FIÈVRE JAUNE EN 1957 — YELLOW FEVER IN 1957 D*après les notifications officicUea» 67 cas de fièvre jaune de brousse ont été signalé en Amérique en 1957, dont 35 en Colombie, 13 en Bolivie, 10 au Brésil, 5 au Venezuela, 3 au Pérou et 2 au Panama (voir carte). En Colombie, les cas ont été enregistrés dans les Départements suivants: San tander 17 (dans 6 districts ou municipios), Caldas 8 ( d ^ s 3 districts), Cundinamarca 5 (dans 2 districts) et Boyaca 2 cas: 3 cas ont été signalés, en autre, dans l’Intendercia de Meta. En Bolivie, 18 cas ont été signalés dans deux circonscriptions (Caranavi et Challana) et un cas (provenant de la région de Caranavi) à La Paz. Au Brésil, les cas ont été relevés dans 7 circonscriptions, dans les Etats de Mato Grosso (3), Goias (2), Para (1) et Amazonas (1). Au Venezuela, 5 cas ont été signalés dans 3 circonscriptions, au Pérou 3 cas dans une circonscription, et au Panama 2 cas dans 2 localités. En 1957, une nouvelle progression vers le nord du virus amaril en Amérique Centrale a été révélée par la présence du virus chez les vertébrés autres que l’homme dans le Munidpio de Sayaxché, Département de Fetén au Guatemala, et dans le district de Cayo au Honduras britannique. Le virus de la fièvre Jaune a été également isolé dans un lot de moustiques Haemagogus lucifer provenant d’une localité de la province de Colon au Panama. En Afric|ue, 3 cas ont été signalés dans 3 circonscriptions du Congo belge et 2 cas suspects (non-confirmés) au Nigeria. According to official notification 67 cases of jungle yellow fever were reported in America in 1957 including 35 in Colombia, 19 in Bolivia, 10 in Brazil, 5 in Venezuela, 3 in Peru and 2 in Panama (see map). In Colombia, cases were reported in the following departments: Santander 17 (in 6 districts or municipios), Caldas 8 (in 3 districts), Cundinamarca 5 (in 2 dis tricts) and Boyaca 2 cases; 3 cases were also reported in the Meta Itendencia. In Bolivia, 18 cases were reported in two local areas (Caranavi and Challana) and one case (brought in from Caranavi area) at La Paz. In Brazil, cases were recorded in 7 local areas in the States of Mato Grosso (3), Goias (2), Para (I) and Amazo nas (1). In Venezuela 5 cases were recorded in 3 local areas, in Peru 3 cases in one area, and 2 cases in two areas in Panama. In 1957, a further movement to the Nortli of the yellow fever in Central America was revealed by the presence of yellow fever in vertebrates other than man, in Sayaxché Mimicipio, Peten Department in Guatemala, and in the Cayo district, British Honduras. Yellow fever virus was also isolated from a batch of Haemagogus lucifer mosquitoes in one locality of the Province of Colon, Panama. In Africa, 3 cases were reported in 3 local areas of the Belgian Congo and two suspected (unconfirmed) cases in Nigeria.
