General Information
BioBall
®
BioBall is a small water soluble ball containing a precise number of microorganisms
delivering unprecedented accuracy for quantitative microbiological quality control.
BioBall MultiShot 550
®
• Each BioBall has a batch mean between 500 and 600 CFU
• Standard deviation is 10% or less of the batch mean
• When rehydrated in 1.1 ml of rehydration fluid, one BioBall provides ten 100uL
doses, each containing 50 CFU
• 8-hour stability when rehydrated and stored at 2-8ºC
• Ideal when several controls are needed at the same time or within the same day
BioBall SingleShot
®
• Each BioBall has a batch mean between 28 and 33 CFU (unless otherwise stated)
• Standard deviation of 3 CFU or less (unless otherwise stated)
• Ideal when only a few inoculations are used within the day or the highest level of
precision is required
BioBall HighDose 10K
®
• Each BioBall has a batch mean between 8000 and 12000 CFU (unless otherwise stated)
• Standard deviation of 15% or less of the batch mean (unless otherwise stated)
• Ideal when a single precise inoculation at a higher CFU level is required
BioBall MultiShot 10e8
®
• Each BioBall has a batch mean between 0.7 and 1.5 x 10e8 CFU
• Standard deviation of 20% or less of the batch mean
• When rehydrated in 1.1 ml of rehydration fluid, one BioBall provides ten 100uL
doses, each containing 10e7 CFU
• Ideal for products that require the testing of the efficacy of antimicrobial preservation
• Each 100uL aliquot can be used to inoculate 20ml of product, resulting in the
required final concentration of 10e5 to 10e6 CFU/ml of product

BUTTON
Tear open foil pouch at notch
and remove device. Remove label
from the outside of the pouch.

Place the label from the
pouch onto the culture
media.

With the applicator at a slight
angle to the vial, squeeze
the ampoule dispensing the
hydration fluid into vial.

Re-insert applicator into vial
and gently mix from side-toside. Do not invert.

Unscrew applicator from vial.

angle to vial, activate ampoule

Usage
LyfoCults Plus Quant are a one-step dilution of freeze dried microorganism preparations that deliver less than 100
CFU per 0.1 mL of challenge material after hydration all in one device.

BUTTON
Allow to come to room
temperature. Tear open foil
pouch at notch and remove
device. Remove label from the
outside of the pouch.

Place label on Culture
Media.

With the applicator at a slight
angle to the vial, squeeze
the ampoule dispensing the
hydration fluid into vial.

Streak the media for isolation
and incubate in appropriate
atmosphere.
Unscrew applicator from vial
to vent. Holding applicator at
a slight angle to vial, activate
ampoule by squeezing
button firmly.

Re-insert applicator to vial
and gently aspirate fluid back
and forth into ampoule to
mix. Do not invert.

Hold vertical and using
ampoule as a transfer pipette,
place two drops of the
suspension on culture media
(<100 CFU). Alternatively, use
a pipette to transfer 0.1 ml on
to the culture media.
Discard used LyfoCults®
Plus Quant in an appropriate
biohazard receptacle.
