Good practice #1:
Research
As solutions are context dependent “Good practice” has to do with:
a.
b.
c.
d.
e.
Building up knowledge (all context factors)
Orchestrating actors
Design a strategy shared by stakeholders (incl finance strategy)
Facilitate needed NFS: farm extension, BDS
Design appropriate finance strategy & financial product for
this type of clients
Good practice #2:
17
“Reduce risks for farmers, and finance will follow”
•
•
•
•
Exploit all opportunities for risk mitigation in the chain
This is the common interest between farmers, POs and FIs
Farmers cannot do it by themselves, they need POs
PO’s cannot do it by themselves, they need chain actors
FIs and service providers
