*UPDATED* Request for Proposals: New Pin/Medal for the Robert Jekyll Award for Leadership in Craft The Canadian Crafts Federation (CCF) is seeking a craftsperson to create a new pin or medal to be presented as the official award for the Robert Jekyll Award for Leadership in Craft. Previously called The Robert Jekyll President’s Award (since 2006), this recognition celebrates distinguished contributors to the craft sector and is one of the highest markers of exceptional commitment to the development of the craft community in Canada. Deadline for Submissions: Thursday, July 23rd, 2015. Budget: Up to $1,500 inclusive (includes design, copyright, production, and shipping) End of Project: Summer 2015. Recipients of the Robert Jekyll Award for Leadership in Craft are a revered group of individuals who are recognized for their significant contributions toward fostering community in the field of contemporary Canadian craft. Recipients receive recognition and a medal/pin to commemorate these achievements at the annual CCF Conference held in September each year. Past recipients of the “Robert Jekyll President’s Award” will also receive a medal/pin to recognize their work in the craft community. Type of Work to be Considered: ● 15 Medal/Pins ● all materials are eligible, however, durability will be a defining factor in the selection Exclusivity: The selected design will be used exclusively for the Robert Jekyll Award for Leadership in Craft. The budget for this project includes the fee for copyright of the selected design. The CCF will hold the right to graphically reproduce the design of the award for promotional purposes. Budget: The total budget established for this project is $1,500 inclusive. The budget includes (but is not necessarily limited to): artist fees, design, engineering fees, fabrication installation, insurance, photography, materials, etc. Schedule: RFP call to artists closes: Selection process ends: Notification to selected artist(s): Design and development: Fabrication and delivery: Unveiling: July 23, 2015 July 30, 2015 July 30, 2015 Summer 2015 September 11, 2015 September 25, 2015 (Quebec City) Selection Panel: Three members of the CCF Awards Committee will convene to review all proposals and submissions. At the conclusion of the process, the panel may recommend a selected candidate for the project. Selection Criteria: Submissions will be reviewed and decisions made based on: ● Artist’s qualifications and proven capability to produce high quality work; ● Artistic, innovative, and technical merit of the proposal; ● Probability of successful completion. Submission Requirements: All submissions should contain the following items in the following order: ● Cover page (1 page) including: Name, Full Address, Phone, Email, Website ● A letter of interest (300 words) including the artist’s intent, rationale, and a preliminary description of the approach for this particular award request. The letter should address the selection criteria (above) and include a statement about artistic discipline and practice. Outline your experience as an artist working in similar partnerships. ● Resume/ Curriculum Vitae ● Images of Past Work (min. 3, max. 5 - one image per page full size). Please provide a list describing each image (title of work, date, and the image file name). Submission Guidelines: Paper submissions are acceptable via mail or delivered in person. Electronic submissions are accepted and encouraged. Submissions must be complete and strictly adhere to the guidelines and submission requirements (above) or risk not be considered. Faxed submissions will not be accepted. ● Please do not submit any original materials or files. Submission will NOT be returned. Electronic submissions: ● Must be submitted in MS word or PDF format. Do not submit materials that require plugins or other extensions that need to be downloaded or installed. Do not compress (zip) files. ● Files must not be larger than 10MB. Deadline for submission: Submissions must be received no later than Thursday, July 23, 2015, 4:00 PM Eastern Time. This is not a postmark date. It is the applicant’s responsibility to ensure the submission package reaches the Canadian Crafts Federation by the deadline.
