Orange launches Orange Cash in partnership with Visa across
metropolitan France
Following an initial launch in Caen, Lille, Nice, Strasbourg and Rennes in 2014, Orange
has confirmed its commitment to mobile payment in France by launching Orange Cash
nationwide in partnership with Visa.
Smartshopping makes customers' lives easier
Orange Cash is a prepaid rechargeable account for Orange customers, which requires
downloading the free Orange Cash application to a smartphone. Orange Cash users can make
simple, secure everyday payments in all stores which accept contactless payment and on
websites accepting Visa Cards.
Once the app is downloaded on their NFC compatible Orange smartphone, Orange customers
who have an NFC compatible SIM can simply follow the directions. It just takes a few clicks to
create an account and activate the service, and it works with any bank. Customers don't have
to provide any documentation to use the standard version. Over three million Orange
customers already have a compatible phone.
Orange Cash is a great shopping companion, and is already making purchases easier in
324,000 points of sale across France. Customers receive information on exclusive offers from
Orange Cash partners. The application displays deals located nearby, so users can take
advantage of offers from stores like Relay, Etam, Paul and Picard.
With Orange Cash, customers enjoy access to special offers and are rewarded for using the
service. The first 150,000 Orange Cash Customers will enjoy two benefits(1). Ten euros will be
credited to their account the first time they top up their account. They will get €1 cash back, up
to a limit of €25 per account and per year on all purchases of more than €1 made with Orange
Cash.
A trusted partnership for secure transactions
Orange Cash is the first prepaid NFC mobile payment solution from a mobile operator in
France.
It uses Visa contactless technology and is operated by the Wirecard group and Wirecard Card
Solutions, a member of Visa Europe. Orange Cash offers a level of security identical to a bank
contactless card, thanks to the SIM card supplied by Orange. A secret code is required for
payments of over €20. Users can also have it activated for all payments of €1 and up. If a
user's phone is stolen, they can immediately block the Orange Cash service by calling the
dedicated Orange Cash customer service 24/7.
This strategic partnership between Orange and Visa Europe is the expression of these two
market leaders' drive to accelerate the deployment of mobile payment in France by offering
customers a unique, innovative and secure payment experience.
An attractive payment solution for stores
In addition to enhancing the customer relationship at points of sale with mobile payment,
Orange Cash offers retailers opportunities to communicate with their customers and prospects
in real time. They use geolocation to personalise their offers and to manage and win the loyalty
of their customer base.
