7/11: MTL 3, CLB 0 (Oduro 5, 80; Donadel 8)
 The teams met twice during the regular season a year ago, the Impact winning both. Montréal’s 2-1 on June 6
in Columbus was its first ever in Columbus, in six meetings there all-time. Crew SC won 2-1 Sept. 14, 2013 at
Stade Saputo, the only other victory by the away team in 10 meetings in the all-time series.
 The Impact won 3-0 on July 11 at Stade Saputo, their second league win by shutout in the last two years in
Québec.
 The teams also met in a pulsating Eastern Conference Semifinal Series. The Impact won the first leg 2-1 at
Stade Saputo, then Crew SC advanced behind a 3-1 win in extra time in the second leg in Columbus as Kei
Kamara netted a pair of goals, including the overtime winner.
 Coaches record: Gregg Berhalter vs. MTL: P5 W2 L3 D0 … Mauro Biello vs. CLB: first game
MONTRÉAL IMPACT
The Montréal Impact suffered their second consecutive loss on the road, falling 1-0 to Seattle Sounders FC at
CenturyLink Field. The Impact are in a tie for second place in the Eastern Conference with 6 points from 4 games.
LAST MATCH
 The game's lone goal came 11 minutes from full time, when Clint Dempsey got up to meet an Andreas
Ivanschitz corner kick and headed it back into the net through a thicket of Impact defenders.
 Sounders FC goalkeeper Stefan Frei was credited with four saves in backstopping his team's first win of the
season.
 Impact head coach Mauro Biello made one change to the team that fell 2-0 to FC Dallas at Toyota Stadium.
Kyle Bekker came into the midfield in place of Calum Mallace.
 MONTREAL IMPACT (4-2-3-1): Evan Bush - Hassoun Camara, Victor Cabrera, Laurent Ciman, Donny Toia Kyle Bekker, Eric Alexander - Lucas Ontivero (Johan Venegas 78), Harry Shipp (Patrice Bernier 72), Ignacio
Piatti - Dominic Oduro (Anthony Jackson-Hamel 69).
TEAM NEWS
 The Impact suffered a second consecutive loss, both on the road, after back-to-back victories to open the
season, following the loss at Seattle.
 “We played a quite solid road game against a team playing with urgency,” said Impact head coach Mauro Biello.
“We let it slip on a set piece, but defensively, we were once again solid on the road, and we created good
chances. We have to believe that we can score goals, and we’ll keep working on that.”
 It was also a second consecutive shutout at the attacking end for the Impact, after scoring three goals in each
of their first two games.

“I thought for the most part defensively we did well,” Biello said. “In possession we were good. We were
missing a little bit that final pass. Maybe I would have liked [to see a better] final pass a little bit more. But
overall, there were some good things from my team.”
Said goalkeeper Evan Bush: “I think we did not get as many clear scoring chances as we would have liked but
we created half chances and crosses. At the end maybe it could have ended 0-0 but we gave a poor goal on a
corner. It was not meant to be the night.”
Kyle Bekker made his first start of the season, coming into a central midfield role and playing the full 90
minutes.
Patrice Bernier also made his 2016 season debut, coming off the substitutes’ bench for the final 18 minutes,
after missing out on the first three matches with a hamstring injury.
The Impact were again without Didier Drogba, as they played a third match out of the first four on an artificial
surface, and also Marco Donadel, who has missed three matches with a leg injury.
“Obviously Drogba is an important player on our team,” Biello said. “He brings a different dynamic to this club.
With Didier up top, holding up balls for us, it makes a big difference for sure with the way we want to play and
the attention he’s going to pull when he plays. But we’ve accepted the fact [he won’t play on artificial surfaces]
and now it’s about moving forward. He’ll be ready in the next couple weeks.”
COLUMBUS CREW SC
Columbus Crew SC are still winless to open the new season, reaching a second successive draw in a 1-1 result with FC
Dallas on Saturday evening at Toyota Stadium. Crew SC are in 10th place in the Eastern Conference with 2 points from
4 games.
LAST MATCH
 Crew SC took the lead in the ninth minute when midfielder Justin Meram headed home a Federico Higuain
corner from the center of the six-yard box.
 But FC Dallas found an equalizer in the 77th minute when Maxi Urruti’s long-range rocket bounced off the right
post and rebounded off of Columbus goalkeeper Steve Clark, and Tesho Akindele raced onto the loose ball
and tapped home into an empty net.
 Crew SC head coach Gregg Berhalter made one change to the team that fell 2-1 to Philadelphia Union at
Mapfre Stadium. Mohammed Saeid came into the side in place of Tony Tchani.
 COLUMBUS CREW SC (4-2-3-1): Steve Clark - Harrison Afful, Michael Parkhurst, Gaston Sauro, Waylon
Francis - Wil Trapp, Mohammed Saeid (Hector Jimenez 87) - Ethan Finlay (Cedrick Mabwati 79), Federico
Higuain, Justin Meram (Tony Tchani 68) - Kei Kamara.
TEAM NEWS
 Crew SC came away with a second point from as many matches with the 1-1 draw with FC Dallas, but still
remain winless on the season. The club’s last competitive victory came in the Eastern Conference
championship first leg vs. the New York Red Bulls last Nov. 22.
 Crew SC also scored one goal in a game for a third time this season. They have scored three goals for the
season, tied for fewest in MLS (also: Seattle, D.C. United, Colorado).
 “When we look back on this point, it will be a good point. Dallas is a good team. Having said that, the guys feel
we gave away two points. We feel like we should have scored multiple goals,” said Crew SC head coach Gregg
Berhalter. “We should have won the game, but that's soccer. We're not complaining. That's the game of soccer
and we did reasonably well to create some very good goal scoring opportunities. Some of the ball movement
was pretty good and we're going to keep improving.”
 Said midfielder Ethan Finlay: “We'll take the result. It was a good performance. The whole group was fantastic
on the evening, and was a little unfortunate. We should have done better in front of goal. We had multiple
chances in the first half, early in the second half, to put the game away. It's early in the season still and we'll
take a road point against a really good team.”
 Justin Meram scored his first goal of the season, making a second consecutive start after coming off the
substitutes’ bench for each of the first two games this year.
 “We had a lot of chances tonight so it was good to see our offense clicking, but we needed to finish and put the
game away early. It was unfortunate with the goal (allowed), but that's the game of soccer, and we got a road
point against a very good team,” said Meram.
 Federico Higuain collected his first assist of the season, and now has a goal and an assist this season,
involved in two of Crew SC’s three goals for the year. He has two goals and two assists in his last five regular
season games; three goals and four assists in his last 10 competitive games for Crew SC (league and MLS
Cup).
 “We believe in the process, and if I ask you if you think we’re a good team, you’d probably say yes. And we
are,” Berhalter said. “We can do damage to teams whether it’s away or at our home in Columbus. We know
that. I think once we hit our stride, we’re going to be pretty good.”
MLS GAME INFORMATION

Mohammed Saeid made his first start of the season, playing 87 minutes in a deep-lying central midfield role, as
Tony Tchani was out of the first XI for the first time this season.

in international exhibitions, last facing Valencia CF from Spain in 2015 at
MAPFRE Stadium in a clash that the visitors won by a 1-0 final.
MABWATI MAKING IMPACT FOR CREW SC
Against FC Dallas, Crew SC midfielder Cedrick Mabwati entered the match
as a substitute for the fourth consecutive contest ... after five weeks of MLS
play, the DR Congo international is one of seven players Leaguewide to
make four appearances as a substitute this season ... in that regard, Mabwati
joins FC Dallas' Tesho Akindele and Mauro Rosales (who both came on as
substitutes against Columbus last weekend) as well as Philadelphia's Fabian
Herbers and Sebastien Le Toux, Montreal's Anthony Jackson-Hamel and
D.C. United's Miguel Aguilar.
HIGUAIN GETS FIRST ASSIST OF 2016
Last weekend against FC Dallas, Federico Higuain's corner kick assist to Justin Meram was his first helper of the 2016 season ... Higuain has registered
four consecutive campaigns of at least seven assists dating back to 2012,
when he first entered the League as a Designated Player with Columbus.
SAEID MAKES FIRST START
At Toyota Stadium last weekend, Mohammed Saeid made his first start of
the 2016 season after starting 18 matches in his first year in Black & Gold in
2015 ... by completing 51 of 57 passes (89.5%), the native of Sweden led all
Black & Gold starters in passing accuracy on the evening ... he became the
13th different player to start a match this season for Crew SC.
