de l’hôpital de La Baie
Cet hôtel vit le jour afin de répondre à l’essor touristique
que connaissait Bagotville en 1880. Propriété du navigateur
écossais Peter McLean, il attirait principalement une clientèle
américaine, entichée de grands espaces et de pêche au saumon.
Malheureusement, un incendie l’a complètement détruit en
1924. Il fallait attendre l’ouverture des auberges d’aujourd’hui
pour revivre l’hôtellerie de luxe à La Baie. À l’emplacement
où se trouvait cet hôtel, le parc McLean, offre un coup d’oeil
époustouflant sur le fjord.

Overlooked the bay to the left
of the La Baie hospital
This hotel was built because of an increase of
tourism in Bagotville in 1880. Peter McLean, ship
navigator and owner of the hotel, catered mainly to
an American clientele whom were attracted by the
nature and salmon fishing. Unfortunately, the hotel
was completely destroyed by fire in 1924. It was
not until much later that comfortable and luxurious
accommodations were available in the La Baie area.
At the same location of the destroyed McLean hotel,
now exists the McLean Park, which offers a beautiful
view of the Saguenay River fjord.
