SCHENGEN VISA – MAILED APPLICATION NOTICE
Important information – please read carefully:
All regular rules and regulations pertaining to Schengen visa applications still apply. Applicants
must review the website before applying.
Eligibility to apply by mail
If you have obtained in the past 5 years a Schengen visa with the mention “VIS”, and live outside
the Lower Mainland*, you may mail your Schengen visa application.
If you have obtained a visa in the past 5 years with the mention “VIS 0” or without any mention at
all, you must file your application in person in Vancouver.
If you live in the Lower Mainland, you must still book and appointment and file your application in
person.
Submitting the documents
Checklist and a full set of documents must be provided for each applicant (including
children).
Please refer to our website for details about all the required documents. The following checklist is to
be used as a guideline to prepare the application.
Files that do not include copies or signed forms will be returned without being reviewed.
Multiple applications can be mailed together, however, please note that each application must have
all the required documents and copies, even for family members travelling together.
One envelope and one payment form can be submitted for families. Envelopes must be Canada
Post Xpresspost and bear your address legibly. It is the responsibility of the applicant to ensure that
the address is correct. The consulate will not be held liable for lost envelopes.
Application process
No information about the status of mailed applications will be provided. Do not call or email the
consulate after you have sent your application.
Processing times will vary with the volume of applications received by the consulate. Applications
will be processed in the order in which they have been received.
Applicants who wish to file their applications in person are still welcome to book an appointment
and file their application at the consulate in Vancouver. Applicants within three weeks of their
intended departure date are strongly advised to come in person.
The consulate reserves the right to ask for additional documents.
* The Lower Mainland includes cities and communities of Metro Vancouver and the Central and Lower Fraser
Valley.

Two recent visa application photos (35mmx45mm)
Passport + copy of its main pages (and any Schengen visa)
Proof of status in Canada (PR card, study permit, work permit or visitor record) + copy
Proof of socio-professional status in Canada (letter from employer, school or university) + copy
Proof of financial means: last 3 bank statements and customer snapshot + copies
Proof of travel medical insurance + copy
Flight itinerary + copy
Proof of accommodation (hotel booking, attestation d’accueil, lease…) + copy
Travel plan (if visiting more than one Schengen country)
If applicable, any document supporting the reason for your visit to France: school enrolment
letter, proof of participation in a conference, invitation from company etc…
For minors (under 18 years old): birth certificate and parental authorization + copies
Processing fee: payment form (on page 3) + copy of both sides of the credit card used
Self-addressed, letter-sized Xpresspost envelope for the return of the passport and original
documents
