(OVER)
Candidats à l'élection du Conseil d'Administration de l'IFOPA
Ali Scully
My name is Ali Scully and I am an only child of a patient with FOP. I am 21 years old and live in Cincinnati, Ohio with
my mom, Jessica, who has had the disease since she was 3 years old. I myself do not have the disease, but I see on a daily
basis what a patient with FOP goes through. I have been my mom’s part-time care giver since I was 15, and been with her
through all of her medical issues and hospital stays. I am finishing up my undergraduate work at the University of
Cincinnati majoring in Pre-Med, Biology, and Psychology. I have always had an interest in the medical field since I was a
child and my goal is to become a pediatrician and work with children who have disabilities. I currently work for the
Hamilton County Board of MRDD; my position there is to help people maintain their independence by creating personal
care plans, help with adaptive equipment and additional services that help make their lives easier. In my spare time, I
volunteer at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital, do photography, read literature, and travel. I am always willing to give advice
and help those in need.
Moira Liljesthrom
I am president of Fundación FOP in Argentina. I live with my husband and our two children in Buenos Aires. My
smallest child was diagnosed with FOP in 2001 when he was 4 years old. I Moira2 am an architect and have a master's
degree in Urban and Regional Planning. I have worked as a researcher since 1990 and as a professor at the Universidad de
Buenos Aires since 1995. Since my son was diagnosed, my husband and I began to work for the FOP cause in our
country, trying to spread the word among the community and health professionals to get FOP better known and contribute
to the diagnostic process. Since 2007 I have been ambassador of the IPC for Argentina. My goal is that FOP will be much
better known and that in my country we can have an expert team of health professionals to help people affected.
Christine Ford
I am the maternal aunt of IFOPA member Jeannie Peeper, and I have been keenly aware of the devastating effects of FOP
for many years. I am well acquainted with the organization’s work and goals. During my career, I managed two family
businesses—an auto parts store and a flower/gift shop specializing in event and wedding planning. I also spent 22 years
working for the Los Angeles County Employees Retirement Association (LACERA), which serves approximately
100,000 employees. I began my career with LACERA in its Member Services Division and rose to become a Senior
Retirement Specialist. As such, I dealt with legal and procedural issues, and I trained staff in retirement and health
benefits. Since retiring to Tampa seven years ago, I have volunteered at Hillsborough Children’s House and with Meals
on Wheels. I have previously served as a board member and I look forward to working with the Board again to expand our
opportunities to serve the FOP community and raise funding as medical research develops new avenues for treatment.
Daniela Becker
I am from Erlangen, Germany, but have lived in Orlando, Florida for the past five years. I am a student at the Rollins
College Crummer Graduate School of Business in Winter Park, Florida, where I am pursuing my M.B.A with
concentrations in marketing and finance. Prior to starting my M.B.A., I completed a B.A. in International Relations, also
at Rollins College. In addition to my studies, I have completed internships in several different fields, including Human
Resources, Strategic Planning & Controlling, Marketing Communications, and Key Account Management. I also have
previous experience as a Research Assistant for the Protection Project at Johns Hopkins University in Washington, D.C.
I first became involved with the IFOPA through the Rollins College Philanthropy Center, and am very honored to serve as
a member of the board of such a dedicated and driven organization. My activities on the board focus on the IFOPA's
translation project, where my goal is to make the IFOPA's materials available in as many languages as possible in order to
best serve the needs of our international FOP community. I also very much enjoy working with the IFOPA’s International
President’s Council (IPC), which has given me the great opportunity to get to know many wonderful and dedicated
international IFOPA members. I would feel privileged to continue working with the Board to help the IFOPA continue its
outstanding work in providing member support programs and funding research to cure FOP.
