IVAN CERVANTES S'IMPOSE SUR LA NEIGE SUEDOISE
Après un premier jour de course marqué par les victoires de Petri POJHAMO (FIN – TM – E1), Samuli ARO (FIN – KTM –
E2) et David KNIGHT (IOM – KTM – E3), le MAXXIS FIM World Enduro Championship poursuit sa découverte du WINTER
ENDURO.
La nuit de samedi à dimanche a considérablement modifié les conditions de courses. La neige, tombée en quantité au petit
matin, a recouvert les traces de la veille. Malgré le retour du soleil en milieu de matinée, les températures sont restées dignes des
hivers scandinaves et l'expression "Winter conditions" a pris toute sa dimension. Pas de quoi, toutefois, refroidir un public venu
en masse aux abords des spéciales.
La catégorie Enduro 1 a offert un spectacle incroyable durant toute la journée. Après une lutte acharnée et un chassécroisé incessant, c'est finalement Ivan CERVANTES (ESP – KTM) qui s'impose grâce à deux derniers tours de très grande classe.
Le pilote catalan démontre non seulement toute l'étendue de son talent mais aussi qu'il est tout à fait possible pour un latin de
s'imposer sur la glace.
Peter BERGVALL (SUE – SUZUKI), sur ses terres, accroche son premier podium depuis trois ans, tandis que Bartosz OBLUCKI (POL
– HVA), au guidon d'une 125 cc 2temps, termine troisième.
Petri POHJAMO (FIN – TM), vainqueur hier, passe près du podium et se classe finalement quatrième juste devant Simone
ALBERGONI (ITA – HM HONDA) qui est 5ème.
Samuli ARO et David KNIGHT confirment…
Samuli ARO (FIN – KTM), en Enduro 2, confirme son rang de champion du monde. Après avoir mené la course de bout en
bout, il décroche son premier doublé de la saison. Son compatriote, Mika AHOLA (FIN – HM HONDA) est second.
Confirmant l'impression laissée hier, Johnny AUBERT (FRA – UFO YAMAHA) monte sur la troisième marche obtient un second
podium en deux jours. Le pilote YAMAHA, élu Rookie du GP, se place déjà comme une des futures grandes stars de la discipline.
Notons la belle course de Fabien PLANET (FRA – KTM) qui termine en quatrième position. Peu à son avantage sur la glace, Stefan
MERRIMAN (AUS – UFO YAMAHA) se classe 6ème, juste devant le champion du monde Junior, Cristobal GUERRERO (ESP –
GASGAS) – 8ème – qui réalise de bons débuts en E2.
En Enduro 3, David KNIGHT (IOM – KTM) double lui aussi la mise. Comme hier il gagne son duel avec Marko TARKALLA
(FIN – KTM), tandis que Björne CARLSSON (SUE – HUSABERG) est troisième. Les scandinaves Heikki TIMONEN (FIN – KTM) et
Daniel PERSSON (SUE – HUSABERG) sont respectivement 4ème et 5ème.
La très prometteuse catégorie Enduro Junior voit Joakim LJUNGGREN (SUE – HUSABERG) s'imposer une seconde fois
devant Michal SZUSTER (POL – YAMAHA) et Robert KAPAJCIK (SK – YAMAHA).
Très décrié depuis son annonce, ce premier WINTER ENDURO affiche un bilan très positif comme le confirme Alain
BLANCHARD (Promoteur): "La course s'est déroulée dans d'excellentes conditions. Aucun blessé à déplorer, preuve
qu'avec la FIM nous avons eu raison de croire en la spécificité de cette épreuve qui marque une nouvelle évolution
de l'enduro mondial. Nous espérons que la prochaine fois, les éternels détracteurs attendront au moins la tenue de
l'épreuve pour porter un jugement"
Les pilotes disposent maintenant d'un mois pour se préparer au GP POLISPORT du Portugal qui se déroulera les 6 et 7
Mai prochain à Guimaraes.

IVAN CERVANTES WINS ON SWEDISH SNOW
After the wins on Day 1 of Petri POJHAMO (SF – TM – E1), Samuli ARO (SF – KTM – E2) and David KNIGHT (IOM – KTM
– E3) the MAXXIS FIM World Enduro Championship keeps on discovering WINTER ENDURO.
During the night of Saturday to Sunday, course conditions had significantly changed. Snow, which fall in quantity early
in the morning, had covered the ground and tyre tracks of yesterday. Despite the return of the sun in the middle of the
morning, the icy temperatures are worthy of Scandinavian winters. The expression “Winter conditions” is here. It has not been
enough, anyway, to put off spectators who kept on arriving in ever-increasing number in the area around the three special
tests.
The Enduro 1 class offered an incredible show all day long. After a fierce fight, Ivan Cervantes (SPA – KTM) finally
stood out thanks to his talent in the two last laps.
The Catalan pilot has not only shown his huge abilities but also that a latin pilot can carry off victory on ice.
Peter BERGVALL (SWE – SUZUKI), on his home ground, wins his first podium for 3 years, while Bartosz OBLUCKI (POL – HVA),
with his 125cc 2 stroke engine, finished in third place.
Petri POHJAMO (SF – TM), victorious yesterday, ended the day, in fourth place just ahead Simone ALBERGONI (ITA – HM
HONDA).

Samuli ARO (SF – KTM), in Enduro 2, confirms his world champion’s rank. After having led the course from the
beginning to the end, he won his first double of the season. His compatriot, Mika AHOLA (SF – HM HONDA) ranks in second
position.
Repeting the results of yesterday, Johnny AUBERT (FRA – UFO YAMAHA) mounted the third step of the podium. The pilot of
UFO YAMAHA team is unquestionably a future star of the discipline.
We can also note that Fabien PLANET (FRA - KTM), coming in fourth position, have a great ride. Unused to the surface, Stefan
MERRIMAN (AUS – UFO YAMAHA) ranks in 6th position, just before the junior world champion, Cristobal GUERRERO (ESP –
GASGAS) – 8th- who realizes a good start in E2.
In Enduro 3 class, like yesterday, David Knight (IOM – KTM) has won his duel against Marko TARKALLA (SF – KTM),

Very controversial since its advertisement, this first WINTER ENDURO was well received as Alain BLANCHARD
(Promoter) confirmed: "the race took place in excellent conditions, with no serious injuries and was proof that with
the FIM we were right to believe in the inclusion of this event which marks a new evolution of the World Enduro
Championship. We hope that the next time, everyone will welcome the event"
Riders now have one month to get prepared for the next event, the POLISPORT Portuguese Grand Prix which will
take place on 6th & 7th May at Guimaraes in Portugal
