A dream night for the children in Geneva
A dream night for the children in Geneva Football, song, sport, a gala evening and an auction. The programme will be rich in celebrities on Saturday, 13 June 2009 in Geneva for the All Stars ‘09 event, which raises money for children. Montreux/Geneva (Switzerland). The cast will be impressive and Geneva is likely to remember 13 June 2009 for many years to come. On that evening, at 7.15 p.m., the Stade de Genève in La Praille will light up for the All Stars ’09 event. This gala match will provide an opportunity for the general public to see stars of the beautiful game, music, sport and cinema in action. Organised by Gama Sport & Events, this global attraction will see two teams battle it out on behalf of two Foundations that work very actively on behalf of children: the Figo Foundation and the G4 The Ultimate Dream Foundation. All proceeds of the event will go to the two foundations. “Many prestigious guests have already agreed to take part and will be in Geneva for the event”, announced Gaetano Marotta. According to the Managing Director of Gama Sports & Events, who is also the match organiser and President of the G4 Foundation, the following stars have confirmed their involvement (see below for the list). Four prestigious trainers will be taking part: on one side Carlos Queiroz and José Mourinho, and on the other Fabio Capello and Giovanni Trapattoni. “It is a great honour for me to be able to play in Geneva and do everything I can to raise funds to bring happiness to children”, said Luis Figo, the Inter Milan player and President of the Luis Figo Foundation, which has been organising the All Stars match for the past four years. Luis Figo has left a video message on the subject, which you can watch at (www.gamasport.ch/allstars/html) The match will close with the launch, by WHO in Geneva, of a new animated cartoon about fighting tuberculosis featuring Figo. Tickets (from 25 to 70 Swiss francs) will go on sale on the website www.resaplus.ch and his points of sales. VIP seats and boxes are also available. A gala evening with an auction of objects belonging to the players will be organised after the match at the Intercontinental Hotel. Eric Valdieu, Vice-President of Christie’s Switzerland, will be the auctioneer at this exceptional evening. Tables are still available for the meal. A few more infos Gama Sport & Events. Founded a decade ago, this Montreux-based company is directed by Gaetano Marotta. It specialises in the organisation of events linked exclusively to football, manages the careers of several players and also deals with sporting rights. The Luis Figo Foundation. The Luís Figo Foundation is a non-profit foundation, established in March 2003. Its main purpose is to implement and develop programmes and projects regarding youth development. The Luís Figo Foundation takes action in areas such as Health, Sports, Education and Welfare with the main goal of improving living conditions and create development opportunities of children and youngsters in disadvantaged conditions. The Foundation establishes partnerships with civil society organizations and government related bodies in order to implement its projects and programmes. In addition, the Foundation promotes some international and high profile events that work as fund-raising opportunities to support the Foundation projects and programmes. Luís Figo is the founder and face of the Foundation that bears his name G4 The Ultimate Dream Foundation. Created on 1 March 2009 by Gaetano Marotta, it aims to make the dreams of terminally ill children come true and promote the self esteem of those who, due to the state of their health, are deprived of their full rights to life. The foundation’s aim is thus to help these children to forget the difficulties of their daily lives for just a moment. The G4 The Ultimate Dream Foundation works in close collaboration with relatives, doctors and specialists, such as the Hôpital de l’Enfance and the Hôpital du CHUV (paediatric department), both in Lausanne. The Stop TB Partnership. The Stop TB Partnership, which Figo represents as a Stop TB Ambassador, is an international health partnership whose secretariat is housed by the World Health Organization in Geneva. The organization's goal is to eliminate tuberculosis -- a disease that still takes the lives of nearly 5000 people every day, many of them children and adolescents.
