TIGNISH CREDIT UNION - ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING
Tignish Credit Union Ltd. will hold its Annual Membership Meeting on Tuesday, November 19th, at 7:00 p.m., at the
Tignish Parish Center. The evening will begin with the business meeting followed by refreshments. A number of prizes will
be drawn for throughout the evening including two Grand Prizes of $500 each. All owners are welcome and urged to

ADULT EDUCATION/GED/HIGH SCHOOL CREDITS
The GED Program will be starting up again on January 2nd, 2014, at the Dalton Centre, in Tignish. Anyone 18 years or
older can sign up for classes at no cost. Instructor will be Gert Jones. Also GED classes and high school credits are now in
session at Holland College, Alberton Centre. There are still seats available and you may register to start at any time. Call
Tammy, Jessica, or Georgene at 853-0024 or just drop in and fill out an application and get started. Night classes are also
available in Alberton on Mondays and Wednesdays. Applications for the Tignish Centre can be filled out at the Alberton

COMMUNITY OF TIGNISH
At the Tignish Municipal Office, located at 209 Phillip Street, we now have Kids West every Monday morning from
10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon. This is a free playgroup to parents or caregivers with children under six. The children will
have time for free play, healthy snacks, songs, and stories. Check their Facebook or call 853-4066 to learn more about
their free service.
The Public Meeting on OFF HIGHWAY VEHICLES, hosted by the Tignish Community Council, is rescheduled. This
will now be held on Thursday, November 21st, at 7:00 p.m., in the Tignish Fire Hall Clubroom. Present will be Cpl.
Scott Lundrigan and Cpl. John McBribe. Any question or concerns can be addressed at this meeting.
TIGNISH SENIORS HOME
The Tignish Seniors Home will be hosting their Annual Volunteer Appreciation Night on Friday, November 22nd, at the
Tignish Legion, at 8:00 p.m. Music will be provided by Joey & Blair.
SESSION EN PRÉPARATION POUR L’AVENT ET NOËL
Le Centre d’éducation chrétienne offre une session intitulée « Marchons à la lumière du Seigneur » pour nous aider à

WESTERN REGION SPORT AND RECREATION COUNCIL
 There will be a FREE 4-week Learn to Curl program for anyone ages 18 and older who wants to practice or learn the
sport of curling. The program will be held on Tuesdays starting November 26th, at 6:00 p.m., at Western Community
Curling Club, in Alberton. All you need is a clean pair of sneakers to get started (stick curling is available for anyone with

 Ski and Snowshoe 2014 Trail passes for Mill River Ski Park are HALF PRICE until December 24th. This is a great
stocking stuffer idea! Passes can be purchased at Regal Cresting, in Alberton, or Tourism P.E.I. Parks West Office, in
Woodstock.
RELAY FOR LIFE BINGO
Tignish T.O.P.S. Relay for Life will be holding a Christmas dabber bingo on Sunday, November 24th, at the Tignish Legion,
from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. There will be 50/50 tickets, canteen, and door prizes. Last round will be for flat screen TV.

A MAGICAL NIGHT OF CHRISTMAS
The Parade of Lights will be returning this year! On Friday, November 29th, join us for our Santa Claus Parade. The
parade will end in the park where Santa will greet children at an outdoor dance with music by J.C. Tunes. There will be a

An Avon Christmas bingo will be held at the Tignish Legion (downstairs) on Sunday, December 1st, at 7:00 p.m.

WESTERN HOSPITAL LIGHTS OF HOPE
Memorial donations for loved ones will be received at Western Hospital’s reception desk, Alberton Pharmacy, Bargain Nook,
and Antrim Sisters. Please join us for the reading of memorials and tree lighting ceremony on Monday, December 2nd, at
6:00 p.m., at the hospital’s main entrance. Carol singing, hot chocolate, and cookies will follow. Cost is $5 per bulb and
receipts of $10 and over will be issued upon request. All donations will go towards purchase of Broda chairs for hospital
patients.
CHRISTMAS DESSERT EXTRAVAGANZA
Join us for a Christmas Dessert Extravaganza at the Miminegash Fire Hall on Sunday, December 8th, beginning at 6:00
p.m. This fundraiser is to help University student, Jesse Todd, raise money to travel to New Zealand to complete his final
year of training to become a teacher specializing in teaching students in Northern communities. As part of this 6-week
training, he must pay all expenses (approx. $4000) to fly to New Zealand and teach for 6 weeks. Tickets will be sold in

on or before December 1st. There will also be a 50/50 draw as well as door prizes.
MEMORIAL TREE FUNDRAISER FOR TIGNISH HEALTH CENTRE
The Tignish Health Centre will be holding their Memorial Tree Fundraiser on Wednesday, December 11th, at 6:30 p.m. A
special prayer will be said for all those listed on our tree before the tree lighting. We will be serving cookies and juice and
there will be a special visit by Santa. The bulbs will be selling for $5 each. The card will read, “In loving memory of…” with
the name of the loved one appearing on the card. Only one name per card.
CHRISTMAS HOUSE TOUR
The Tignish Children's Wish will be having their "Christmas House Tour" on Sunday, December 15th. If you or someone

I would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to everyone who helped make my day so very special. To all who attended the
open house, for your good wishes, cards, and gifts. Special thanks to my family for organizing this event, to Bruce and
Linda for the entertaining video, and for the delicious meal served after the open house. Having my son make it safely
