Since 2010, Academic Training and Research on Computer Science and Electrical Engeneering from IFSIC
(Institut de Formation Supérieure en Informatique et
Communication) and SPM (Structures et Propriétés
de la Matière) have been brought together as a new
Department from the University of Rennes 1 under
the name of ISTIC. They are administratively merged as
a leading institution preparing for Bachelor’s degree
(Licence), Master ‘s degree, or PhD’s degree.

ISTIC offers teaching on fundamental concepts and practical
applications in sectors with high employment potential.
Bachelor’s students in Computer Science and Electrical Engineering have several classes
in common during the first and second years (L1 and L2), before they specialize for the third
year (L3) to graduate in:
The specialization of studies grows with the advance into
the 2 year-Master ‘s degree:
ISTIC training is influenced by the research in computer science and
electrical engineering developed within the leading innovation labs:
IETR, INRIA Rennes Bretagne Atlantique, IRISA, and LTSI.
a choice of courses by the end of the first year (M1) in the Master in
Electrical Engineering and Telecommunications,
a pre-choice during the first year (M1) for routing to a specialized second year (M2)
in the Master in Computer Science.
