Liebe Leserin,
lieber Leser!
Gemeinsames Handeln für und im Sinne der Jugendlichen wird entscheidend zur Sicherheit in Europa beitragen und die Lebensqualität in allen Bereichen erhöhen
können. Letztlich ist es die heutige Jugend, die in 15 Jahren darüber entscheiden wird, ob es Wettbewerbe wie
„Jugend Musiziert“ in Europa geben wird. Dabei dürfen
nicht allein ökonomische Gesichtspunkte die erste Geige
spielen, auch gesellschaftspolitische und soziale Aspekte müssen den Ton angeben. Einerseits Verantwortung
anderer zu akzeptieren, andererseits Verantwortung
übernehmen zu wollen, gehört zum Alltag gemeinsam
musizierender Menschen. Die so erlernten Schlüsselqualifikationen können ohne Probleme übertragen
werden und helfen bei der individuellen Entwicklung
des Einzelnen und damit der gesamten Gesellschaft.

security in Europe and to increase the quality of life
within all ranges. In the long run it is the today‘s youth,
which will decide in 15 years whether there will existe
competitions like “Jugend Musiziert” in Europe. Alone
economic criteria may not play the first violin, also
socio-political and social aspects must indicate the clay.
On the one hand to accept the responsibility of others,
on the other hand the wish of taking responsibility
belongs to the everyday life of humans making music
together. The in such a way learned key qualifications
can be transferred without problems and help with the
individual development of the particular and thus of
the entire society.

EMCY: Könnten Sie vielleicht kurz Ihren Bezug
zur Musik, insbesondere natürlich zu Wettbewerben
schildern.
F.Reich: Es gibt da eigentlich drei Anknüpfungspunkte:
Zum einen spiele ich seit meiner Kindheit selbst Klavier.
Wettbewerbe habe ich deshalb zunächst als Teilnehmer
kennen gelernt. Bei Jugend musiziert habe ich z. B. 1976
das erste Mal mitgespielt und dann 1980 einen ersten
Preis im Bundeswettbewerb erhalten. Zum anderen
erlebe ich Wettbewerbe aus der Perspektive des Lehrers,
seit dem ich selbst unterrichte und meine Schüler zur
Teilnahme vorbereite. Schließlich sehe ich Wettbewerbe
aus der Sicht der Organisation, seit dem ich für den
internationalen Klavierwettbewerb Ettlingen zuständig
bin.
EMCY: Sie sind also der Musik seit Kindertagen
treu geblieben. Wie war im Anschluß Ihr beruflicher
Werdegang?
F. Reich: Ich habe an der Musikhochschule in Karlsruhe
bei Prof. Naoyuki Taneda Klavier studiert. 1984/85 war
ich mit einem Stipendium bei Helena Costa in Portugal.
Das hat mir sehr gut getan, weil es meine erste richtige
Erfahrung im Ausland war und ich gezwungen wurde,
mich mit einer neuen Situation auseinander zu setzen.
Sprachen bin ich nämlich vorher immer eher aus dem
Weg gegangen. [Fast hätte ich ja sogar Physik studiert!]
Zurück in Deutschland habe ich dann das Studium
mit dem pädagogischen und dem Konzertexamen
abgeschlossen und begann mit dem Unterrichten.
Zuerst an der Musikschule in Ettlingen, dann am
Badischen Konservatorium in Karlsruhe, wo ich seit
1995 die Klavierabteilung leite.
EMCY: Und wie kamen Sie schließlich zum
Klavierwettbewerb in Ettlingen?
F. Reich: Fast wie die Jungfrau zum Kind: Als der
Wettbewerb 1988 gegründet wurde, war ich als Helfer
dabei. Einige Jahre später hat mich der damalige
Organisationsleiter Norbert Karle gefragt, ob ich
seinen Job übernehmen wolle. Zuerst konnte ich
mir nicht vorstellen, die Klaviertasten mit einem
Computer-Keyboard zu tauschen, ich war ja Musiker
und kein Organisator. Doch dann habe ich mich auf
das Abenteuer eingelassen – und ich habe es bis heute
nicht bereut!
EMCY: War der Ettlinger Wettbewerb denn damals
überhaupt schon bei der EMCY?
F. Reich: Nein. Wir sind erst später in die EMCY
aufgenommen worden. Beim ersten Kontakt wurde

EMCY: Could you please, describe your relation to music
and especially of course your relation to competitions.
F.Reich: Actually, there are three links that connect me
to music and to competitions:
I play the piano since my early childhood. So I got to
know several competitions simply by taking part in
them.
On the other hand I experience competitions from the
perspective of a music teacher now and thirdly as the
organisator of the piano competition in Ettlingen.
EMCY: How did you become what you are now?
F. Reich: I studied music and pianoat the conservatory
in Karlsruhe (Germany); my teacher was Prof. Naoyuki
Taneda. 1984/85 I got a scholarship for Portugal and I
continued my studies there. Living abroad was quite a
positive experience for me; amongst others because I
was forced to speak a foreign language.
Back in Germany I continued my music courses and
then also got my diploma. Afterwards I started to give
piano lessons myself; first in a music school in Ettlingen
and until now in the conservatory in Karlsruhe, too.
EMCY: When and why did you join the organisation
of the piano competition in Ettlingen?
F. Reich: Well, when the copmetition was founded in
1988, I worked for the management as an assistant
already. And several years later Norbert Karle the
former organisator asked my if I would like to take over
his job. After a first uncertainty I accepted - and until
now I have never regretted the decision!
EMCY: You are a member of the EMCY-Bord. How
come?
F. Reich: The piano competition in Ettlingen was one of
the first international competitions that were accepted
as a member of the EMCY.

eigentlich nicht dazupassen (in der EMCY waren
damals nur nationale Wettbewerbe vertreten!). Einige
Jahre später, nach der Änderung der Statuten konnten
wir dann doch Mitglied werden.
EMCY: Und wie kamen Sie in den Vorstand?
F.Reich: Das war 1998. Bei einer Generalversammlung
wurde beschlossen, Vertreter für die nationalen und
internationalen Wettbewerbe zu bestimmen. Ich wurde
als Beisitzer für die internationalen Wettbewerbe
gewählt. Seit der GA 2002 in Altea bin ich nun der
Hauptzuständige für die „Internationalen“.
EMCY: Was ist für sie das besondere an der EMCY?
F.Reich: Man kann in der Organisation unheimlich
viel dazulernen; vor allem für die Gestaltung des
eigenen Wettbewerbes. Ganz wichtig ist der Besuch
anderer Wettbewerbe und der gemeinsame Austausch
unter Kollegen. Dort fühlt man sich bestätigt im
eigenen Engagement und merkt, dass es auch andere
Einzelkämpfer gibt, die für ihren Wettbewerb alles
geben würden.
Oft kommt es inzwischen sogar vor, dass
einem EMCY-Freunde während der stressigen
Wettbewerbsvorbereitung
aufmunternde
E-Mails
schreiben, weil sie wissen, was man da gerade
durchmacht. Das ist vielleicht das Wichtigste:
Persönliche Kontakte, die Brücken über Sprach- und
Ländergrenzen hinweg bauen. Das ist alles ein enormer
Verdienst und das schätze ich außerordentlich!
EMCY: Haben Sie irgendwelche Zukunftsvisionen für
die EMCY?
F.Reich: Ich finde, ein ganz wichtiges neues Gebiet mit
dem wir uns unbedingt beschäftigen sollten, wäre die
Popmusik und der Jazz.
Mein großes Ziel ist es deshalb, auch Menschen aus
anderen Musikbereichen für unsere Sache zu begeistern
und Menschen, die bisher kein besonderes Interesse
hatten, durch den Wettbewerbgedanken mit Musik
in Berührung zu bringen. Das wäre bestimmt eine
Bereicherung!
EMCY: Ergänzen Sie doch bitte folgenden Satz: „Musik
ist...“
F. Reich: „...wenn man trotzdem lacht!“ (lacht)
Tut mir leid, da fällt mir im Moment nichts Ernstes dazu
ein!
Mein Lebensmotto ist vielmehr: Immer mal wieder den
eigenen Standpunkt der Betrachtung wechseln!

EMCY: What is so special about the EMCY?
F.Reich: You can learn a lot in and from the organisation;
especially for your own competition. One important
aspect of this is certainly the opportunity to attend other
competitions and the exchange amongst colleagues. You
get a lot of feed-back for your dedication and you notice
that you are not the only one commited to what you
do.
EMCY: Do you have any ideas or visions for the future
of the EMCY?
F.Reich: I think we should augment our interest in jazz
and pop music and maybe even try to integrate it into
our offers. I‘m sure that this would be very enriching!
EMCY: Please, complete the following sentence: „Music
is...“
F. Reich: Sorry, I can‘t think of anything (serious/but
funny) at the moment; my motto is rather: It‘s good to
change your point of view from time to time!

Das letzte EMCY board meeting fand am 16. Januar The last EMCY board meeting took place in Munich,

Finanzen
Das board nahm einstimmig den Budget-Plan für 2005
an. Dabei wurde zur Kenntnis genommen, dass das
Geld wie geplant nur ausgegeben werden kann, wenn
die EMCY genügend Sponsoren findet. Die EMCY
wird momentan finanziert durch das Youth Budget
der Europäischen Kommission und durch die Stiftung
Musik & Jugend, Liechtenstein. Für einzelne Projekte
gibt es weitere Sponsoren. Zum Beispiel wurde das
EuroRadio Youth Concert 2005 von der JSKE Bank
und der Deutschen Stiftung Musikleben unterstützt.
Meisterkurse
Die EMCY hat bei einigen Veranstaltern von
Meisterkursen angefragt, ob sie EMCY-Preisträger
einladen und sie mit einem Stipendium unterstützen
können. Das ist Teil der Anstrengungen, die die EMCY
unternimmt, um die Preisträger nach dem Wettbewerb
weiter zu fördern. Eine Einladung zu einem Kurs kann
als ein Spezialpreis für Preisträger gesehen werden.
Finances
The board accepted unanimously the budget plan for
2005, but knowing that the planned money can only be
spent if the EMCY finds enough sponsors. The EMCY
is financed by the youth budget of the European
Commission and the Stiftung Musik & Jugend,
Liechtenstein at the moment. For several projects there
are more sponsors. For example the EuroRadio Youth
Concert 2005 has been supported by the JSKE Bank
and the Deutsche Stiftung Musikleben.
Master classes
The EMCY asked some organisers of master classes
to invite EMCY prize winners and to give them a
sponsorship for the master class. This is part of the
efforts of the EMCY to promote prize winners after
the competition. Such an invitation is a special award for
the prize winners, too.

Mr. Pairott is responsible for the organisation of the
first meeting of the working group EMPY that should
discuss the future concert for the European Music
Prize for Youth (EMPY) (work order of the General
Assembly 2004). The first meeting will probably be held
in September/October 2005.

EuroR adio Youth Concert 2005
Im 3. EuroRadio Youth Concert präsentierten der
Schwedische Rundfunk und die Europäische RundfunkUnion in einer europaweiten Sendung in 20 Ländern
drei junge Musiker mit dem Sveriges Radios Symfonieorkester unter dem jungen schwedischen Dirigenten
Stefan Solyom. In Stockholms ausverkauften Bergwaldhallen spielte in einem Sonderkonzert am 14. März
und zwei Tage vorher in einem Abonnementkonzert
die Hamburgerin Hellen Weiss (16), mehrfache Preisträgerin von „Jugend Musiziert“ und von Concertino
Praga 2004, Dvoráks Romanze op.11. Der Niederländer
Christopher Bouwman (24), ausgezeichnet mit dem
Europäischen Musikpreis für die Jugend 2003 in Linz,
präsentierte sich mit Richard Strauss‘ Oboenkonzert,
der spanisch-russische Geiger Viatcheslav Chestiglazov
(21), Preisträger im Wieniawski-Wettbewerb in Lublin
(Polen), mit dem Poème op.25 von Ernest Chausson.
Dieses Förderprojekt war ermöglicht worden dank der
Unterstützung durch die Deutsche Stiftung Musikleben, die dänische JYSKE-Bank Private Banking und
die Stiftung Musik und Jugend Liechtenstein .
Das Konzert, ergänzt durch eine Ouvertüre und die 4.
Symphonie von Franz Berwald, wurde von den Rundfunksendern in Deutschland, Dänemark, Estland, Griechenland, Kroatien, Lettland, Polen, Slowenien, Spanien und im Sveriges Radio P2 life gesendet. Bulgarien,
Frankreich, Litauen, Niederlande, Portugal, Rumänien,
Serbien-Montenegro, Slovakei und Schweiz übernahmen das Programm für eine spätere Sendung.
Das jährliche EuroRadio Youth Concert ist ein Kooperationsprojekt der Europäischen Union der Musikwettbewerbe für die Jugend (EMCY) mit der Europäischen
Rundfunkunion (EBU), in dem eine Auswahl herausragender Preisträger internationaler Jugend-Musikwettbewerbe vorgestellt werden können. Für das 4. EuroRadio
Youth Concert 2006 wird am 4. April 2006 der Bayerische Rundfunk mit seinem Rundfunkorchester unter
dem Dirigat von Gerd Albrecht Gastgeber sein.

The Swedish Radio and the European Broadcast Union
presented the 3rd EuroRadio Youth Concert in an European-wide broadcasting in 20 countries three young
musicians with the Sveriges Radios Symfonieorkester
and its conductor Stefan Solyom. Stockholm‘s Bergwaldhallen was sold out on 14th of March as well as
two days before for a subscription performance.
Hellen Weiss (16) from Hamburg, repeated prizewinner
of „Jugend Musiziert“ and „Concertino Praga“ played
Dvoráks Romance op.11. Christopher Bouwman (24)
from The Netherlands, awarded with the European
Music Prize for Youth 2003 in Linz performed the concerto for oboe and orchestra by Richard Strauss. The
spanish-russian violinist Vietcheslav Chestiglazov (21),
prizewinner of the Wieniawski competition in Lublin,
Poland, presented the Poème op. 25 by Ernest Chausson. This project has been supported by the Deutsche
Stiftung Musikleben, the JY SKE-Bank Pri vate Banking Danemark and the Stiftung Musik und Jugend
Liechtenstein.
The concert was completed by an overture and the 4th
symphony of Franz Berwald. It was broadcasted life by
radio stations in Germany, Danemark, Estonia, Greece,
Croatia, Latvia, Poland, Slovenia, Spain and the Sveriges
Radio P2. Other stations recorded it for a later broadcasting in Bulgaria, France, Lithuania, Netherlands,
Portugal, Romania, Serbia-Montenegro, Slovakia and
Switzerland.
The annual EuroRadio Youth Concert is a project of
the EMCY in co-operation with the European Bradcast
Union (EBU), in which a selection of high-talented
young prizewinners can be presented to the public.
The 4th EuroRadio Youth Concert will take place on
4th of April 2006 in Munich. The Bavarian Radio Symphony-Orchestra will play under the conductor Gerd
Albrecht.

Im Jahr 2005 findet die Konzerttournee bereits zum
dritten Mal statt. Mit dabei sind diesmal die Geigerin
Esther Kim, die in den USA geboren ist und momentan
in Wien/Österreich wohnt, der Trompeter Antal Endre
Nagy aus Budapest/Ungarn, ein russisch/litauisches
Klavier-Duo mit Milana Dunauskaitë und Viktor
Gerasimov und als Klavierbegleiterin, wie schon im
letzten Jahr, Lisa Schulz aus Deutschland.
In 2005 it is already the third time that the concert tour
takes place, this year together with the violinist Esther
Kim who was born in the USA and lives in Vienna/
Austria at the moment, the trumpeter Antal Endre Nagy
from Budapest/Hungary, a russian/lithuanian piano
duo with Milana Dunauskaitë and Viktor Gerasimov,
and, like in the last year, Lisa Schulz from Germany as
piano accompanist.
Esther Kim wurde 1988 in Californien als jüngste
von drei Geschwistern geboren. Ab 1999 war sie
Jungstudentin beim Julliard School of Music. 2002 trat
sie als Solistin bei den Internationalen Sejong Solisten
auf, 2003 machte sie eine ostasiatische Tournee durch
Japan und Korea mit Auftritten in Tokyo, Osaka and
Seoul. Sie studiert bei Michael Frischenschlager in
Wien. Esther Kim gewann 2004 beim Yehudi Menuhin
Wettbewerb in London den EMCY Art for Music
Prize für ihr hochmusikalisches, aussagekräftiges Spiel;
beim Internationalen Wettbewerb für Violine und
Viola in Bled, Slowenien, wurde sie mit dem 2. Preis
ausgezeichnet.
Antal Endre Nagy wurde 1983 in Zalaegerszeg/Ungarn
geboren. Seine musikalische Ausbildung hat er 1991 an
der Jeno Ádám Musikschule von Lenti begonnen, seit
1997 an der Béla Bartók Spezialoberschule für Musik in
Budapest fortgesetzt. Seit 2001 studierte er an der Franz
Liszt Musikakademie in Budapest. Außerdem nahm
Antal Endre Nagy an verschiedenen Meisterkursen teil.
2004 gewann er beim Europäischen Wettbewerb Klassik
Festival Ruhr einen 1. Preis, den Kammermusikpreis, den
Publikumspreis und den EMCY Art for Music Prize. In
Passau gewann er im gleichen Jahr einen Förderpreis mit
einem Blechbläser-Quintett, dem Brass Art Ensemble.
2005 nimmt er am internationalen Wettbewerb für
Trompete in Pilisvörösvár/Ungarn teil.
Das Klavier-Duo mit Milana Dunaskaitë und
Viktor Gerasimov besteht seit 2001. Im Jahr 2002
wurde im Zusammenhang mit dem Vortrag des Duos
beim Internationalen Musikfestival „Sounding Wave“
eine CD produziert. Es ist Preisträger des Kaunas
Wettbewerbs für Klavier-Duo. Milana Dunauskaitë
wurde 1987 in Klaipeda/Litauen geboren. Erst
mit neun Jahren begann sie in Klaipeda mit dem
Klavierunterricht. Sie ist Preisträgerin des nationalen B.
Esther Kim was born in California in 1988 as the
youngest of three brothers and sisters. From 1999 on
she was a young student at Julliard School of Music.
In 2002 she performed at the International Sejong
Soloists, in 2003 she toured through Japan and Korea
with performances in Tokyo, Osaka and Seoul. She
studies at Michael Frischenschlager in Vienna. At the
“Yehudi Menuhin” International Competition for
Young Violinists in Loindon in 2004, Esther Kim won
the EMCY Art for Music Prize for her highly musical,
meaningful play; at the International Competition for
Violin and Viola, Festival Bled in Slovenia she has been
awarded the 2nd prize.
Antal Endre Nagy was born in Zalaegerszeg/Hungary
in 1983. He started his musical education at the Jeno
Ádám Music School at Lenti in 1991 and went on at the
Béla Bartók special highschool for music in Budapest
in 1997. Since 2001 he studies at the Franz Liszt Music
Academy in Budapest. Antal Endre Nagy also took part
in several master classes. In 2004, he was awarded a
1st prize at the European Competition Classic Festival
Ruhr, the chamber music prize, the audience prize and
the EMCY Art for Music Prize. In the same year he
won a special prize with a brass quintett, the Brass Art
Ensemble, at a festival in Passau/Germany. Antal Endre
Nagy will take part in the international competition for
trumpet in Pilisvörösvár/Hungary.
The piano duo with Milana Dunaskaitë and Viktor
Gerasimov exists since 2001. In 2002, a CD was
produced in connexion mit the performance of the duo
at the International Music Festival „Sounding Wave”.
The duo is prize winner of the Kaunas International
Piano Duo Competition 2004. Milana Dunauskaitë
was born in Klaipeda/Litauen in 1987. Only when
she was nine years old she began in Klaipeda with
piano lessons. She is prize winner of the national B.

Lisa Schulz , Jahrgang 1983, begann im Alter von
sechs Jahren Klavier zu spielen. Sie erhielt an der
Remscheider Musikschule Klavierunterricht. Bei
regionalen und überregionalen Wettbewerben – so
z.B. bei Bundeswettbewerben „Jugend Musiziert“ (2.
Preis Duo Oboe/Klavier, 1. Preis Klavierduo) und
diversen Konzerten (z.B. Kölner Philharmonie,
Düsseldorfer Tonhalle) – hat sie immer wieder ihre
Klasse unter Beweis gestellt. Sie ist – zusammen mit
ihrem Klavierpartner Ibach – Preisträgerin 2003 und
Stipendiatin der Ria-Fresen-Stiftung.
Das Hauptkonzert der EuroDebut Tour findet
traditionell in Marl statt; auf Einladung der Stadt Marl
wurde die Tour im Jahr 2003 ins Leben gerufen. Darum
gruppieren sich dieses Jahr sieben weitere Konzerte in
Nordrhein-Westfalen/Deutschland:

Dvarionas Piano Competition. Several times she was
soloist at the International Festival for young players
„Sounding wave”. Actually she is a student of the S.
Simkus Conservatoire in Klaipeda. Viktor Gerasimov

Schulz is prize winner and scholarship holder of the
Ria-Fresen-Stiftung.
The main concert of the EuroDebut Tour traditionally
takes part in Marl; on invitation of the city of Marl,
the tour war brought into being in 2003. This year,
around this concert seven more concerts in NordrheinWestfalen/Deutschland are arranged:

Im 7. Anna-Amalia-Gitarrenwettbewerb wurde der
Sonderpreis „EMCY Art for Music Prize“ an den
höchstpunktierten Preisträger, an den 16-jährigen
Gitarristen Petr Beneš aus Dobruška (Tschechien)
verliehen.
In the 7th Anna-Amalia Competition for Young
Guitarists, Petr Beneš (16) from Dobruška (Tschechien)
was awarded with the special „EMCY Art for Music
Prize“. He had got the most jury points in the
competition.
An diesem 7. Wettbewerb haben insgesamt 72 Gitarristen
aus 12 europäischen Ländern teilgenommen, davon
30 in der Gruppe der Jüngsten (8 bis 13 Jahre) und
24 in der Altersgruppe 14 bis 16 Jahre. In der älteren
Gruppe (bis zu 20 Jahren) stellten sich in zwei Runden
18 Teilnehmer der Jury, die die Teilnehmer nicht nur
bewertete, sondern anschließend auch beratende
Gespräche anbot. Unter dem Vorsitz von Prof. Monika
Rost gehörten der Jury an Vincent Airault aus Paris,
Nora Buschmann aus Berlin, Prof. Alfred Eickholt aus
Wuppertal, Prof. Konrad Ragossnig aus Wien und Petr
Saidl aus dem ostböhmischen Pardubice (Tschechien).
Vergeben wurden Preise in Gesamthöhe von € 5.000, in
den drei Altersgruppen 1. Preise an Andrea Gonzales
Caballero (12 Jahre) aus Spanien, Petr Beneš (16)
aus Tschechien und Magdalena Kaltcheva (17) aus
Deutschland, 2. Preise an Andreja Puškaš (12) aus
Kroatien, Sanel Redzic (16) aus Bosnien-Herzegowina),
Florian Moritz (17) aus Deutschland und Ionut
Zamfirescu (18) aus Rumänien, 3. Preise an Alina Elena
Ciolacu und Mircea Stefan Gogoncea (beide 13 Jahre)
aus Rumänien und Judith Bunk (15) aus Deutschland.
Einen Sonderpreis bekam die achtjährige Sarah Müller
aus Deutschland als jüngste Teilnehmerin. Im übrigen
erhielten alle Gitarristen mit ihrer Teilnehmerurkunde
– ähnlich wie im deutschen Bundeswettbewerb „Jugend
musiziert“ - eine Würdigung ihrer Bewertung.
In total, 72 guitarists from 12 European countries took
part in the competition, 30 of them in the group of the
youngest (8 to 13 years), 24 in the age group 14 to 16
years, and 18 in the group up to 20 years.
Chairman of the jury has been Prof. Monika Rost,
further jury members have been Vincent Airault (Paris),
Nora Buschmann (Berlin), Prof. Alfred Eickholz
(Wuppertal), Prof. Konrad Ragossnig (Vienna) and
Petr Saidl (Pardubice). After the competition, the
jury members offered counselling interviews for the
competitors.

für zeitgenössische Musik in Weimar aus ihrem
Pflichtprogramm, das die Thüringer Komponisten
Baldur Böhme, Johannes K. Hildebrandt, Franz Just und
Helmut Lang im Auftrage des veranstaltenden Weimarer
Gitarre-Verein geschrieben hatten. Der Verein „via
nova – zeitgenössische Musik in Thüringen“ zeichnete
die besten Interpretationen dieser zeitgenössischen
Pflichtstücke mit zwei Sonderpreisen aus. Sie gingen an
Janko Raseta (14) aus Polen und Magdaelena Kaltcheva
(Deutschland).
Alle zwei Jahre ist Weimar Gaststadt für diesen
„Anna Amalia Gitarrenwettbewerb“, dessen nächste
Ausschreibung für das Jahr 2007 ansteht.
Sloweniens künstlerischer Nachwuchs
The artistic young talents of Slovenia
Ljubljana, im März 2005. Im 34. nationalen
Jugendmusik-Wettbewerb Sloweniens, im März 2005
organisiert vom Musik- und Tanzpädagogogen-Verband
TEMSIG in Verbindung mit den Musikschulen, waren
diesmal rund 300 Kinder und Jugendliche aus über
50 Schulen und musikpädagogischen Instituten des
Landes beteiligt, diesmal in den Solofächern Trompete,
Horn, Posaune, Tuba, Akkordeon, Percussion. Diese
Teilnehmer zwischen 8 und 24 Jahren werden in sieben
Alterskategorien bewertet. Qualitativ und quantitativ
zugenommen hat nach den Teilnehmermeldungen
auch das Ensemblespiel, was sich in zunehmenden
Teilnehmerzahlen, nämlich 27 Gitarren-Duos, 21
Klavier-Duos und 18 Kammermusikgruppen mit
Streichern mit und ohne Klavier abzeichnet. Diese
Ensembles stellen sich in drei Alterskategorien bis zu
15, bis zu 19 und bis 24 Jahren den Jurygremien, die aus
jeweils drei Experten zusammengesetzt sind, darunter
auch Gastjuroren aus Italien, Kroatien und Tschechien.
Die Durchführung erfolgte für die Klavierduos in
Maribor, für alle anderen Fächer in Ljubljana. In
beiden Städten werden Ergebnisse aus allen Kategorien
und Fächern in Abschlußkonzerten vorgestellt. Der
Wettbewerb findet finanzielle Förderung u.a. durch die
Ministerien für Kultur, Erziehung und Sport und die
Slowenische Philharmonie. Dem nationalen Wettbewerb
gehen Vorrunden in sieben Regionen voraus. Alle Solound Ensemblekategorien sind im Dreijahres-Turnus
Ljubljana, in March 2005. - In the 34th national youth
music competition of Slovenia, organized by the music
and dance teachers federation TEMSIG in March
2005 in connection with the schools of music, this
time approximately 300 children and young people out
over 50 schools and music-educational institutes of the
country were involved in the solo categories trumpet,
horn, trombone, tuba, accordion, percussion. These
participants between 8 and 24 years of age are evaluated
in seven age categories. Qualitatively and quantitatively
participants applications increased also in the ensemble
play, i.e. 27 guitar duos, 21 piano duos and 18 groups
of string chamber music with and without piano. These
ensembles place themselves in three age categories up
to 15, up to 19 and to 24 years to the jury committees,
which are compound from in each case three experts,
under it also guest experts from Italy, Croatia and the
Czech Republic. The execution took place in Maribor
for piano duos, for all other categories in Ljubljana. In
both cities the results from all categories and subjects
are presented in final concerts. The competition
finds financial promotion among other things by the
Ministry of culture, education and sport and the Sloveni
Philharmonic Concert Hall. Preliminary rounds precede
the competition in seven regions.
All solo and ensemble categories are written out in a
triannual rotation. Every two years additional a ballet
competition takes place in the age categories 13 to 15

Zum Abschluss des diesjährigen Nationalen
Musikwettbewerbes Sloweniens hatte TEMSIG,
der Verband der Musik- und Tanzpädagogen, in
Verbindung mit dem Jugend- und Sportministerium
zu zwei Europäischen Konzerten eingeladen. In der
Slovenischen Philharmonie Ljubljana und anschließend
in der Musikschule Koper stellten sich Preisträger aus
Mazedonien, Tschechien, Slowenien und Deutschland
vor: Kliment Todorovski und Marija Vrskova,
ausgezeichnet bei „Ohrid Pearls“ mit Saint-Saens
Rondo capriccioso für Violine und Klavier, Marie AlAshlabová, Preisträgerin beim Smetana-Wettbewerb
Pilsen, im Beethoven-Wettbewerb Hradec n. Moravici
und bei Concertino Praga, mit Janačeks „V. megli“,
der Bariton Rok Bavčar, Höchstpunktierter im
slowenischen Wettbewerb mit Liedern und Arien von
Gluck, Schubert, Vilhar, Tschaikowsky und Mozart, das
deutsche Saxophon-Trio der Geschwister Niederstraßer,
als „Jugend Musiziert“-Preisträger in Dubrovnik 2004
mit dem Europäischen Musikpreis für die Jugend
ausgezeichnet, Werke von Mozart und Piazzolla.
Zu Gast waren zugleich die Vorsitzenden der
entsendenden Organisationen, Gorgi Ulisev, Präsident
des Mazedonischen Musikpädagogenverbandes, Martin
Vojtisek, Verantwortlicher für Concertino Praga
des Tschechischen Rundfunks, Hans-Peter Pairott,
Geschäftsführer des deutschen Wettbewerbes „Jugend
Musiziert“.
Hans-Peter Pairott führte bei dieser Gelegenheit
Planungsgespräche im Slowenischen Rundfunk, der
im Frühjahr 2007 in Verbindung mit der Europäischen
Rundfunk-Union gastgebende Rundfunkorganisation
für das EuroRadio-Youth-Concert sein wird. In diesem
Konzert werden einige Preisträger der internationalen
EMCY-Wettbewerbe als Solisten mit dem Simfonični
Orkester RTV Slovenia konzertieren.

At the conclusion of the National Music Competition
of this year of Slovenia TEMSIG, the federation
of the music and dance paedagogues, had invited in
connection with the youth and sport Ministry to two
European concerts. At the Slovenian Philharmonic
Concert Hall in Ljubljana and afterwards at the school
of music Koper prizewinners from Macedonia, the
Czech Republic, Slovenia and Germany were presented:
Kliment Todorovski and Marija Vrskova, awarded at
“Ohrid Pearls“ with Saint-Saens Rondo capriccioso for
violin and piano, Marie Al-Ashlabová, prizewinner at
the Smetana Competition in Pilzen, in the Beethoven
competition Hradec n. Moravici and at Concertino
Praga, with Janaceks “V. megli”, the Baryton Rok Bavar,
maximum awarded in the Sloveni an competition with
songs and airs of Gluck, Schubert, Vilhar, Tschaikowsky
and Mozart, the German saxophone trio of the brothers
and sisters Niederstrasser, awarded as prizewinners
of “Jugend Musiziert” in Dubrovnik in 2004 with the
European Music Price for Youth, played works of
Mozart and Piazzolla.
As guests there were at the same time the chairmen of
the sending organizations, Gorgi Ulisev, president of
the Macedonian Music Paedagogue Federation, Martin
Vojtisek, responsible person for “Concertino Praga” of
the Czech broadcast, Hans-Peter Pairott, responsible of
the German competition “Jugend Musiziert”.
Hans-Peter Pairott led on this occasion planning
discussions in the Slovenian broadcast, which will be
in the spring 2007 in connection with the European
broadcast union guest-giving broadcast organization
for the EuroRadio-Youth-Concert. In this concert
some winners of the international EMCY competitions
will play as soloists with the Simfonicni Orkester RTV
Slovenia.

Chamber music upcoming
Im Jubiläumsjahr des 20. Charles Hennen Concours
in Heerlen (NL) gab es eine Rekordanmeldung von
30 Streichquartetten und Klaviertrios aus 10 Ländern.
In der jüngsten Gruppe bis zu 16 Jahren wurden
das deutsche Trio Verano aus Bonn (1. Preis), das
finnische Trio Asksenti aus Kouvola und das polnische
Ensemble Miniatures aus Timbark mit dem 2. und
3. Preis prämiert. Den 1. Preis der Stadt Heerlen aus
der mittleren Altersgruppe bis Anfang 20 holte sich
das deutsche Almandin Quartett aus Hannover, das
zugleich den „Art for Music Prize“ der Europäischen
Union der Musikwettbewerbe für die Jugend (EMCY)
erhielt. Der 2. und 3. Preis wurde den niederländischen
Ensembles Allegra Kwartet aus Den Haag und dem
Quartetto Con Gusto aus Utrecht zugesprochen.
Unter den musikstudentischen Bewerbern bekam das
Amaryllis Quartett aus Bern - vor zwei Jahren schon
in der jüngeren Gruppe ausgezeichnet - den Preis der
Provinz Limburg, den 2. Preis das En-Accord Quartett
aus Den Haag, den 3. Preis das aus drei jungen Polen
bestehende Panufnik Piano Trio, deren Mitglieder derzeit
in Maastrich und Hannover studieren. 2006 findet dieser
Wettbewerb für Streicher-Kammermusik mit und ohne
Klavier am 6./7. Mai wiederum in Heerlen (NL) statt.

There was a record number of applications for the 20th
Charles Hennen Concours in Heerlen (Netherlands) in its jubilee-year: 30 string-quartetts and piano
trios from 10 countries. In the youngest age-group (up
to 16) the German Trio Verano, Bonn (1st prize), the
Trio Asksenti from Kouvola, Finland (2nd prize) and
the Polish Ensemble Miniatures from Timbark (3rd prize) were awarded. The 1st prize of the city of Heerlen
in the middle age-group (up to 20) was dedicated to the
German Almandin Quartett, Hannover, which got also
the EMCY „Art for Music Price“.
The 2nd and 3rd prize was given to the Netherlands

On Sunday, April 18th, the award-giving ceremony
of the 63rd Concurso Permanente de Jóvenes
Intérpretes took place in Ciutadella, Menorca and
was organized by Juventudes Musicales Spain.
Cristina Granera from Andalusia was awarded with the
First prize in the section of wind wood instruments, the
second prize was given to Ona Cardona from Menorca.
In 2006 this competition will be take place on 6th/7th
of May for string chamber-music with / without piano,

Der 10. Wettbewerb wurde in den Kategorien Violine,
Violoncello, Harfe und Klavierduo ausgetragen. Ingesamt 38 Teilnehmer traten gegeneinander an. Die Jurymitglieder wurden durch die Association of Music and
Ballet pedagogues Serbien gestellt, allesamt Experten

Die 23-jährige Tatjana Uhde aus Karlsruhe (D) gewann
mit dem Konzert a-moll op. 129 von Robert Schumann
den 2. Preis. Teilgenommen hatten 46 Cellisten aus 20
Nationen. Sie teilte sich den 2. Preis mit Julien Lazinac
aus Frankreich. Der 1. Preis ging an Kenji Nagaki aus
Japan, der 4. Preis wurde Silver Aidomäe aus Estland
zuerkannt.

Tatjana Uhde (23) from Karlsruhe (Germany) won with
the performance of Robert Schumann‘s concerto a minor op. 129 the second prize. In total 46 cellists from 20
countries participated. Tatjana share the 2nd prize with
Julien Lazinac (France). The 1st prize was awarded to
Kenji Nagaki (Japan), the 4th prize to Silver Aidomäe
(Estonia).

ÚSTÍ-NAD-ORLICÍ - 90 junge Geiger zwischen 8 und
16 Jahren aus 17 europäischen Ländern sowie aus den
USA hatten sich für den diesjährigen 47. Internationalen
„Kocian“-Violin-Wettbewerb eingeschrieben, der
Anfang Mai in der osttschechischen Stadt Ùstí-nadOrlicí ausgetragen wurde. Die Jury unter Professor
Ivan Štraus mit den Professoren Peter Michalica aus
Bratislava, Michael Frischenschlager aus Wien, Claus
Christianus aus München sowie mit den tschechischen
Experten Pavel Hůla, Bohuslav Matoušik und František
Novotný zeichnete auf Grund ihrer Bestleistung als
diesjährige Laureaten die Norwegierin Hemsing Eldborg
(16 Jahre) zugleich mit dem EMCY-Sonderpreis „Art
for Music“ aus. Weitere Erstpreisträger wurden in den
Alterskategorien bis 10 Jahre Dominikusová Markéta,
bis 12 Jahren Michael Simon, bis 14 Jahre Mrácek Jan,
alle aus Tschechien. Weitere Auszeichnungen gingen
an Teilnehmer aus Tschechien, Polen, Deutschland,
Lettland, Litauen, Mongolai. Das tägliche erschienene
illustrierte Wettbewerbsjournal informierte mit aktuellen
Berichten und Interviews über Eindrücke von Juroren,

at the beginning of May 2005 in the east Czech city

Auf dem Nationalkongreß am 23. April 2005 in Forgesles-eaux wurde Bernard Aury zum neuen Präsidenten
der CMF gewählt. Er tritt die Nachfolge von Maurice
Adam an, der dieses Amt seit 1991 innehatte. Aury ist
seit 1990 Direktor der Musikschule in Brivadois und
Präsident der Fédération d‘Auvergne (seit 1995).
Bernard Aury engagiert sich seit 1996 in der CMF.
Zunächst als Mitglied des Verwaltungsrats wurde er im
Jahr 2000 zum Vizepräsidenten, zwei Jahre später zum
1. Vizepräsidenten gewählt.
EMCY gratuliert Bernard Aury sehr herzlich und freut
sich auf eine gedeihliche Zusammenarbeit.
At the national congress on 23th of April 2005 in
Forges-les-eaux Bernard Aury was elected as the new
president of CMF. He followes Maurice Adam, who
was president since 1991. Aury is director of the music
school in Brivadois and president of the Fédération
d‘Auvergne (since 1995).
Bernard Aury is engaged with the CMF since 1996.
After beeing member of the board of directors he was
elected as vice-president in the year 2000, two years later
as first vice-president.

Prof. Lovro Sodja, Direktor des nationalen slowenischen Musikwettbewerbes der TEMSIG und Vorstandmitglied der EMCY, hat kürzlich ein Buch veröffentlicht
als Resümé seiner rund 20jährigen musikpädagogischen
Arbeit mit slowenischen Musikschülern und Musikleherern aus Kärnten, Friuli-Venizia-Giulia und Slowenien.
Man findet hierin eine Schilderung seines vielseitigen
Wirkens, seiner Erfahrungen und seiner Erfolge als
Lehrer für Block- und Querflöte und als pädagogischer
Leiter der slowenischen Musikschule in Klagenfurt, an

Gewürdigt wird auch seine internationale Zusammenarbeit im Rahmen des slowenischen Jugendmusikwettbewerbes und des Europäischen Wettbewerbes für junge
Organisten in Ljubljana, die beide seit 1992 Mitglied der
EMCY sind. Das Buch enthält eine ausführliche Bibliographie von Artikeln und Illustrationen, die zur Arbeit
der slowenischen Musikschulen in Slowenischen und
Nachbarländern erschienen sind.
Prof. Lovro Sodja, director of the national Slovenian
music competition of TEMSIG and board member of
the EMCY, has recently published a book kwthich is a
sort of résumé of his about 20 years of music pedagogical work with Slovenian music pupils and teachers from
Kärnten, Friuli-Venezia-Giulia and Slovenia.
One can find descriptions of his all-round activities, of
his experiences and successes as a teacher of recorder
and flute and as the pedagogical director of the Slovenian music school in Klagenfurt (Austria), wjere many
young musical talents started their career.
Also his merits with regard to international collaboration
for the Slovenian music competitions for youth as well
as for the international competition for young organists,
both EMCY-members since 1992, are appreciated. The
book contains a detailed bibliography of articles and illustrations, published in connection with the Slovenian
music schools in their home and neighbour countries.

Russian Rotary Children Music Competition
MOSKAU (21. März 2005). „Educational help“
ist ein Leitmotiv für die mehr als 30.000 weltweit
bestehenden Rotary-Clubs, in denen Persönlichkeiten
aus verschiedenen gesellschaftlichen, wirtschaftlichen,
kulturellen und diplomatischen Kreisen zusammenwirken
und sich u.a. für unterpriviliegierte Kinder engagieren.
Im Rotary-Club Moskau International haben sich deren
41 Mitglieder aus mehreren Ländern aus Anlaß ihres
100jährigen Bestehens zusammengetan, um nun schon
zum dritten Male jungen und jüngsten Musiktalenten
unter 13 Jahren eine Förderchance zu geben.
Maßgebliche Sponsorbereitschaft ermöglichte die
Durchführung eines breit angelegten Wettbewerbes. In
Kooperation mit Musikschulen sorgten Rotary-Clubs in
allen Teilen der russischen Föderation und in mehreren
Nachbarstaaten für eine Vorauswahl. Aus den 75
eingereichtenVideo-Kasetten junger Pianisten, Streicher
und Bläser, die ihr Vorspielrepertoire frei wählen konnten,
suchte ein Fachgremium schließlich 20 Kinder zwischen
8 und knapp 13 Jahren aus, die samt begleitenden
Eltern oder Lehrer zum Life-Vorspiel ins Semifinale
nach Moskau eingeladen wurden. Unter dem Vorsitz
der weltbekannten Cellistin und Nationalpreisträgerin
Natalia Gutman wählte die neunköpfige Jury, darunter
die Direktoren der Zentralmusikschule des Moskauer
Staatskonservatoriums und des Gnessin-Institutes und
drei „fachfremde“ Rotarier, schließlich acht Finalisten,
die nach ihrem zum Teil atemberaubenden Vorspiel
zu Gast in der Residenz der Französischen Botschaft
mit Preisen bzw. Ausbildungsstipendien in Einzelhöhe
bis zu 100.000 Rubel - das Vielfache eines dortigen
durchschnittlichen Monatsverdienstes - bedacht
wurden. Einige Tage später dürfen sich die Preisträger
noch als Solisten mit einem Orchester in einem Konzert
in Moskau vorstellen.
Seinen Antrag auf Mitgliedschaft in der EMCY,
der Europäischen Union der Musikwettbewerbe
für die Jugend, mit derzeit mehr als 50 Kinderund Jugendwettbewerben in 30 Ländern Europas,
begründen der Past-Rotary-Präsident und ThyssenKrupp-Repräsentant Josef Marous und der aktuelle
Präsident Leonardo De Angelis, die zur Beobachtung
eingeladen hatten, natürlich mit Erwartungen: Fachliche
Beratung, Weiterförderung
(follow-up programs)
dieser hochbegabten Kinder durch Vermittlung von
Kontakten und musikalische Begegnungen in andere
MOSCOW (21st of March 2005 ) „Educational help”
is a guiding theme for the over 30.000 Rotary-Clubs
worldwide; People from different backgrounds, such
as economical, cultural and diplomatic circles work
together and get involved with underprivileged children.
On the occasion of its 100th anniversary, the RotaryClub Moscow International has founded a project to
help musically talented children under 13 years by giving
them a scholarship. In the course of that and thanks
to many donations they were also able to organise a
great competition for piano, strings and wind. After a
tape-round, 20 children were invited to the semifinals in
Moscow. The jury (inter alia the famous cellist Natalia
Gutman and the head of the Moscow conservatory)
chose 8 finalists, that were given prices and scholarships
of up to 100.000 Rubel each. Several days later the
winners had the chance to present themselves with an
orchestra in a concert.
This competition of the Rotary-Club Moscow is applying
for membership in the EMCY; in the expectation
of expert advice, contact with other European
competitions, additional help in the promotion of their
prize winners, etc.

Vom 27. bis 29. April 2005 fand in Ancona der nationale
Teil des Wettbewerbs statt. Als Repräsentant der EMCY
nahm Stefan Mayr teil. Eine große Zahl an Schülerinnen und Schülern der Scuole Medie mit Schwerpunkt
Musik aus ganz Italien nahm daran mit großer Begeisterung und hohem Engagement teil und wetteiferte um
die Preise in den Kategorien Piano (solo, Ensemble),
Gitarre (solo, Ensemble), Streicher (solo, Ensemble),
Bläser (solo, Ensemble), gemischte Ensembles, Kammerorchester und Orchester. Die fachkundig besetzte
Jury vergab eine ansehnliche Reihe von Preisen und
Sonderpreisen verschiedener Sponsoren.
Der international für junge Musiker unter 18 Jahren
ausgeschriebene Teil des Wettbewerbs „Giovani Solisti“
fand vom 13. bis 15. Mai 2005 statt.
Der Concorso Musicale dell‘Adriatico hat die Mitgliedschaft in der EMCY beantragt und wird sicherlich eine
Bereicherung unseres Verbandes darstellen.

The national part of the competition took place in
Ancona from 27th to 29th of April 2005. As EMCY‘s
representative Stefan Mayr was present there. A huge
number of pupils from the middle schools with an
emphasis on music from all over Italy participated in it
enthusiasically and competited for the prizes in the catecories piano (solo, ensemble), guitarre (solo, ensemble),
strings (solo, ensemble), wind (solo, ensemble), mixed
ensembles, chamber orchestra and orchestra. The competent jury dedicated a number of prizes and special
prizes by sponsors.
The international part of the competition was announced for young musicians under the age of 18 and
took place in from 13th to 15th of May 2005.
The Concorso Musicale dell‘Adriatica has applied for
membership in the EMCY. It will certainly be an enrichment for our association.

Płock (POLEN). - Das bieten nur wenige unserer
Kinder- und Jugendwettbewerbe: Preisträger als Solisten
mit Orchester vorzustellen, obwohl die Konzertliteratur
zum geforderten Wettbewerbsrepertoire gehört.
Der neue internationale Wettbewerb schaffte es.
Zu diesen „First international Young Violinists
meeting“, waren Ende April 50 junge Geiger bis zu
15 Jahren in die polnischen Stadt Płock, nordwestlich
von Warschau an der Weichsel gelegen, eingeladen
und dort war
die jüngst total renovierte und
bestens ausgestattete Musikschule der geeignete
Begegnungsort. Das städtische sinfonische Orchester
dieser Chemie-orientierten Industriestadt begleitete
in der Abschlussveranstaltung die ersten Preisträger
der beiden Alterskategorien, die 11jährige polnische
Musikschülerin Patrycja Mynarska bei ihrem Konzert
von M. Bruch und die deutsche Friederike Starkloff,
14 Jahre, mit dem anspruchsvollen Brahms-Konzert Ddur op. 77. Die Jury bescheinigte den Kandidaten, drei
Viertel aus Polen, ein Viertel aus Deutschland, Russland,
Ukraine und den Niederlanden kommend, aufgrund des
vorwiegend virtuos bestimmten, jedoch frei wählbaren
Repertoires außergewöhnlich hohen technischen und
künstlerischen Level. Der Wettbewerb stützt sich sehr
auf die Achse mit Deutschland und den Niederlanden,
so auch in der Jury - unter dem Patronat von Wolfgang
Marschner - mit Wettbewerbs-erfahrenen Professoren
wie Ariane Mathäus, Georg Michel, Werner Scholz aus
Deutschland, Robert Szreder aus Holland, Igor Frolov
aus Russland, Izabela Ceglinska, Roman Lasocki aus
Polen unter der Leitung der Klavierpädagogin Krystyna
Makowska-Ławrynowicz. Ihr Ehemann und Duopartner
und eigentlicher Wettbewerbsinitiator, der international
bekannte Geiger Mirosław Ławrynowicz war kurz
vorher überraschend verstorben, und deshalb erhielt
der Wettbewerb seinen Namen „in memoriam“. Für alle
Preisträger standen neben den Geldpreisen Einladungen
für Kurse und Konzerte in Polen, Deutschland und
Holland zur Verfügung. Im übrigen wurde jeder der 7
Preisträger mit einer originellen Skulptur ausgezeichnet,
die von der polnischen Künstlerin Anna KopećTwardowska extra geschaffen wurde.
Alle zwei Jahre, das nächste Mal also 2007, wird der
vor drei Jahren zunächst national gestartete Wettbewerb
erneut ausgeschrieben werden, dann mit Höchstalter 16

This new international competition did it. To this „First
Internationally Young Violinists meeting“ at the end of
April 50 young violonists up to 15 years were invited
to the Polish city Plock, northwest from Warsaw at
the Weichsel. The recently totally renovated and in the
best way equipped music school was a suitable meeting
place. The Symphony Orchestra of this chemistry-oriented industrial city accompanied the first prizewinners
of the two age categories, the 11years old Polish music
pupil Patrycja Mynarska in the conclusion meeting with
her concert of M. Bruch and the German Friederike
Starkloff, 14 years, with the fastidious Brahms concert
D-Major op. 77. The jury certified the candidates, three
quarters coming from Poland, a quarter from Germany,
Russia, Ukraine and the Netherlands, due to predominantly virtuos determined, however freely selectable
repertoire unusually high technical and artistic level.
The competition is based much upon the axle with Germany and the Netherlands, as also in the jury - under the
patronage of Wolfgang Marschner - with competitionexperienced professors as Ariane Mathaeus, George
Michel, Werner Scholz from Germany, Robert Szreder
from Holland, Igor Frolov from Russia, Izabela Ceglinska, Roman Lasocki from Poland under the line of
the piano-teacher Krystyna Makowska-Lawrynowicz.
Her husband, duo partner and actual competition initiator, the internationally well-known violonist Mirosaw
Lawrynowicz had briefly before surprisingly deceased,
and therefore the competition added to his name „in
memoriam“. For all prizewinners apart from financial
prizes invitations for courses and concerts in Poland,
Germany and Holland were available. In all other respects everyone of the 7 prizewinners was awarded with
an original sculpture, which was specially created by the
Polish artist Anna Kope Twardowska.
Every two years, for the next time in the year 2007, this
competition that started three years ago as a national
competition, will be written out. The age limit will be
16 years.

Up to then one expects member status in the EMCY.
Therefore the EMCY Secretary-General was invited as
guest and observer. In the discussion with the director
of the department of artistic training in the Polish
Ministry of cultur, Maksymilian Celeda took place
a detailed planning discussion for the still stronger
integration of the Polish competitions in the EMCY.

Im Europäischen Jugend-Musik-Festival Passau, das
Anfang November 2004 zum 7. Male stattfand, hat die
EMCY einen neuen interessanten Kooperationspartner,
indem Preisträger internationaler Wettbewerbe einbezogen wurden. Das Festival stand diesmal unter der
Schirmherrschaft der Präsidentin der Republik Lettland,
dessen Jugendkammerorchester „Konsonanse“ aus
Riga das Eröffnungskonzert bestritt. In den 12 Konzerten waren junge Künstler aus den nordeuropäischen
Ländern und aus Deutschland beteiligt. So gaben aus
Norwegen das „Trio Brio“ (Ragnhild Hemsing, Frieda
Waaler, André Haehre), Preisträger vom Europäischen
EMCY-Wettbewerb 2003 in Linz, mit Werken von
Schubert, Grieg, Smetana und Schostakowitsch einen
„Abend der Empfindsamkeit“ (Passauer Neue Presse).
In einem Baltischen Abend ließen sich Preisträger aus
diesen Ländern mit originellen Beiträgen hören.
Alle Künstler fanden vor allem auch bei den Schülern
der Passauer Gymnasien lebhafte Resonanz. Schließlich
sandte die Hochbegabten-Musikschule am Konservatorium St. Petersburg fünf junge Geiger nach Passau, alle
zwischen 15 und 18 Jahre jung, die in der Klasse von
Savely Schalman betreut werden.
With the European Youth-Music-Festival Passau, that
took place at the beginning of November 2004 for
the 7th time, the EMCY found a new interesting cooperating partner because winners of international
competitions were included. The festival stood this
time under the patronage of the president of the
Republic of Lithuania, whose youth chamber orchestra
„Konsonanse“ from Riga played the opening concert. In
the 12 concerts young artists from the north European
countries and from Germany were involved. Thus the
„Trio Brio“ (Ragnhild Hemsing, Frieda Waaler, André
Haehre), from Norway, winners of the European
EMCY competition 2003 in Linz, played works of
Schubert, Grieg, Smetana and Schostakowitsch. In a
Baltic evening prizewinners from these countries played
originally contributions.
All artists found lively resonance with the pupils of
the Passauer Schools. Finally the high talented school
of music at the conservatoire of St. Petersburg sent
five young violonists to Passau, all between 15 and 18
years young, which were cared for in the class by Savely
Schalman.

Eine langjährige Mitarbeiterin scheidet zum 31. Mai 2005
aus familiären Gründen aus: Stefanie Pick. Seit dem Jahr
2002 bereits gehörte sie zum Team von Juventudes Musicales Espana. Ab 1. Juni 2005 wird sie nun neue Aufgaben in einem anderen Bereich der Kulturarbeit übernehmen und dadurch mehr Zeit für ihre Familie haben. Für
die EMCY war sie in Teilzeit mit dem Aufbau des EMCY
Exchange Office betraut. Die Aufgaben für das EMCY
Exchange Office werden ab dem 1.6.2005 Alexandra
Raunig ([email protected]) sowie Silvana
Cortés ([email protected]) übernehmen.
Wir danken Stefanie Pick sehr herzlich für ihren langjährigen engagierten Einsatz für die Europäische Union der

For familary reasons a long-time engaged staff member

Since 2002 she was part of the team of Jeunesses Musicales Spain. Starting from 1st of June 2005 she will now

EU streicht fi nanzielle Förderung für die EMCY
European Union stops its financial support of the
EMCY
Anfang Mai erreichte die Geschäftsstelle der Bescheid
der EU-Kommission, die Arbeit der EMCY im Jahr
2004 finanziell nicht zu unterstützen. Nach der bisherigen langjährigen Förderung (hauptsächlich für die
Arbeit der Geschäftsstelle) kommt diese Nachricht sehr
überraschend. Als Begründung wurde eine ansteigende
Zahl von Zuschussanträgen sowie sinkende Finanzmittel angegeben. EMCY bemüht sich derzeit intensiv, die
nunmehr entstandene, unsichere Finanzlage durch geeignete Maßnahmen (Sponsoren etc.) zu kompensieren.

At the beginning of May EMCY’s office reached the
decision of the EU-Commission not to support the
work of the EMCY in the year 2004 financially. To the
past promotion of many years (main for the work of the
office) this message comes very surprisingly. As reason
a rising number of subsidy requests as well as sinking
financial ressources were indicated. EMCY strives
intensively to compensate the now uncertain financial
situation by suitable measures (sponsors etc..) and to
secure the basic financial by the EU for the next year.

Symphonieorchester des Prager Rundfunks unter Milos
Formácek. Das Konzert und die anschließenden Konzerte
des Südböhmischen Festivals werden vom Tschechischen
Radio und vom EuroRadio-Network übernommen.
