Investments in future generations and student retention
Ubisoft Montréal presents the CODEX program: more than $8 million to
support the development of Quebec’s future generations.
Montreal, November 12, 2015 – Ubisoft Montréal has announced the launch of the CODEX
program, an investment of more than $8 million over 5 years in support of student retention and
the development of the next techno-creative generation at all levels of education. The CODEX
program unites 12 initiatives endorsed by Ubisoft and developed in collaboration with major
players in the education sector. The objective is to use the video game medium as a source of
motivation and a learning engine at all levels of education.
“Our mission through the CODEX program is to share our technological expertise and our
knowledge of creative processes to prepare future generations for the challenges that await
them. We are putting all our knowledge of video game production at our partners’ disposal so
they can be equipped to motivate, inspire and teach the youth that form our next generation,”
declared Mr. Yannis Mallat, president and CEO of Ubisoft Montréal – Toronto.
The participation of Ubisoft Montréal employees is also an essential component of the CODEX
program and a key to its success. Yearly, hundreds of employees share their knowledge through
our partners, accompanying participants through the various initiatives as experts, mentors or
ambassadors.
“To us, CODEX is above all a story of passion,” continued Mr. Mallat. “A deep passion for our
medium, the video game, that we share and use as a force for academic success, from elementary
school to university.”
United for a greater impact
“I would like to congratulate Ubisoft Montréal for its exceptional commitment to creative learning
and student retention,” said L. Jacques Ménard, president of the BMO Financial Group, Quebec
and chairman of Youth Fusion. “I encourage other companies to follow its lead, since concerted
actions are the only way we will reach our graduation rates objectives in Quebec,” added Mr.
Ménard.

Academos, National School of Theatre of Canada, École de technologie supérieure, École des arts
