the activities, as they will help you review information that we have covered in this unit.
Listening: We will have two listening sections on this assessment.
Part A: The first listening activity will ask you to select the correct name and age for each statement
from a group of pictures. This is similar to the activity we did in class on the “Wie alt bist du?”
sheet, where Holger und Ahmet discuss the ages of their classmates. Be ready to understand
numbers 0-20 and identify the phrases “Er/sie heißt…” and “Er/sie ist ___ Jahre alt.”
Part B: The second listening activity will feature students that introduce themselves, including
what city they are from. You will look at a map and match each student to the city that they live in.
Be ready to understand the phrases “Er/sie kommt aus…” and “Er/sie wohnt in…” We will practice
this listening activity in class the day we go over this study guide. For now, please skip this section.

Grammar: There are three grammar sections on this assessment. I will provide you the nine
German pronouns and the chart of verb endings. You will need to know the difference between du,
ihr, and Sie, how to conjugate a verb, including locating a stem and adding on the correct ending,
and applying this to the sentence level. Use the following grammar sections to help you prepare for
the assessment.

Task: Ask your partner questions about their name, age, where they are from and where they live.
Respond to your partners questions.
Please take time to review the following phrases to help you prepare for this section. Translate
them to English and then practice reading them out loud. Finally, practice saying them out loud
without any notes. You will be responsible for asking and answering the questions.
