NEWSLETTER #4 What’s happening ? Thursday November 15 A blood-sucking Thursday ! Get ready for a thrilling and frightning night : tonight is scary Thursday ! Festivities will start at 6.30 pm at the Victor Ségalen University’s Conference Hall where the Brest-based association Art’s Not Dead (A.N.D.) will initiate their Walking Dead experiment. For those interested, they will give you a free make-up ! • 8:00 pm : bloody zombies covered in rags and hanging flesh will head toward the Quartz. • 9:00 pm : in front of the Quartz, the jury will give free tickets to the scariest zombies. • After a special zombie make-up session and a nice walk outside, it will be time for the Midnight Show ! Let the darkness of the Quartz win you over and brace yourself for a blood-sucking night. If you make it through, come join us at the Cabaret Vauban for the « Nuit TeRRRible » organized in partnership with the « Côte Ouest » association. The « Cancres » crew will welcome you in the depths of the Vauban to end up the night on the dancefloor. Let the dancer that lies into you rise and enjoy the music in a very cinematographic atmosphere... BRRRAIIINS !!! Braquages In French slang, « braquage » means « armed hold-up ». There are of course the « hold-up masters », such as anarchists or celebrated gangsters of the early 20th century. Unfortunately, there are also the dunces, the wannabe-thugs, the opportunists, as well as the kids, the looneys and the outcasts. Let’s follow them through five stories where blunders and suspense alternate slowly shifting the plot from dream to nightmare. > Thu. - 8:00 pm – Petit Théâtre ’s sday thurgram pro Crossing Borders#3 This year, the Crossing Borders program presents seven films. In collaboration with the Alès Festival « Itinérances » and introduced by the « Agence du Court Métrage » (A.C.M.), these films explore new cinematographic forms, mixing various narrative techniques with a rich selection of genres and stories. These films are real eyesopeners, introducing viewers to a new European cinematographic horizon. > Thu. 3.30 pm – Petit Théâtre Estran Picture of the Day Launched in 2010, this is the fifth edition of the screenplay contest « Estran ». The reading comittee that includes directors, producers and other professionals, has selected five projects. One of them will be presented before the « Braquages » program. Funny enough, it’s Ronan Tronchot’s short entitled Novembre that has been selected. To be continued... The Festival’s French Sign Language interpreter at the screening of Des Contes et des Couleurs. The kids’ workshop « Découverte du cinéma d’animation », to take place on Saturday, will be translated in sign language, too. > N ovembre by Ronan Tronchot (Les Films du Clan – Paris) 7.30 pm – Petit Théâtre Youth Against This screening is all about revolts, deviances and counter-culture. Afterwards, young people will be able to share their thoughts about the films presented and discuss with Claudine Natkin, director of the short film Petite Pute. In the afternoon, people working with yougsters are invited to a discussion aiming at improving their work practices and stimulating their introspection. > Thu. 10.30 am – Petit Théâtre > Fri. 5.30 pm – Petit Théâtre UNATC Screenings and Round Table Romania is the focus of the 27th edition of the Europe in Shorts program. Eleven shorts are presented in two different screenings : UNATC1 and UNATC2. The UNATC, which stands for Lon Luca Caragiale National University for Theatre and Cinema, is located in Bucarest, Romania. Quite a few directors come out from this school which is also at the heart of several collaborative projects.
