Walk with Donkeys Sanctuary.
Alistair & Suzanne run a small donkey sanctuary, near Ierapetra which currently has 10
rescued donkeys which they care for. These donkeys have generally had a hard working life but
they are now given love and the care they deserve.
Alistair & Suzanne are trying to do something positive to help. As well as caring for their
own donkeys they assist owners in surrounding villages and help to organize the outreach
programme of The Greek Animal Welfare Fund whose vet and farrier treat donkeys in the
villages. GAWF have also trained them in the care of donkeys, so that they can carry out
simple procedures, give injections and diagnose ailments.
To help raise funds they offer walks in the mountains around Anatoli and rides for children.
They hope to work with disadvantaged individuals who can benefit from the therapeutic effect
of these wonderful animals. If you want a walk or ride, telephone to make arrangements.
