Ich erzähle von meiner Reise A Performance Assessment – Printed Instructions Kapitel 1 & 2 KET German II In this assessment you will use visual prompts to help you tell a story about a trip (real or fictional). While narrating, you should demonstrate your ability to perform the following tasks in German: 1. Describing a trip you took in the past. The following information must be included: a) modes of transportation (at least two) used, b) the duration of trip (using “dauern”), c) what you took with you (use mitbringen and vocabulary for various types of luggage, d) where you stayed, e) and what happened immediately upon arrival. 2. Making suggestions. 3. Listing and describing things to do in the area where you stayed. 4. Describing how you prepared yourself for the day: on one day or on all days. Presentation/Construction: • You will present some pictures with a narration. The platform you use is up to you. Suggestions: VoiceThread (voicethread.com), Prezi (prezi.com), iMovie, Windows Moviemaker, PowerPoint (with narration as sound file in presentation). Image and/or audio editing at: http://aviary.com. Audio editing at: audacity.com. • Each picture must somehow represent/depict the communicative tasks above which must be performed. • Presentation should follow a logical narrative/story of the trip with a beginning, middle, and end. • Narration must be clear and understandable. • If you use a script, it should not appear on the slides. • Use pictures from one of your trips or find some using ClipArt or referring to websites such as jupiterimagesunlimited.com. • Pictures should be arranged neatly. Grading: • This performance assessment is worth a total of 150 points. • Tutors will grade the presentations according to the Grading Rubrics Additional Requirements: 1. Most of the presentation should be in the past tense using the Perfect (conversational past tense: helping verb + participle) • Description of location can be in present tense 2. Use wide range of vocabulary – especially from Chapters 1 & 2 3. Use many reflexive verbs A list of some of the reflexive verbs we have used: sich vorbereiten, sich kämmen, sich bürsten, ich setzen, sich beeilen, sich die Zähne putzen, sich im Spiegel anschauen, sich rasieren, sichanziehen, sich die Hände/ die Haare waschen, sich duschen, sich (etwas) abtrocknen, sich freuen, sich unterhalten, sich mit (jemandem) treffen 4. Describe the things you do in your morning routine a. Use “An einem Morgen…” or “Jeden Morgen…” b. Use some of the reflexive verbs (see above) 5. Use ‘in’ + accusative case to describe going into something: a city, movie theater, a shop, a bus, etc. 6. Suggestions (probably in past tense unless used in a quotation): “ich schlage vor, ...”, (present), "ich habe vorgeschlagen, ..." (perfect) 7. Describe what ‘there is’ to do in the location a. Use “es gibt” + accusative case (for things) and "Man kann..." + verb (for activities). b. Some verbs we have used: sich mit…treffen, sich unterhalten, Sport treiben, die Karten spielen, Schach spielen 8. Describe something that is nearby, or in the area, can also describe something that is not far, using vocabulary such as: “weit” or “in der Nähe.” 9. Describe an excursion taken while at your main destination. You may begin this description with "An einem Tag..." or "An einem Nachmittag...". 10. Describe how you or someone else felt (happiness, boredom, etc.). 11. Use descriptive vocabulary to describe a place or a person - Communicate how you like (or didn’t like) something or whether it was fun a. Use “machen Spass” –or- “gefallen” constructions b. You can use qualifiers like “viel” or “ein bisschen” 12.Use vocabulary to describe looking at something like a map, city plan, bus schedule, etc. a. Use such vocabulary as: ansehen, anschauen, angucken 13. Use several comparisons making use of the comparative form (-er + als). Going Above and Beyond (Possible Extra Credit): • Use connectors such as: “und ausserdem”, “…und deshalb”, and VERB KICKERS such as: “dass”, “bevor”, “weil”, "dass", etc. • Or more difficult constructions: sich auf (etwas) vorbereiten, etc. • You may state a preference using “lieber.”
