Yu Amatsu – Portrait A synergy of passion and art – that’s how Yu Amatsu sees his designs. “A DEGREE FAHRENHEIT”: individual, exclusive, different. Just like the designer himself. Original sound: Yu Amatsu Japanese Designer, Japanese “All these clothes are designed by me and it takes a long time of preparations, the clothes are like my own children and of course, I want my children to look perfect on stage and there's always such a plenty of things you have to watch out for. It's not like in a film, you can't do this fashion show several times like a scene. It's only one opportunity and it's very difficult to have a perfect show. So that's why I'm very nervous and I'm also worried that everything goes well because there could be always a problem and if there's a really serious problem, that's really sad then.” Yu Amatsu started his career in Japan in 2002. Two years later, he moved to New York where, amongst other designs, he created costumes for US actors and singers. Then, in 2009 he created his A DEGREE FAHRENHEIT brand. A name with a meaning. Original sound: Yu Amatsu Japanese Designer, Japanese “For me, of course visual things are important but also that what’s behind them, the invisible that's not on the surface. That's what temperature means to me. And my body feels a temperature which is invisible and it's this invisible aspect I want to transport to the visible with A DEGREE FAHRENHEIT.” Yu Amatsu is different from other designers and being different is maybe his formula for success. Original sound: Yu Amatsu Japanese Designer, Japanese “In general, you can say that there's always a design concept in the beginning. And this concept is the base for patterns, and the people who create the patterns produce the patterns. In my case, it's the other way round: I started to create patterns myself, so that's why for me it's important to start with the patterns and then to go on with the design. So it's vice versa in my case comparing to other designers.” The young designer continued to demonstrate outstanding creativity, skills and potential to achieve international success. He won the DHL Designer Award at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Tokyo in March 2012 including an international shipping credit that enabled Amatsu to show for the first time at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in Berlin. Original sound: Yu Amatsu Japanese Designer, Japanese “Japan is a very special market and that's why I found it very important to show my collection in Europe because in Europe you can find many new trends coming up and that's an advantage to show my collection here. It's the same with my life: I don't want to live in Japan or Asia only, I want to go beyond and that's an advantage for me to present my clothes in Germany.” And, being successful all over the world also means it’s necessary to have a competent partner. Original sound: Yu Amatsu, Winner DHL Designer Award at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Tokyo March 2012 “DHL is a global logistics company and that’s a symbol for my work: I create clothes which are based on my ideas and I want to show these ideas to the world. I don’t talk about abstract ideas but concrete clothes which have to be transported. So that’s why I like it very much that it’s a global logistics company that’s supporting me.” Music list TO: SHOW: Berlin Fashion Week 2013 Yu Amatsu FROM: RTV Film & Television EPISODE #: SUPPLIER: RTV Film & Television AIR DATE: EVENT DATE: Cue # TIME TOTAL SHOW DURATION USAGE TYPE* 03’56’’ CD Spine Info SONG TITLE COMPOSER LC Number PUBLISHER SOCIETY 1 0’60’’ Amatsu CAVT 001801 THE PROMISE Alexey Leonov, Freiderich James Sebastian LC 07053 Cavendish CAVT 2 2’56’’ Amatsu ZIK 027304 MINIMAL GLASS Patrick Chartol, Emmanuelle Hildebert LC 10483 Musique and Music ZIK The music is protected by GEMA (German performing rights society for music copyrights). Yu Amatsu – Portrait Eine Synergie aus Leidenschaft und Kunst – so sieht Yu Amatsu seine Designs. „A DEGREE FAHRENHEIT“: individuell, exklusiv, anders.
