It produces eaux-de-vie and liqueurs famous for their true character. This is possible due to a high quality distillation process using water from a privately-owned source, as this is an important part in obtaining purity in distillates. The domaine was taken over by his son-in-law Gérard Boudot, who arrived in 1974, but in 1991 the inheritance was split up between the three grandchildren, one of whom (Jean-Marc Boillot) chose to take out his share. The vineyards have been farmed organically since 2006 and after two years of experimentation all switched to biodynamic cultivation from 2010. The grapes are sorted to remove grey rot where necessary, then pressed without crushing and fermented in oak until racking into tank before the next harvest, for a further six months élévage on the fine lees. The premiers crus receive between 20 per cent (La Garenne) and 33 per cent (Combettes) new oak with 40 per cent for the grands crus. The property has become a major emblem of Rhone Valley winegrowing, from the time when Georges Vernay saved the Condrieu appellation to the international awards earned by Christine Vernay’s Côte-Rôtie (she was named 2012 Best Winemaker in France by ‘Le guide Bettane et Desseauve’. Three generations have left the mark of the philosophy on the estate, while perpetuating its traditions in the greatest respect for both vines and winegrowers. It is similar to dry fino Sherry and gets its character from being matured in a barrel under a film of yeast known as the voile that forms on the wine surface, This is how the wine achieves its yellow color and nutty flavor (minimum six years and three months after harvest). The wine is then bottled in 62cl Clavelins, the traditional bottle of Vin Jaune, which alludes to the amount of wine remaining after the evaporation process during the ageing. 17 | P a g e All prices are stated in US Dollars subject to 10% service charge and prevailing government taxes Italy Piedmont Gavi di Gavi, “Black Label”, La Scolca Langhe, “Rossj-Bass”, Angelo Gaja 2013 2009 184 248 2014 70 2013 2006 66 99 Veneto, “Il Calto Delle Fate”, Il Filo Delle Vigne 2007 87 Alois Lageder, Pinot Bianco 2013 69 2013 2008 2013 2011 2012 62 69 79 83 149 Tuscany Toscana Vermentino, La Spinetta Friuli & Umbria Grave del Friuli “Pinot Grigio”, Le Due Torri Collio, “Klin”, Primosic Veneto Others Vermentino di Sardegna “Costamolino”, Argiolas LacrIma Christi del Vesuvio, Sannino Lugana, Cadei I Frati Fiano di Avellino, Mastroberardino Sicilia, Chardonnay, Planeta 18 | P a g e All prices are stated in US Dollars subject to 10% service charge and prevailing government taxes Austria Kamptal & Kremstal Sepp Moser ”Von den Terrassen”, Gruner Veltliner 2011 75 2013 2012 2013 2014 2013 2012 2013 2011 2011 2012 1994 1989 1999 2003 2004 2012 36 39 41 38 45 52 48 83 83 83 89 99 109 142 142 190 Germany Mosel & Rheingau Balthassar Ress, Von Unserm, Riesling Kabinett, off dry Dr. Von Basssermann-Jordan, Gutsabfüllung, Riesling dry Dr Bűrklin-Wolf “ Villa Bűrklin” Trocken dry Wittmann, Riesling Trocken dry Balthassar Ress, Von Unserm, Riesling Trocken dry Dr Bűrklin-Wolf , Riesling Trocken dry Wittmann, Silvaner Trocken dry Von Hovel “Oberemmeler”, Riesling Kabinett, off dry Balthassar Ress “Von Unsern”, Riesling Trocken, dry Balthassar Ress “Von Unsern”, Riesling Trocken, dry Balthassar Ress, Rheingau Riesling, Kabinett, off dry Balthassar Ress, Rheingau Riesling, Spälese, off dry Balthassar Ress, Rheingau Riesling, Spälese, off dry Dr Bűrklin-Wolf “ Ungeheur” Riesling Trocken dry Dr Bűrklin-Wolf “ Ungeheur” Riesling Trocken dry Wittmann, Westhofen Kirchspiel, Grosse Gewäch, Riesling Troken Spain Galicia, Castilla y León, Valencia & Rioja Valdeorras, “Gaba Do Xil”, Telmo Rodríguez Valdeorras, “Louro do Bolo”, Rafael Palacios Valdeorras, “Louro do Bolo”, Rafael Palacios Valdeorras, “As Sortes”, Rafael Palacios Francisco Gomez, “Gold Edicion” 2012 2009 2010 2008 NV 59 79 79 145 827 19 | P a g e All prices are stated in US Dollars subject to 10% service charge and prevailing government taxes South Africa Stellenbosch Raats, "Original", Unwooded Chenin Blanc Raats, "Old Vines", Chenin Blanc Raats, "Old Vines", Chenin Blanc 2013 2011 2012 58 74 83 Delaire Graff, Chenin Blanc Delaire Graff, Sauvignon Blanc Delaire Graff, Chardonnay 2014 2014 2013 39 49 55 Keermont, Terasse, Chenin Blanc/Chardonnay 2013 55 Vuurberg, "White Blend” Meerlust, Chardonnay Ken Forester, “FMC”, Chenin Blanc 2013 2009 2008 60 170 248 Marianne Estate, Sauvignon Blanc Marianne Estate, Sauvignon Blanc 2013 2011 40 40 Cartology, by Alheit Family 2013 92 20 | P a g e All prices are stated in US Dollars subject to 10% service charge and prevailing government taxes Walker Bay & Hemel-en-Aarde Valley La Vierge, “Temptation”, Sauvignon Blanc La Vierge, “Original Sin”, Sauvignon Blanc La Vierge, “Jezebelle”, Chardonnay N.V 2014 2013 36 39 44 Whale Pod, Sauvignon Blanc by Creation Creation, Sauvignon Blanc - Semillon 2014 2014 39 60 Felicité, Chardonnay, by Newton Johnson Newton Johnson, Sauvignon Blanc Newton Johnson, Chardonnay 2014 2014 2013 39 44 90 Southern Right, Sauvignon Blanc by Hamilton Russel Ashbourne, Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay Ashbourne « Sandstone » by Hamilton Russel Hamilton Russell Vineyards, Chardonnay Hamilton Russell Vineyards, Chardonnay Hamilton Russell Vineyards, Chardonnay 2014 2014 2009 2014 2012 2011 55 39 79 119 133 250 2014 2007 2009 2014 36 90 106 39 Paarl & Others Simply Wine, Chenin Blanc / Chardonnay by Dorrance The Foundry, Viognier Glen Carlou, Chardonnay Constantia Glen, Sauvignon Blanc 21 | P a g e All prices are stated in US Dollars subject to 10% service charge and prevailing government taxes Swartland Independent Nativo, by The Hughes Family 2013 57 Blackwater, Chenin Blanc Blackwater, Sauvignon Blanc 2014 2013 44 36 Mullineux, “White Blend” 2012 77 A.A. The Legend says that a feudal landlord named Lord Maugiron gave each of his daughters one of the two main hills. One slope went to the blonde haired daughter while the brunette was awarded the other, Côte Blonde and Côte Brune. Many people find the blonde to be more open, giving and sensual. Selected aszu berries (those affected by noble rot) are added in varying proportions to the must of basic “dry wine” grapes. The puttonyos system is still employed: a 27.2 kg basket of noble rotted grapes equates to 1 puttony, and the number of baskets added to a given quantity (136 litres) of dry wine dictates the aszu number. The higher the number, the sweeter the wine is. Oremus, “Aszu”, 5 Puttonyos, By Pablo Alvarez (Sweet) Oremus, Furmint-Harslevelu, By Pablo Alvarez (Dry) 2005 2005 216 128 Lebanon Lebanon is among the oldest sites of wine production in the world. The Israelite prophet Hosea (780– 725 B.C.) is said to have urged his followers to return to Yahweh so that "they will blossom as the vine, and their fragrance will be like the wine of Lebanon". The Phoenicians of its coastal strip were instrumental in spreading wine and viticulture throughout the Mediterranean in ancient times. Despite the many conflicts of the region, the country has an annual production of about 600,000 cases of wine. Recently the sector has been witnessing an unprecedented growth. The number of wineries went from 5 in 1998 to over 30 nowadays. However, techniques has been invented to produce fortified wine by the addition of alcohol in the wine at the beginning of the fermentation with the aim of arresting it and keeping the natural sugar present in the juice.
