Stéphan Vincent-Lancrin, Classica-Répertoire juillet-août 2006 “Figueiredo brings back all Scarlatti frantic rhythm, the rhythm of his dances, his flameco influence, his Andalusian sun, respecting always its metric and classicism sense. At the same time, Nicolau moves the audience with both styles: on his slow sonatas, which are the main part of his program and also with more joyful pieces performed with a very incisive rhythm. With Figueiredo we savour the clave magnificent sonority, transparent, living large room for sonority, with very talkative highs and a well spiced temper…. He arises al the theatre and violence kept in Scarlatti music, taking us to mysterious and wonderful landscapes. He is very good.
