la 7e Foire Gourmande
Retour de la Foire Gourmande Est ontarien
Clarence/Rockland, vendredi 6 mai 2016 - Le Foire Gourmande se joint au Festival de
la Rivière des Outaouais (FRO) pour une deuxième année consécutive et sera de retour
le 3 juillet 2016 au Parc du Moulin à Rockland. Le lancement de la Foire Gourmande et
du FRO a eu lieu lors d’un 5 @ 7 au Café de Joël à Rockland le 6 mai 2016.
L’an passé, plus de 2000 personnes ont visité la Foire Gourmande. Il s’agit là d’une
belle visibilité pour les exposants et ça démontre l’engouement des consommateurs
envers les produits de chez nous.
« Depuis les dernières années, les consommateurs sont de plus en plus conscients de
l’impact de consommer des aliments qui sont produits localement. Ce n’est pas
seulement bénéfique pour leur bien-être, mais c'est aussi un moyen d’encourager une
économie locale, en soutenant les agriculteurs et les entrepreneurs près de chez soi et
en créant des emplois. Des études montrent que la consommation locale permet de
soutenir fortement l’économie rurale d’un territoire. L’argent dépensé localement est
réinvesti localement », a déclaré Réjean Ouimet, président du Réseau Agroalimentaire.
Plaisir et gourmandise !
Pour cette 7e édition, le comité organisateur prépare une tonne de surprises ! La
programmation est exceptionnellement variée et intéressante pour tous les groupes
d’âges.
Puisqu’il est important d’instaurer de saines habitudes alimentaires dès un très jeune
âge, un coin spécialement conçu pour les enfants fera le bonheur des petits. Ils pourront
s’amuser tout en apprenant à bien se nourrir et à comprendre la provenance de la
nourriture qu’ils consomment. On y trouvera, entre autre, des structures de jeux
gonflables, une station de maquillage ludique, ainsi qu’une station d’apprentissage et de
dégustation. De plus, grâce à un partenariat, le Conseil des Arts de Prescott et Russell
dirigera une activité culturelle et artistique où les enfants pourront développer leur talent
créatif.
Pour les plus grands, sous le chapiteau des exposants, un aménagement de style
lounge permettra aux visiteurs de déguster de délicieuses bouchées de produits locaux
et siroter une bonne bière locale en regardant les chefs en action.
En plus de déguster les délicieux produits que les exposants prépareront avec soin,
toute la journée, plusieurs présentations auront lieu sous le chapiteau. Vous ne voudrez
pas manquer les démonstrations culinaires ainsi que les différents conférenciers, qui
partageront leur savoir-faire.
Musique et humour
Afin d’en offrir encore plus aux visiteurs, un volet spectacle a été ajouté à la
programmation. La Foire s’est associée avec des artistes qui ont à cœur leur région et
qui contribue à faire rayonner l’Est ontarien au-delà des frontières.
C’est avec une grande fierté que le comité a présenté la nouvelle porte-parole de la
Foire Gourmande, Mélissa Ouimet. Elle fait vibrer ses cordes vocales au rythme du rock
depuis plus de 10 ans. L’auteure-compositrice-interprète s’approprie les scènes, les
unes après les autres, aussi bien en français qu’en anglais. Le 1er avril dernier à la
Nouvelle-Scène d’Ottawa, elle lançait son premier album éponyme.
« C’est avec une grande fierté que j’ai accepté de parrainer ce projet rassembleur. Je
suis fière de ma région et c’est un privilège de pouvoir participer au rayonnement de nos
artisans agroalimentaire » a affirmé Mélissa Ouimet
Vous pourrez également vous divertir lors de la prestation de Maxime Carrière, un jeune
humoriste et imitateur originaire de Hawkesbury. Artiste dans l’âme, il a participé à
plusieurs spectacles, concours et émissions télévisuelles. Il sillonne le Québec et
l’Ontario participant à différents festivals, événements communautaires et corporatifs
partageant sa passion et promouvant la francophonie.

Mélissa Ouimet, pleasure and good food at
the 7th Foire Gourmande
Clarence/Rockland, Friday May 6, 2016 - The gourmet festival Foire
Gourmande joins the Ottawa River Festival for a second consecutive year and
will return July 3rd, at the du Moulin Park in Rockland.
Last year, over 2,000 persons visited the Foire Gourmande. It’s a great visibility
occasion for exhibitors and it clearly shows that consumers are enthusiastic
towards local products. Consumers are increasingly aware of the impact of
consuming locally produced foods. This is not only beneficial to their well-being,
but also a way to encourage local economy, support farmers and entrepreneurs
close to home as well as creating jobs. Studies show that local consumption can
greatly support the rural economy of a region. Money spent locally is reinvested
locally.
Pleasure and good food!
For this 7th edition, the organizing committee is preparing a ton of surprises! The
2016 program is exceptionally varied and interesting for all ages.
Because it’s important to establish healthy eating habits from an early age, an
area will be specially set-up for children. The kids will have fun while learning to
eat well and to understand where the food they eat comes from. Inflatable game
structures, a fun makeup station, as well as a learning and tasting station will
delight our younger visitors.
In addition, a partnership has been established with the Prescott and Russell Arts
Council, and they will lead a cultural and artistic activity for kids to develop their
creative talents.
The exhibitors’ tent, with a section set-up in a lounge-style, will allow guests to
enjoy delicious tastings of local products and enjoy a local beer while watching
the chefs in action. In addition to tasting the products carefully prepared by the
exhibitors, several presentations will take place during the day.
You will not want to miss the cooking demonstrations and different speakers who
will share their expertise.
Music and humor
In order to offer more to our visitors, an artistic component was added to the
program. The Foire has partnered with artists who have the region at heart and
contribute in promoting Eastern Ontario beyond borders.
It is with great pleasure that the committee presented the new spokesperson of
the Foire, Mélissa Ouimet. Franco-Ontarian singer-songwriter, she’s been
signing to the rhythm of rock for over ten years. She owns the scenes one after
the other in both French and English. Her first album was launched in Ottawa on
April 1st.
Also, Maxime Carrière, a young comedian and impersonator native of
Hawkesbury will have the visitors laughing in the afternoon. An artist at heart, he
has participated in several shows, competitions and television broadcasts. He
travels through Quebec and Ontario participating in various festivals, community
and corporate events sharing his passion and promoting the Francophonie.

Festival goers have many things to celebrate!
Clarence-Rockland, May 6th, 2016 – The activities of the Ottawa River Festival’s
(ORF) fifth edition, will leave no one indifferent. The regional committee launched
its programing on Friday May 6th, 2016, at Joel's Coffee in Rockland. The
Festival will be held from June 29th to July 3rd 2016.
"Already at the 5th edition of the Ottawa River Festival therefore five years of
celebrating altogether our beautiful river. We have come a long way in those five
years,” said Mr. Guy Desjardins, Mayor of the City of Clarence-Rockland and
Warden of the United Counties of Prescott and Russell.
The ORF celebrates its 5th anniversary
The Festival was founded in 2012 through a regional partnership that was formed
between all riverfront municipalities, the United Counties of Prescott and Russell
and several private and community partners to offer tourists a range of
recreational and family activities on the banks of the Ottawa River. The growing
participation demonstrates the enthusiasm of the residents for this great initiative.
To mark the festival’s 5th anniversary, a contest was launched to find a name for
its new mascot. A nice dog will delight young and old during the Festival as it
appears on different sites.
Plenty of activities
For five years now, the five riverside municipalities share two common activities
on Saturday, July 2nd, being the performance boats that will leave Du Moulin Park
in Rockland to take part in the Power Boating Canada Poker Run as well as the
Rockland Ford Classic Poker Run who will travel a scenic route straddling the
Ontario and Quebec provinces. Like every year, these activities will impress
residents and visitors.
As the last five years, the villages of Chute-à-Blondeau, L'Orignal and Lefaivre
will be celebrating on July 2nd with activities for the whole family.
Hawkesbury
The Town of Hawkesbury will celebrate Canada Day during the Festival, Friday
July 1st. Several new activities are scheduled for Saturday, July 2nd. Water sports
enthusiasts can view demonstrations and test equipment such as stand up
paddle, kayaking, wake surfing, etc ... acrobatic enthusiasts can try the Jumpaï,
an acrobatic bungee accessible to all. Culture enthusiasts can attend an art
exhibition organized by the Prescott and Russell Arts Council and a heritage
exhibition presented by the Centre Culturel Le Chenail. The evening will end with
an open-air cinema.
Rockland
Du Moulin Park will celebrate during five consecutive days to hold Ottawa River
Festival activities, including Canada Day and the Foire Gourmande. Wednesday,
June 29th, is the movie under the stars at 9 pm with the presentation of Zootopia.
Thursday, June 30th on the Desjardins stage, fans of classic rock will be
delighted to attend the legendary rock group April Wine, with Sterling as opening
act. Friday, July 1st; Canada Day will be held exceptionally in Du Moulin Park.
Imagine the dazzling fireworks on the river bank.
Saturday, July 2nd throughout the day, activities for the whole family will take
place. In the evening, the banquet will be followed by the performances of
Laurent Paquin and Martin Vachon on the Desjardins stage. The Foire
Gourmande joins the Ottawa River Festival for a second consecutive year and
will return July 3rd at the Du Moulin Park in Rockland.
