Does AdBlue age?
BlueInjection 1.6CDTi
Please be aware that the solution does age and it is important to check the ‘Best Before’ dates
on bottles of AdBlue before putting it in the car. Using out of date AdBlue could cause problems
in the vehicle.
If you regularly use your car, the AdBlue in the vehicle should never go off as it will be consumed
and refilled before it does. However, if you rarely use the vehicle, it is especially important to get
the quality of your AdBlue checked at each service.
BLUEINJECTION SYSTEM – ZAFIRA TOURER
Get the economy of a diesel with reduced harmful Nitrous Oxide (NOx) emissions. It sounds
far-fetched but the new BlueInjection 1.6CDTi engine offers just that. Currently available on the
Zafira Tourer, this system features new technology which reduces NOx emissions*, producing
a cleaner diesel engine as well as making a future-proof vehicle by complying with Euro 6
emissions standards.
How it works
The 1.6CDTi 136PS ecoFLEX S/S Zafira Tourer engine uses a selective catalytic reduction (SCR)
system to effectively reduce NOx emissions. Working with the SCR process, an additive called
AdBlue is injected into the exhaust. The ammonia from AdBlue reacts with NOx from the vehicle
and turns it into nitrogen and water, which is emitted via the exhaust.
* = Actual performance will depend on driving style, road conditions and other non-technical factors.

FAQ
What is AdBlue and where can I find it?
How do I top up AdBlue?
AdBlue is a harmless, colourless liquid made of water and 32.5% urea, which, depending on
driving conditions, may need to be topped up between services, in a similar way to fuel. AdBlue
is available from your local Vauxhall retailer.
To refill the AdBlue tank, the engine needs to be off and the vehicle needs to be parked on a level
surface. You will need to fill a volume of at least 5 litres for the system to detect the refill.
How will I know if I need to refill my AdBlue tank?
It is extremely important to ensure that your AdBlue levels are adequate in your vehicle. There
is a warning system in the car which will inform you when you will need to refill the AdBlue.
Please see the table below:
1. Remove key from ignition lock.
2. Close all doors to avoid ammonia fumes
getting inside the passenger compartment.
3. Pull fuel filler flap at the recess and open.
4. Unscrew protective cap from the filler neck.
