Ringier unveils its new-look Pressehaus in Zurich, to
reveal a new, more open, more modern and more artistic
headquarters building
Zurich, September 2, 2015
Nine months’ work were required to complete this transformation of the Ringier Pressehaus in
Zurich. Following its makeover, the 37-year-old building now offers its visitors a more open, more
modern and more artistic welcome. Energy has already moved in to its spectacular new Energy
flagship studio and has also opened The Studio, its new café bar. The ground floor of the building
greets the visitor with The Gallery, a meet-and-greet area designed by the celebrated British
installation artist Liam Gillick.
For nearly 40 years now, the Pressehaus at Dufourstrasse 23 has been the pivotal point of the Ringier
media group. On April 11, 1978, it was first officially opened by the then Federal Councillor Kurt
Furgler. At tomorrow’s grand opening, on Thursday, September 3, the current Federal Councillor and
Minister for Media, Doris Leuthard, will give a welcome address to 150 invited guests, including, as
guests of honor, the Mayor Zurich, Corine Mauch, and City Councillor Filippo Leutenegger.
Work on the present comprehensive redesign and rebuild began in December 2014. In addition to the
generously proportioned new Energy flagship studio on the ground floor with its adjacent The Studio
café bar operated by Kramer Gastronomy – which also features a small show stage and affords its
guests a direct view into the radio studio – visitors will now also benefit from a redesigned foyer with a
new-look reception desk and the new The Gallery meet-and-greet area, created by British installation
artist Liam Gillick, thus not only affording Ringier staff and their guests an ideal place to meet, but
also providing an exhibition space for works from the Ringier Art Collection.
This project has also encompassed the whole forecourt area in front of the building, which now
features outside seating for the café, a visually appealing awning roof above the main entrance, new
signage for the building itself, plus a new kiosk –not to mention a whole host of transformations which
have taken place behind the scenes.
As a special thank you to all the Riniger employees for all the months of construction-work noise, and
the building-site-type environment in which they have had to work for some of that time, an exclusive
employees-only opening ceremony will be held in the new building this evening.
