Ortsrundgang – St. Wolfgang
1. Marktplatz
Seit dem 15. Jahrhundert betreibt die Familie Wallner das Handwerk der
Lebzelterei, Wachszieher und Met-Erzeuger. Das Haus, in dem Michael
Pacher wohnte, während er sein Meisterwerk fertigstellte, ist eine Besonderheit durch seine bemalte Fassade.
2. Wallfahrtskirche St. Wolfgang
Die gotische Hallenkirche wird 1429 erbaut. 1471 erhält Michael Pacher aus
Bruneck in Südtirol den Auftrag einen Flügelaltar zu errichten. Es handelt
sich dabei um einen der bedeutendsten spätgotischen Kunstwerke. Weitere Schätze sind der Doppelaltar vonSchwanthaler sowie der Schmerzensmann von Meinrad Guggenbichler.
Der Pilgerbrunnen, ein Renaissance Kunstdenkmal, 1515 erbaut, versorgte
zahlreiche Wallfahrer mit Wasser, nebenbei war er Hausbrunnen für die
umliegenden Häuser. Im Turmmuseum finden Sie schöne, alte Kirchenrelikte
und erfahren viel über die alte Wallfahrtskirche und die Geschichte des
Hl. Wolfgang.

Eines der bekanntesten Hotels Österreichs, berühmt durch die Operette
„Im Weissen Rössl“ von Ralph Benatzky

Seit 1893 fährt die Zahnradbahn von St. Wolfgang auf den Gipfel des Schafberges (1782m)

1997 eingeweiht, dient es als Kongress- und Veranstaltungshaus.
11. Kalvarienbergkirche
1837 erbaut und ausgestattet mit einer figuralen Kreuzigungsgruppe in
barocker Form. Wunderschöner Blick auf den Wallfahrtsort den Wolfgangsee und das Bergpanorama.
7. Puppenmuseum
Über 1.000 Puppen von unterschiedlichsten Herstellern wie Barbie, Mundia,
Götz, Himmstädt, Madra-Gene uvm.
8. Musikpavillon auf der Robert Stolz Promenade
Dient seit seiner Errichtung als Bühne für die wöchentlichen Promenadenkonzerte. Auf der Promenade befinden sich auch die Denkmäler von Robert
Stolz und Ralph Benatzky.
12. Friedhof
Persönlichkeiten wie Ralph Benatzky, Oskar-Preisträger Emil Jannings und
Ski Doppel-Weltmeister Rudi Nierlich haben hier ein Ehrengrab der Marktgemeinde St. Wolfgang.
St. Wolfgang Village Highlights
1. Market Place
Since the 15th century, the Wallner family have practiced the crafts of
gingerbread baking, candle making and mead production. The house in
which Michael Pacher lived while he completed his masterpiece is of special
interest because of its painted facade.
2. Pilgrims Church of St. Wolfgang
The gothic hall church was built in 1429. In 1471 Michael Pacher from
Bruneck in South Tyrol was commissioned to build the winged altar,
which became one of the most significant late gothic works of art. Other
treasures are the double altar from the Schwan valley as well as Meinrad
Guggenbichler‘s Man of Sorrows.
The Pilgrims Fountain, a renaissance monument built in 1515, provided many pilgrims with water and was also the main source of water for
the surrounding houses. In the Tower Museum you will find beautiful old
church relics and will learn about the old Pilgrims Church and the story of
St. Wolfgang.”.

One of the most famous hotels in Austria, renowned through the operetta
„White horse Inn“ from Ralph Benatzky.

Since 1893 the cog railway has travelled from St. Wolfgang to the peak of
the Schafberg (1782m).

towns of Strobl, St. Gilgen and St. Wolfgang with each other.

Opened in 1997, serving as a congress and event centre.
11. Kalvarienberg Church
Built in 1837, the church features cruxifiction group figures in Baroque style.
There is a beautiful view over the place of pilgrimage of Lake Wolfgang and
the mountain panorama.

Over 1,000 dolls from various manufacturers, such as Barbie, Mundia, Götz,
Himmstädt, Madra-Gene etc.
8. Music Pavillon on the Robert Stolz promenade
Since its completion has served as a stage for the weekly promenade
concerts. On the promenade you also can find the monuments of Robert
Stolz and Ralph Benatzky
12. Cemetery
Personalities such as Ralph Benatzky, Oscar prizewinner Emil Jannings and
two times world skiing champion Rudi Nierlich have honorary graves here at
the market community of St. Wolfgang.
