Table.
At the informal dinner on
Saturday evening, Tom
Youngman, the Grand Frère
Elect of the new Table initiated
the latest recruit in true piratical
fashion, and the “new boys”
provided appropriate
entertainment for the pirate
packed room. The decibel level
was off the known scale!

Frères de la Côte (GB) has put its
trust in these young men, in the
belief that they will acquit
themselves well and that others
will follow in their footsteps to
ensure the future of the
Brotherhood.

The following morning, Kent
Invicta had arranged an excellent
programme of excursions
including a river trip, a visit to
the London Eye and a sightseeing
tour in an amphibious Dukw!
The evening saw the formal
ceremonies of creating the seven
new Frères de la Côte, launching
the new Table of London,
Greenwich, and making Thomas
Youngman the new Grand Frère.
His father, Grand Frère Peter
Youngman acted on behalf of the
sponsoring Table of East Anglia.
The ceremonies were conducted
with great dignity by National
Captain Mike Arnold, and the
Master of ceremonies was
National Scribe Mike Brothers.
Gifts were presented, and many
canons fired!

Chapter one
Having been hosted on many
occasions in a truly brotherly
atmosphere, as in their houses,
their boats, their cars and
obviously in their hearts, Brigitte
and I would like to take the
opportunity to publish a big
ORZA to the Captives and
Brothers, who on behalf our visit
of 50 years US Brotherhood
celebrations, again surprised us
with their hospitality and time,
that they gave to us.
There was the spirit of
international Brotherhood no
matter which table we visited,
New York opened secret doors
and celebrated a perfectly
organized anniversary; Solomon
Islands welcomed us with their
natural treasures like the
beautiful sceneries on a boat ride
(thank You Al and Cynde), fresh
oysters and fish (thank you
Smitty and Capt. Go Go,) and a
wo n d e r fu l e ve n i n g wi t h
surprising rituals of the engaged
J o h n . Ve r y c o u r a ge o u s !
Chesapeake table managed three
emergency parties within 4
hours, probably an actual world
record. The Savannah table came
together on the terrace of Albert
and Alise, our home for four
days, Gary Johnson in Coco
Beach, after mid-night, managed
to offer a rocket launch for us to
l o o k a t . H o we v e r , t h e
AMAZING highlight of this
journey was to see our good
friend and Brother Sam Britton
with Roselyn since this was not
possible last year. Together with
former nat. Captain of Great
Britain, Fred Bentley with
Captive Sue, Bob Hadley with
March and daughter, Brigitte and
I spent an emotional Thanksgiving with Sam and Roselyn in
their beautiful home. We do look
forward to seeing Sam and
Roselyn next spring in Germany.

Chapter two
Christine and I had a different
way of enjoying the wonderful
and exceptional hospitality of the
US Brotherhood. After staying in
New York with Joe Citarella
(grand cuisine!) and Jane
Protzman (good cultural guide
for NY!) we enjoyed the great
party for the 50th anniversary of
the NY Table. This was followed
by an invitation of the San

Antonio Table, TX. We only
knew David Overpeck and Craig
Wright and their lovely captives,
Sissi and Cheryl, but nevertheless
they organized a wonderful
dinner with a lot of Texan
brothers within hours. David and
Sissi gave us their personal
impresssions of the town and
took care of us for a three-days
stay. David made brotherlylike
the very first contact with John
Dotter and his captive Sara from
Fort Lauderdale (FL) Table, who
gave us the opportunity to attend

family within seconds. Sailing on
the Atlantic with Walter and
Diana (thank you!) and a short
trip to Fred Bentley and his
Captive Sue (at the west coast of
Florida) topped that visit.
Both of us can surely say that the
stay with the US Brothers and
their extraordinary hospitality and
all the effort they did for us made
that journey through the US an
unforgettable experience. We had
been overwhelmed by their
fraternal welcome.

What does the Brotherhood of the
Coast mean? The Love of the sea
(Octalog # 8), sailing, meeting the
Brothers of other tables in foreign
countries to chat about our
experiences, making new friends,
and enjoying good food and
drinks. Following these goals, the
German Brotherhood had created
a new web-site for better
information about events and for
a better understanding within the
International Brotherhood. Just

IRELAND
This year the Fréres de la Côte of
Ir e l a n d c o n s o l i d a t e d t h e
organisation.
Capt. Brian Sheridan was elected
Grand Frére Ireland when John
Coyle’s term ended, John took
over as VI, and Paul Carey as
Bosco.
John O’Donnell was
elected the first GF of the West
Coast Table, and Joe Kenny GF
of the South Coast Table. Ricky
Butler is GF of the North Coast
Table.
BOUCANS
The Irish Boucan centred on the
Volvo Ocean Race Stopover in
Galway in May. Fréres John
Killeen, Enda O Coineen and
Eamon Conneely were the main
organisers of the VOR. It was an
absolutely outstanding success.
For the fortnight it was in Galway
the sun shone, the happy crowds
poured in and sailing was
everywhere. The Boucan was
held in a marquee in the Port and
at a barbeque next day.
The North Coast Table held its
Boucan on Tory Island where
they were well received by its
King MacRuairí whose title and
lineage goes back to 642 A.D.
(now beat that!). South Coast
held theirs in Glandore and West
Coast in Galway - a bit épuisé in
purse and energy after the VOR.
The final one of 2009 will be in
Waterford on December 18th.

VOYAGES
Despite bad weather, unusual for
the Irish Coasts, the Fréres took to
sea with Jarlath Cunnane and
Michael Brogan (veterans of the
NW and EW Passages across
North America and North Asia)
went to the Faroes in the hooker
MacDuach.
Séan O’Loughlin
took in North Africa to North
Spain. Wallace Clark sailed West
Scotland. Dr John O’Donnell
sailed to the Scillies, sighting
Breton Fréres there, and so on.

Capt. Brian Sheridan was elected

In occasione di una delle più

Mediterraneo, la Barcolana di
Trieste, i Fratelli della Costa

italiani hanno celebrato il 52°
Raduno Nazionale dei
Luogotenenti, dal 9 all’11 Ottobre
2009.
D’ordine del Gran Commodoro
Marcello Bedogni la Tavola di
Trieste ha organizzato un
riuscitissimo incontro che ha visto
la partecipazione di 45 Tavole
italiane attorniate da una folta
Tripulacion.
Nell’occasione sono state varate
due nuove Tavole, quella di
Trieste e quella di Aci (Catania)
che si sono aggiunte alla nostra
flotta in navigazione.
Il Consiglio Grande e Generale
della Fratellanza italiana, riunito
durante l’evento, ha deliberato il
passaggio a Fratelli di 26
Aspiranti, ha assegnato il titolo di
Commodoro al Conn. Momi Agati
della Tavola di Licata e di H.M. al
Conn.Roberto De Marchi della
Tavola di Modena ed al
Luogotenente Concetta Anfuso
della Tavola Ognina di Catania.
Nel corso dello Zafarrancho sono
stati consegnati i riconoscimenti ai
partecipanti alla 1° edizione del
“Premio Nazionale Fratelli della
Costa – Italia”, un concorso che in
base ad un regolamento a punti
elabora una classifica distinta per
Tavole e Fratelli che nell’anno
precedente si sono maggiormente
segnalati in attività ed iniziative
nel settore nautico.
Il premio per le Tavole è stato
assegnato a quella di Catania e per
i Fratelli a Maurizio Manzoli della
Tavola di Milano.
I Fratelli convenuti per la
manifestazione hanno trascorso a
Trieste e nella vicina Slovenia tre
giornate indimenticabili, durante
le quali, oltre a riaffermare la
coesione e la spinta propulsiva
della Fratellanza italiana, si sono
svolte interessanti gite turistiche,
visite a località di mare del litorale
e come gran finale la
partecipazione alla Barcolana,
fatta da alcuni con le loro
imbarcazioni e dai restanti in
qualità di appassionati spettatori.

10 years
Breskens Table
On September 19th the Breskens
Table celebrated their 10 th
anniversary with a Grand Boucan.
Just over 150 Brothers and
Captives from the Netherlands,
Belgium, England and Germany
were present at the very spot
(Breskens Yacht Service) where
this table was inaugurated. The
Brothers of the Table of
Amsterdam came by sea with an
old Dutch Navy vessel now owned
by one of their Brothers. They
were welcomed with a lot of
canon shots from ashore which
were answered with shots from a
small canon onboard. The Boucan
was a very pleasant happening
with a lot of “pólvora blanca” and
“pólvora negra” and many
ORZA’s. There was a lot of good
food in the buffet which was
served by the Captives of the
Breskens Table.

The entertainment was done by a
“maitre d’hôtel” who was playing
his act very professional. During
the evening various persons gave
presents to the Grand Frere of the
Breskens table who was very
pleased with these gifts. The first
Yearbook, in full color, of the
Freres of the Netherlands, with
photographs of almost all
Brothers, was presented to the
National Captain. There the
Breskens Brothers were so pleased
with this event that they do have
the intention to do this again in 5
years, so September 2014.

custom built for the purpose - s/v
POGORIA. Subsequently the idea
was taken over by a Canadian
"hook, line and sinker". They
chartered the ship with Polish
skipper and navigator. The close
ties
continued by employing
experienced seamen, among them
Polish Brothers (eg. Wojciech
honour that request. He also asked
that his ashes be given to the sea
from the deck of the Concordia
and, unfortunately, this request,
pursuant to Polish law, cannot be
honoured. We will do so
symbolically with something
personal from all of us.

family to attend the ceremony, at

the Bosporus. It is fitting that this
be done at what are the crossroads
of civilization, of east and west
and, truly, the birthplace of
international commerce. This will
take place in Istanbul on
November 17.

Farewell Brother Andrew!
61 years old Andrew died at home
in Trzebież Poland but for the last
18 years he was involved in
running the "Class Afloat". He
was a Senior Captain of sail

Island College in Lunenburg,
Nova Scotia. This foreign post
followed his long and wide
experience on other sailing vessels
under various flags. He logged
well over 400.000 nautical miles

memorial service in his honour.
The crew sent a message to his

The Polish and the Canadian flags
were flown at half mast for the
next three days after which they
are to be collected and delivered
with the Concordia pennant to his
family. On the internet page of the
College we read a eulogy penned
by Terry Davies:
"He will be missed in ways that
are simply not measurable; his
hand will always be at our helm,
his watch over us will be constant
and his leadership will live
through what we do with our lives.
Strab requested a family only
funeral and that we celebrate his
life at his next birthday. We will
We will remember Strab for many,
many reasons not the least of
which was his outstanding skills
as a mariner. He was a man who
knew no frontiers, a remarkable
internationalist and linguist who
believed ever so strongly in the
power of cross cultural and cross
national relationships, the power
of knowledge, the strength of his
own wisdom and the role of his
compassion and forgiveness. He
truly believed in our youth and in
our power to change the world for
the better. He was also a quiet and
very perceptive father to his
changing flock. He would keep
out a special eye for those who
struggled personally or with their
place on Concordia or Pogoria.
Whenever you thought he might
not have been watching, he was.
"We will all miss him deeply."

international recognition and wish

The National Zafarrancho
in Warsaw-Poland on 12
December welcomed visiting
Brothers Tom Youngman and
William Walker from the recently
established London-Greenwich
table of British Freres.
Two other special guests were
Tomasz Uminski and Henryk
Jakubowski. They were the crew
members of the Polish yacht DAR
OPOLA during a zoological
expedition to the Red Sea. In this
way we marked 50-th anniversary
of a significant and pioneering
sailing trip which practically
opened access to foreign and
fa r a wa y sea s for Polish
yachtsmen - in spite of
restrictions and difficulties of the
world divided then by the Iron
Courtain. The expedition lasting 9
months (1959/60) was skippered
by Captain Boleslaw Kowalski
with a little mechanical and
diving help of Jerzy Knabe. Both
of them in later years became
Polish Brothers of the Coast no.1
and 2.
There were more historical
occassions to mark: A famous and
revered in Poland sail training
ship, the "White Fregate" DAR
POMORZA was built exactly 100
years ago. Nowadays she is
moored at Gdynia harbour as a
floating museum-ship.
Finally admission of three new
Brothers brought our Musterrole
to the number 117. Eighty six of
Brothers are alive. We have had
many "golpes de canon" and
"orzas" to keep it in that way…

U.S. 50th ANNIVERSARY
The U.S. 50th Anniversary hosted
by the Table of New York turned
out to be a spectacular event held
In New York City in the South
Street Seaport area.
Those Brothers who attended will
attest to the fact that it was a
double celebration. Not only was
it the 50th anniversary of the U.S.
Brotherhood of the Coast, but it
was above all the 50th
Anniversary of the Table of New
York which started it all
established by John Pflieger in
November of 1959.
The Anniversary Zaf was
attended by several important
International Brothers such as,

Chile, Heinz Scheel National
Captain Germany, German Voss
past National Captain Argentina,
Christian Brandenburger Vigie
from Germany, Jean Pommeret
representative from France
representing the Table of

least National Captain U.S.A.

Art Steiner, the oldest U.S. active
flag, was one of the speakers who
reminded us that the Brothers of
the Coast are lovers of the sea
whose primary interest is to have
fun. National Captain Tom
Collier told us that in our past we
had some great leaders such as
René Fiechter and Sam Britton to
whom we owe a dept of gratitude.
On the subject of a dept of
gratitude, I am extremely thankful
for the hard work and dedication
from the Brothers and Captives of
the Table of New York whose
devotion persisted to the end.
Also of notable mention was the
camaraderie, friendship and love
which has come to signify a
gathering of the Brothers of the
Coast was at this event forever
present.

de la Nef océane, il a choisi la Table
de Lisbonne au Portugal comme son
Port d’attache, et fut patronné par
homme d'honneur et d'exemple,
ami fidèle c'était Riquet,
extraordinaire fleuron de notre table !

THE BOCLIST
How you can help with
maintaining it updated
It has now been 17 years since the
Boclist was started with 18 names on
it. Today, it has 2267 brothers listed
on it representing 31 countries.
With the list now well over 2000, it
has become increasingly difficult to
keep it up to date with the same tools
and methods that I have been using
so far. Fortunately, in addition to
investing a little money to acquire
more powerful software, I have also
found help within the brotherhood
and our friends.
But the brothers themselves could
help me by doing a few things that
will go a long way in making the job
of maintaining the boclist easier.
First is to address requests to be
a d d ed t o t h e lis t on ly t o
[email protected] , indicating
your first name, last name and the
name of your table and not use any
other address or method. If you
requested directly to be added to the
list from within the site, I will be left
with an email address without name
and without indication of your table
attached to it and after a few years I
might have difficulties in identifying
that address. When I update the list, I
first download from the site the list
of addresses and all I get are email
addresses, no names. I then compare
that list with my own list which has
addresses. If I come across an email
address with no name, I have to start
searching in my archives and this is
very time consuming and does not
always yield results.
Second, I would prefer to have only
one address for each brother. As of
today, there are 2429 addresses on
the site but for only 2267 brothers.
That means that 138 addresses are
either second, sometimes third
address for the same brother and it
makes comparing the list of 2429
with the list of 2267 all that more
complicated.
Third, I would prefer that vigies and
captains send me their list on a
spreadsheet and not a word
document or even a picture of their
list. If I have to retype the addresses
manually, there is always a high risk
of typo. Whenever you send the list,

make sure that the typing is correct,
no comma instead of a dot and no
blank trailing the address.
Last, whenever you change your
address, do not forget to close your
account on the old one, or at least let
me know to delete the old one. As of
today, there are 142 addresses which
are "soft" bouncing. This means
addresses still active but not
accepting messages, either because
the mailbox is full, or there is a
problem with the server.
I have started deleting all addresses
which have been bouncing for more
than a year, but it would help to let
me know of addresses which should
no longer be used. The "soft"
bouncing addresses are listed in italic
and bold characters on the list.
With or without those things, I will
anyway continue to do my best to
keep the list as complete and as
reliable as possible so that most of
you can continue to receive TTP and
official notifications from Secoin via
email. If you don't receive them, it
means that your address is not
included on the list and you should
ask to be included by asking me at
[email protected] and not other
address. Please do not forget to
indicate your first name, last name
and the name of your table.
Un petit coup de main
pour sa tenue à jour
Cela fait maintenant 17 ans que la
Boclist existe avec au départ
seulement 18 noms. Aujourd'hui elle
comporte 2267 Frères venant de 31
pays différents.
Avec une liste dépassant les 2000
adresses, la tenue à jour est devenue
de plus en plus difficile à maintenir
avec les mêmes méthodes et outils.
J'ai donc investi un peu d'argent dans
un logiciel plus puissant et j'ai
également bénéficie de l'aide d'amis
de la Confrérie.
Mais les Frères eux-mêmes peuvent
m'aider a rendre la tenue a jour plus
facile grâce à quelques règles
simples mais efficaces pour moi.
Premièrement, adressez vos
demandes d'inscription
e x c l u s i v e m e n t
à
[email protected]. N'utilisez
aucune autre adresse et ne faites pas
votre demande par l'intermédiaire du
site car dans ce dernier cas seule
l'adresse email est inscrite, sans
mention du nom ni de la table.
Lorsque je télécharge la liste des
membres du site pour la comparer a
ma liste, je ne reçois du site qu'une
liste d'adresses email sans nom ni
prénom. Si donc je me trouve
confronté à une adresse email pour
laquelle je n'ai pas de nom, je dois
aller chercher dans mes archives,
sans résultat garanti, mais avec une
perte de temps qui, elle, est garantie.
Deuxièmement, je préférerais si ce
n'est pas indispensable, n'avoir
qu'une adresse par Frère. Par
exemple, aujourd'hui même, il y a sur
le site 2429 adresses inscrites pour
un total de 2267 Frères. La
différence de 138 vient de ce que
certains sont inscrits avec deux,
parfois trois adresses. Du coup,
comparer une liste de 2267 avec une
de 2429 devient un peu plus
compliquée.
Troisièmement, je préférerai que les
listes qui me sont communiquées
pour vérification ou addition le
soient en utilisant un format tableur,
soit Excel, Lotus ou équivalent. Je
reçois parfois des listes en format
Word ou même jpeg, et je dois dans
ce cas retaper le contenu
manuellement avec toutes les erreurs
possibles que cela comporte. Je
reçois également des listes avec des
erreurs difficiles à identifier comme
par exemple un espace après
l'adresse, invisible à l'oeil mais
visible par l'ordinateur qui ne peut
accepter comme identique la même
adresse sans l'espace (même chose
pour une virgule au lieu d'un point).
Et enfin, lorsque vous changez
d'adresse ou que vous fermez un
compte, faites-le moi savoir. En ce
moment, il y a sur la liste 142
adresses qui sont "soft" rejetées par
Yahoo, ce qui veut dire que les
adresses sont toujours actives mais
rejettent les messages, soit que la
boite soit pleine, soit qu'il y ait un
problème au niveau du logiciel du
serveur. J'ai commencé à annuler les
inscriptions des adresses rejetées
depuis plus d'un an, mais cela me
serait très utile de savoir quelles sont
les adresses qui ne sont plus utilisées
par les intéressés.
Ceci étant, avec ou sans le respect de
ces quelques règles, je continuerai a
faire de mon mieux pour que la liste
soit aussi fiable et complète que
possible pour que vous puissiez
continuer a recevoir TTP et les
notifications officelles de SECOIN
par email.

El Tortuga Post es enviado libremente por
E-mail a todos los Hermanos que se están
inscritos en BOC-Lista. Las Hermandades
nacionales están autorizadas para utilizarlo
de acuerdo a sus necesidades: copias,
traducciones parciales, etc, con la condición
sin embargo que siempre se indique la
fuente. Por su parte, los Vigías
internacionales comunicarán con uno u otro
de los redactores o a SECOIN las noticias
de su fraternidad. Estos comunicados serán
escritos en una de los cuatro idiomas
oficiales de la fraternidad, y no traducidos
normalmente.
The Tortuga Post is sent free by e-mail to
all the Brothers who are on the BOC-List.
The national Brotherhoods are authorized
to use it to fit their needs: copies, partial
translations, etc., with the condition that the
source always be indicated. For their part,
the International Lookou ts will
communicate the news of their Brotherhood
to one of editors or to SECOIN. These
official news will be written in one of the
four official languages of the Brotherhood
and will normally not be translated.
