LE CENTRE EMILE BERNHEIM EN 2008 Le Centre Emile Bernheim (CEB), présidé en 2008 par le Professeur André Farber (jusqu’en août) puis le Professeur Alain Eraly (à partir de septembre) et dirigé par le Professeur Ariane Szafarz, est l’Institut de Recherche en Sciences de Gestion de l’Université Libre de Bruxelles (ULB). Il regroupe des professeurs, assistants et chercheurs en Finance, Marketing, Innovation Technologique & Gestion de la Propriété Intellectuelle, Fiscalité, Economie Internationale, Stratégie & Gouvernance d’entreprise, Comptabilité & Contrôle, Histoire Economique et Financière, Méthodes Quantitatives de Gestion, Ressources Humaines & Organisation, Microfinance (CERMi) et Etudes Economiques et Sociales de l’Environnement (CEESE). Ses bureaux sont situés au 21, avenue F. D. Roosevelt (1050 Bruxelles). Il entretient des liens étroits avec la Solvay Brussels School of Economics and Management (SBS-EM) et bénéficie du soutien financier de la Fondation Bernheim. Le CEB développe la recherche tant fondamentale qu’appliquée, encourage la production de thèses de doctorat, la publication d’articles et ouvrages scientifiques, y compris les études de cas originales, organise des réunions scientifiques et accueille plusieurs professeurs et chercheurs visiteurs. Le CEB organise le Research Seminar in Applied Economics and Management (RSAEM), placé, en 2008, sous la direction des Professeurs Christian Bluemelhuber et Pierre-Guillaume Méon, en collaboration avec la SBS-EM et le DULBEA, ainsi que des cours doctoraux dans le domaine des sciences de la gestion. Les professeurs visiteurs du CEB participent souvent aux enseignements du Master en Ingénieur en Sciences de Gestion, du MBA, du Master Complémentaire Conjoint en Microfinance ou du Programme Doctoral de la SBS-EM. Les informations spécifiques sur ces activités permanentes, les Working Papers récents, les statuts du CEB ainsi que les coordonnées des membres peuvent être trouvés sur le site internet suivant : http://www.solvay.edu/EN/Research/Bernheim/index.php. ♦ ♦ ♦ 2 En 2008, le CEB a aussi accueilli de nombreux nouveaux membres et a adapté sa structure de la manière suivante : • Bastien Drut (doctorant sous contrat CIFRE) et Maximilian Vermorken ont rejoint le Département de Finance en tant que nouveaux chercheurs. • Le Département de Marketing accueille à présent Wojtek Lapinski (chercheur). • Carine Peeters est devenue membre du collège de direction Département de Gestion de l’Innovation Technologique et de la Propriété Intellectuelle. Joël Ludvigsen rejoint ce département en tant que chercheur. • David Acitores, nouvel assistant en stratégie, devient membre du Département de Stratégie et de Gouvernance d’Entreprise. • Le Département de Comptabilité et Contrôle voit son équipe renforcée par l’arrivée de Pascale Phan-Than et Christos Tsatsis (assistants). • Stéphanie Collet, première bénéficiaire de la bourse doctorale Marie-Christine Adam, rejoint le Département d’Histoire Economique et Financière. • Le Département de Ressources Humaines et Organisation accueille quatre nouveaux chercheurs : Vincent Dethier, Marie Goransson (qui bénéficie du soutien de la Fondation Bernheim), Nicolas Görtz (chercheur Mini-Arc) et Bruno Roche. Thibaut Duvillier, chargé d’enseignement, rejoint également l’équipe. • Le CERMI (Académie Wallonie-Bruxelles), dont la vocation est internationale, s’étoffe considérablement depuis sa création puisqu’un grand nombre de professeurs visiteurs en deviennent membres: Arvind Ashta (Burgundy School of Business, FR), Ranjula Bali Swain (Uppsala Universitet, Finland), Johan Bastiaensen (Institute of Development Policy and Management - Universiteit Antwerpen, BE), James Copestake (University of Bath, UK), Geert Demuijnck (Université Catholique de Lille, FR), Isabelle Guérin (French Institute of Pondicherry, India), Begona Gutierrez Nieto (Universidad de Zaragoza, Spain), Valentina Hartaska (Auburn University, US), Solène Morvant-Roux (Université Lumière Lyon 2, FR), Mankal Shankar Sriram (Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad, India) et Jean-Michel Servet (Institut des Hautes Etudes Internationales et du Développement, Suisse). Laure Jaunaux, Roy Mersland, Ephrem Niyongabo et Clare Pearson rejoignent l’équipe de chercheurs. • Un nouveau Département a été accueilli au CEB : le CEESE (Centre d’Etudes Economiques et Sociales de l’Environnement). Le collège de direction est composé 3 de Walter Hecq et Marek Hudon. Les chercheurs sont Mateo Cordier, Johanna D’Hernoncourt, Frédéric Klopfert, Marion Englert, Eve Giron, Hélène Joachain, Fanny Lecrombs, Julien Louviau, Kevin Maréchal, Sandrine Meyer, Audrey Polard et Delphine Sacre. André Fontana et Gisèle Jung, anciennement membres du Département de Gestion de l’Innovation Technologique et de la Propriété Intellectuelle, rejoignent le CEESE. Bruno Kestemont et Christian Ferdinand en sont Collaborateurs Scientifiques et Kate Weir la coordonnatrice. ♦ ♦ ♦ Parmi les réunions scientifiques organisées par le CEB, on relève la Journée d’étude « Quel avenir et quelle place pour les biocarburants en Belgique ? » qui s’est déroulée le 22 janvier 2008. Le 16 mai 2008 a eu lieu la Conférence internationale « Gender mainstreaming in Microfinance : Current debates and Innovation », organisée par Linda Mayoux (International consultant on gender and microfinance with Oxfam Novib, World Bank and IFAD) et Beatriz Armendariz (Harvard University, University College London, and CERMi). La Conférence de Rentrée du Centre Européen de Recherche en Microfinance (CERMi) et du Master Complémentaire Conjoint (MCC) en Microfinance s’est déroulée le 8 octobre 2008. La conférence magistrale a été donnée par Syed Hashemi, Docteur en Economie de l’Université de Californie à Riverside et Senior Microfinance Specialist au Consultative Group to Assist the Poor (CGAP, le principal consortium de bailleurs de fonds publics et privés en microfinance). Dans le cadre de l’accord entre les Ecoles Doctorales en Gestion de l’Université de Paris I – Panthéon – Sorbonne et de l’Université Libre de Bruxelles, s’est tenue à Paris le 16 décembre 2008 la « Sixième Journée de collaboration scientifique entre les Ecoles Doctorales en Gestion de l’Université Paris I - Panthéon - Sorbonne et l’Université Libre de 4 Bruxelles ». Ces journées annuelles donnent l’occasion aux jeunes chercheurs de présenter leurs travaux. ♦ ♦ ♦ Ce rapport présente les unités de recherche du CEB selon la structure qui prévalait au cours de l’année 2008, puis figurent les séminaires, conférences, cours doctoraux et thèses défendues. La liste des publications est déclinée par types de contributions. Enfin, les participations au rayonnement de l’Université incluent les conférences, les cours en tant que professeurs visiteurs mais aussi les missions d’experts qui amènent notamment les membres du CEB à siéger dans des comités scientifiques ou à intervenir dans la formation en entreprise. FinRiskLab - Workshop doctoral en finance FinRiskLab est une table ronde en Finance organisée par le Professeur Hugues Pirotte. FinRiskLab est ouvert à tous les professeurs et doctorants dans le domaine de la finance et sert de vecteur d’information. Il se réunit en principe tous les 1er vendredis du mois pour : • discuter des recherches en cours • échanger les expériences doctorales et identifier les possibilités de collaboration entre doctorants ainsi qu’entre doctorants et mémorants de la SBS-EM, • conserver une relation suivie entre les doctorants « internes » et « externes » (non ancrés à la SBS-EM), • examiner la situation des doctorants (mandats, financement), • coordonner les participations aux réunions scientifiques, • parcourir ensemble les nouvelles publications dans le domaine de la Finance. FinRiskLab est membre du Finance Club of Brussels, ce qui lui permet d’interagir avec des professionnels du secteur à Bruxelles et d’identifier ensemble des pistes de développements futurs. FinRiskLab alimente ainsi la section académique du portail du Finance Club of Brussels. Enfin, FinRiskLab apporte aux chercheurs de la SBS-EM un accès à des données. Conférence de Rentrée du CERMi et du MCC en Microfinance Le 8 octobre 2008 a eu lieu la Conférence de Rentrée du Centre Européen de Recherche en Microfinance (CERMi) et du Master Complémentaire Conjoint (MCC) en Microfinance. La conférence magistrale a été donnée par Syed HASHEMI, Docteur en Economie de l’Université de Californie à Riverside et Senior Microfinance Specialist au Consultative Group to Assist the Poor (CGAP, le principal consortium de bailleurs de fonds publics et privés en microfinance). De nombreuses personnalités académiques étaient présentes. L’Académie Wallonie-Bruxelles était notamment représentée par les Professeurs Philippe Vincke (Recteur, ULB) et Giuseppe Pagano (Doyen de la Faculté Warocqué, UMH). C’est dorénavant dans ce cadre commun à trois universités que la SBS-EM forme ses doctorants en Sciences de Gestion.
