International Commercial Arbitration in Europe
ICC Pub. No. 537E – $70 | Available in English
The laws on arbitration of most Central and Eastern European countries have been remanded. In 1993 and 1994
alone, new arbitration laws were passed in the Czech Republic, Hungary, Moldavia, Romania, Ukraine and
Russia. At the same time, important developments on arbitration, legislation, jurisprudence and practice have
also taken place in England, Germany and Italy. Parallel to this, the European Union has expanded and interEuropean commerce and investment have increased. Many arbitration disputes now refer to European law,
although material on the legal framework of arbitration in the EU and on the application of European law by
arbitrators is scarce. The International Court of Arbitration of the ICC and the main arbitral institutions of Central
and Eastern Europe, which meet regularly within the "ICC European Arbitration Group", have decided to
provide information on all these subjects in this Special Supplement. (1994)

The law of letters of credit in China
ICC Pub. 736E – $110 | Available in English
Chinese law is very complex and Chinese documentary credit law even more so, not only
for practitioners outside China. This book sheds light on Chinese law on letters of credit
and how LC disputes are resolved in Chinese courts. It covers critical issues such as,
conformity of China’s LC system with international practices, i.e. ISBP, consolidation of
disputes concerning LCs and underlying practices, statutory limitations of action, recovery
for damages, reasonable legal fees, and more. (2013)
ICC Banking Commission Opinions 2009-2011
ICC Pub No. 732E – $122 | Available in English
New Opinions on UCP 600, ISBP 681, UCP 500, URC 522 and URDG 758. The ICC
Banking Commission Opinions series is the only publication of this kind that carries the
authority of ICC, representing the Commission’s official interpretations of how ICC’s
banking rules are to be used in specific situations. ICC provides bankers and lawyers with
essential rules and standards that have over the years helped to harmonize trade finance
practice. However, even though widely praised for their clarity and precision of language,
as with any rules, there will always be questions about how they are to be applied in daily
practice. The ICC Banking Commission’s Opinions have for decades provided unrivalled
guidance to practitioners and been referred to by judges worldwide in disputes involving ICC rules. This volume
covers all 69 official Opinions issued by the ICC’s Banking Commission during the years 2009-2011; including the
very first decisions on URDG758, ICC’s demand guarantee rules that have been revised in 2010. (2012)

International Standard Banking Practice (ISBP)
ICC Pub. No. 681E – $46| Available in English
This publication, an update of the successful ICC Publication 645, reflects international
standard banking practice for all parties to a documentary credit under UCP 600. Figures
show that more than 50% of credits are rejected for discrepancies on first presentation. The
new ISBP, by encouraging a uniformity of practice worldwide, should reduce that figure
dramatically and, by doing so, facilitate the flow of world trade. ISBP was conceived as an
intelligent checklist of procedures for document checkers to follow in examining the
documents presented under letters of credit. While not a substitute for the UCP, which
remains the guiding text, the ISBP demonstrate how the UCP is to be integrated into dayto-day practice. (2007)
Pratiques Bancaires Internationales Standard (PBIS)

site that claims to offer outstanding (but false) investment opportunities. There are also a number of pertinent
case studies that illustrate how criminals use documents to perpetrate a wide variety of very plausible scams, and
