EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES JOB OPPORTUNITY Scientific Assistant The Alberta RNA Research and Training Institute (ARRTI) at the University of Lethbridge requests applications for the position of a Scientific Assistant in the research group of Dr. HansJoachim Wieden, Laboratory for Biomolecular Design and Engineering. Funding for this position is available for 2.5 years, with the potential of renewal. The successful candidate will be responsible for some of the research related administrative needs of the group, preparation of scientific publications, as well as participate in ongoing or developing research initiatives of the group. Therefore a post-secondary degree in Biochemistry, Biology or related research fields is desired. This position is located in Camrose, AB. The Department of Science invites applications for a tenure-track position in Chemistry at the rank of Assistant Professor, commencing on July 01, 2016. The incumbent will join a growing program and a collegial environment that provide unique opportunities for faculty-student interaction and interdisciplinary collaboration. Responsibilities associated with this position include: undergraduate teaching; availability to students for informal mentoring/advising; the maintenance of an active research program; and service (potentially involving contributions to program assessment and development; participation in the governance of the Department, Faculty and University; the dissemination of knowledge to the general public; and engagement with disciplinary associations). Specific to these responsibilities, the successful candidate must be able to demonstrate: a record of effective teaching at the undergraduate level; an ability to teach courses in both physical and inorganic chemistry; an existing research program with clear potential for future growth and development and the inclusion of undergraduate students; and a record of active engagement or leadership with important service activities. Applicants will have a Ph.D. in Chemistry and a background in physical and/or inorganic chemistry. The Augustana Faculty of the University of Alberta enrols over 1000 undergraduate students in baccalaureate degree programs on a picturesque residential campus in the city of Camrose, 90 kilometers southeast of Edmonton.
