Located in a highly attractive countryside scenery embedded between
the Main river plains and the foothills of the Odenwald mountains, the
Market Town of Grossostheim comprising the townships of
Pflaumheim, Wenigunmstadt and Ringheim with a population of 15 900
is the very heart of the Bachgau region. Grossostheim has a
well-developed traffic infrastructure. A bypass road allows for easy
access to the industrial zones located in the community's northern
parts, visitors can take the feeder road to take them to highways B 26
or B 469, which will get them to the Frankfurt-Wuerzburg expressway,
and they can reach the Frankfurt Airport within a matter of 30 minutes
only. Aside from that the commercial and passenger airport of
Aschaffenburg-Grossostheim is another big asset for the area's business. The town center hosts numerous
attractive retailers and in addition to that a factory outlet center for ladies' and men's clothes originating from
the local companies' productions was recently established. Firms such as Dressler, Schuler, SanSiro (men's
suits), Pantex and Solo-Moden (men's outerwear and traditional folk costumes), Aubi (pants), Pesö (shirts)
enjoy wide renown. Grossostheims and Ringheim's 126 hectares of industrial and trade zones are a business
location from where new markets are opened up on a world-wide basis. The region is, amongst others, home
for Nintendo's European Headquarters - distribution of playing consoles (Gameboy), Rieter Automatik
Granulating Equipment, Ciba-Vision - research and development of contact lens, and for the Eder company, a
family-owned brewery company. It is also a place of concentration for numerous medium-sized companies
which operate in a variety of sectors in the mechanical engineering and tool-production fields. The privately
run Industry and Trade Park of the Wissler company provides for an absolutely unique type of service which
consists in letting hall and office facilities. This is where service providers and distributors working on a
world-wide basis have established their centers of operation : VIKING-Büroartikelversand, (office articles mail
order service), Infineon and Kuehne & Nagel, chip logistics, Hennes & Mauritz - clothing commission
business. Also there is a wide variety of local product, service and craft offerings available on call. Many
companies working in the construction and interior finishing sector offer their local services for all kinds of
investment projects. The community's forward-looking planning activities which were accomplished in the
seventies and the eighties ensure that local and regional traffic connections are fast and efficient. The public
commuting traffic system provides for time-saving regular on-time connections to the city of Aschaffenburg
and its central functions. Public utility companies guarantee an adequate supply of gas and electricity. The
community's supply and disposal facilities guarantee adequate connections and capacities. One of the
essential elements of the community's efforts to promote the local economy is the provision of ample space
for private homes. To that end the community has and offers construction sites for both young resident
families and the staff of local companies. Families with children are granted extra rebates on interesting real
estate and land prices. Despite the fact that prices for real estate in the agglomerated areas in the
neighbouring Rhine-Main area have virtually exploded, persons working for the community's local industry
