on the reconstruction of beirut and life there.
his philosophy resides in the concept that each city
has an energy of its own. after years of intense
work and international tours, Joseph Klibansky
now intends to centre his activity more around
the ideas bubbling in his brain and on his
overflowing creativity. as he says, art is his life.
“When i’m not sleeping, i’m thinking of art.”

works breathe with positive energy, reflecting
a soothing otherworldliness and casting a
spotlight on life and urban architecture,
scientific development, cultural changes,
fusions and mixings. “I really like to tell
utopian stories about human evolution. For me,
cities are places where a lot of people have
new hopes that they can change their lives or
make something great, especially in the big
cities, great melting pots of cultures and of
energy. I really want to portray a shift in
culture and I love to mix the Western world,
Asian world, African world – I really want to
make fusions.” The young artist has been
honing his techniques over the last five years,
including turning to sculpture, amid growing
success that has led him from New York to
Hong Kong, taking in Singapore, Paris,
Mauritius and Dubai. Just one of his pieces may
be made up of 600 to 1,000 photos, worked
together with acrylic painting. His work
expresses a superimposition, a compression or
an extension of space and time. Some of his
pictures even have a surrealistic and even
futurist tone, like his CD covers for the Dutch DJ
and music producer, Armin van Buuren.
“Every part of a picture is like a musical note, a
sound, not much on its own but, brought
together as a composition, that’s how you get
the symphony.”

de Klibansky dégagent une énergie positive
voire une spiritualité apaisante. Ils mettent
en valeur la vie et l’architecture urbaines,
l’évolution de la science, les mutations
culturelles, la fusion et le métissage. « Je raconte
l’évolution humaine avec une touche d’utopie.
Les villes sont pour moi synonymes d’espoir
pour ces milliers de personnes qui veulent
changer leur vie. Les grandes villes sont des
carrefours où se rencontrent des cultures
et des énergies. J’adore peindre les identités
et les cultures en transformation constante
pour fusionner le monde occidental, oriental
et africain », affirme le jeune artiste, qui a
connu une montée fulgurante durant les cinq
dernières années. De New York – à Hong Kong
en passant par Singapour, Paris, Maurice et
Dubai, l’artiste affine ses techniques en
s’ouvrant également à la sculpture. Une de ses
œuvres est composée d’environ 600 à 1 000
images différentes, enrichies avec de la
peinture acrylique. Son travail exprime une
superposition, une compression ou une
extension de l’espace et du temps. Certaines
de ses œuvres ont une tonalité surréaliste et
même futuriste comme la couverture des CD
du DJ et compositeur néerlandais Armin van
Buuren. « Chaque partie ressemble à une note
de musique et la composition finale à une
symphonie. Un tout harmonieux. »
