ADVENT WITH SAINT NICHOLAS:
CUSTOMS FROM AROUND THE WORLD
Ten-year-old Holly arrives home from religion class eager to
enter a contest about the meaning of Advent. While she tries to
tell her family about it, they are too caught up in worry and banter about the details of Christmas preparation to listen. Later
that day Holly sits at the computer, feeling discouraged. Suddenly a surprise visitor appears - St. Nicholas! With the saint's
help, Holly learns more about the meaning and background of
customs her family and other families practice during Advent such as the Advent calendar, the Advent wreath, the Christmas
tree, Las Posadas, and more. St. Nicholas offers ideas as to how
some of the customs, e.g., decorating the Christmas tree and
sending Christmas cards, can be practiced in a way that celebrates the Advent spirit of expectation and mystery. As St.
Nicholas leaves, Holly can't wait to write about Advent. An
engaging live action story for ages 7-11.

and more toys and games - when his Guardian Angel, Theophane, suddenly appears. It is very obvious to Theo that Danny
has forgotten the real meaning of Christmas. Together they review practices like the Advent wreath, reciting daily prayers at
home and doing daily acts of kindness. They also recall many
of the great Scripture characters from the Advent readings.

CELEBRATING THE CHURCH YEAR WITH

and Christian family customs which capture that hope for the Messiah. Children aged 8-12 will discover here the deep meaning of
this season. Celebrating the Church Year for Children is a series
of innovative video programs which attempt to convey the power

then moves from experience to liturgy as the liturgical and devotional practices of the season are illustrated and explained. As an
added bonus, Father Rathschmidt and Gaynell Cronin, acclaimed
religious educators, offer original prayer services for home and

about the meaning of friendship and sharing. Oscar learns so well, in fact, that

THE NATIVITY
All roads lead to Bethlehem as God fulfills a
prophecy and a promise to mankind and a Child is born in a stable beneath a
shining star. On a
sure-footed donkey, Mary and Joseph make the
difficult journey from Nazareth, where Mary will give birth to her son. The
Three Magi ride their camels out of distant lands to worship the newborn king.
From Jerusalem, mad King Herod sends his
Roman legionnaires, mounted on fine horses, to find the Child he fears. And at
the bidding of the Angel of the Lord, humble shepherds make their way on foot
from their fields and flocks to pay homage to the Christ Child. Animated.

THE GIFT: A CHRISTMAS STORY FOR YOUNG
CHILDREN
Once upon a time there was an ordinary little bug who lived in a crack of the
Jerusalem wall. One night she saw three travelers on camels and she heard them
speak of a star leading to a newborn king. The curious little bug set off after
them. This delightful story (for preschoolers through grade two) is told in
rhyming verses and is beautifully illustrated. It is sure to remind young
children that the most important gift they can give Jesus at Christmas is love.

THE BEST NIGHT OF THE YEAR
It's a very cold night in the stable in Bethlehem. In fact, it's the worst night of
the year. All the animals are shivering from the cold. They try to fall asleep by
huddling together for warmth, but just as they doze off, the stable door flies
open and a visiting Donkey is led in. Children will love this imaginative
retelling of the story of Jesus' birth and will learn from the stable animals that
kindness and generosity are very good things indeed. Even on the coldest night
of the year, wonderful things can happen - so wonderful in fact that it can become the BEST night of the year. Grades 2 through 6. Guide included. Based
on the story by Gwen Costello.

possession: the stories of Jesus, ready to be shared throughout the world
wherever hearts are hungry. Even as the emperor escalates his war on
Christians, Ben, Helena, and their family of orphans celebrate the birth of the
Prince of Peace. It's the Christmas story, told as only the Storykeepers can tell
it, with tales of Mary, Joseph, the child Jesus, Herod, the Magi, the Shepherds,
and the later ministry of Jesus - all woven throughout Ben and his gang's own
action-packed adventures. Who could ever imagine that two lion kittens would
befriend young Marcus? Or guess the wonderful secret of the old wagon driver,
Milo? Or foresee the ultimate fate of the Storykeeper's most terrible enemy...and of the Storykeepers? Ages 6-12. Animated.
