Team Manager: Barbara Graham
Holly Cinnamon, Theatre/Dance
Holly Cinnamon recently
completed her Bachelor of Arts
Honours degree in Drama at the
University of Alberta. Though
her primary artistic medium is
theatre, Holly merges acting,
dance, music, movement, images,
and sounds to create multilayered performance events.
Her work as a director includes Qualia, a
collective creation in the New Works Festival
in Edmonton, and Bolero at the University of
Alberta. Holly has also performed as an actor
on stages across Edmonton.
Calum Graham, Music
Calum is a musician from
High River. He is the first-place
winner of the Calgary Stampede
Talent Search and the Canadian
Talent Competition. He won
the prestigious Canadian
Guitar Festival with his own
compositions. He performed at
the 2010 Winter Olympics, has
auditioned for Disney Music and
Hollywood Records, and performed at some
of Canada’s renowned folk festivals. Calum’s
first recording is Sunny Side Up.

Taryn Kneteman, Visual Art
Taryn is in the Bachelor of Fine
Arts program at the University
of Alberta. She has experience
in two- and three-dimensional
artistic media, and explores
visual ideas through painting and
printmaking. Her work delves
into the relationship between
the body and space. Taryn is the student
representative on the board of the Society
of Northern Alberta Print-Artists. She has
exhibited in Nextfest, a multidisciplinary arts
festival. Taryn hopes to pursue a Master of
Fine Arts in painting or printmaking.

Claire Butterfield, Music
Claire Butterfield has a passion
for all types of music. She began
studying violin with Yasuko
Eastman at age five, later adding
viola, and started piano at age
seven. She has sung in semiprofessional and professional
choirs since she was 10. She
played percussion in high school,
and continues to play guitar, write songs,
and sing jazz. After a year of studying piano
under Dr. Corey Hamm at the University of
British Columbia, Claire is taking a break
from school to release her travel bug, but
looks forward to picking up her studies again
next year.

Claire Butterfield est passionnée

Andrew is finishing his acting
studies at the University of
British Columbia. He has been
involved in the theatre, film, and
television industries on a local and
national scale over the last 12
years. This has led him to work
with companies such as Metro
Theatre, Theatre Under the Stars,
Applause! Musicals, Koba Entertainment,
the Pacific National Exhibition, Showstoppers
Performance Troupe, Gotta Sing Gotta
Dance, CBC Television, CBC bold, and DAE
for the Opening and Closing Ceremonies of
the Vancouver Winter Olympics.

she has extensive recording and
touring plans.

Andrea studies voice, dance, and

of Tomorrow. She contributed
to her school’s win of the
2010 Rainbow Stage Scholarship with her
performance as Velma in Chicago.

In 2011, she will receive her
Bachelor of Fine Arts from l’École

Jessie Babin, Visual Art
Jessie is a visual artist from
Dalhousie. Her media of choice
include pencil, ink, conté, and
coloured pencils. In 2007,
she was awarded the Young
Entrepreneur of the Year for
Kartoonz, her drawing classes
for children. She has participated in the
Jeux de la Francophonie Canadienne in the
visual arts category, winning best overall.
She attends NSCAD University in Halifax
and plans to pursue a career in drawing and
illustration.

Alyson Miller, Dance
Alyson’s passion is dance. She
is a two-time Dance World Cup
Champion in the senior ballet
solo division and was awarded a

division. Alyson has trained with
a variety of programs, including
the past two years with the Paris
Summer Dance Tour from which
she has received another invitation to attend.
In 2010, she earned the dancer of the year
award at a regional competition.

Cynthia Aubé Boulay, Dance
Born in Petit-Rocher, Cynthia has
trained in jazz, contemporary,
modern, lyrical, ballet, and
hip-hop dance. As a long-time
teacher for BoGeste Dance
School, she has honed her skills
as an artist and pursued dance
professionally. She has performed
in Toronto and Cancún, Mexico,
and is a member of Evoke Movement Dance
Theatre, a contemporary company.

College. He has worked with

to develop Message from the
Future, a theatre piece for young
people commissioned by the
Newfoundland and Labrador Department of
Justice.

Danielle O’Connor, Literary Art
Danielle is a creative writer from
Corner Brook and a student at
Memorial University. In 2009,
she won a Newfoundland and
Labrador Arts and Letters Award
in the Junior Prose category for
her short story Left Out. Her
short stories have appeared in a
creative writing journal and in a
local newspaper column. She has
read selections of her writing at
a showcase for emerging writers. Danielle
participated in the 2007 Canada Winter
Games as a member of the Newfoundland
speed skating team.

Dana Polakoff, Visual Art
Dana is from Inuvik and
Yellowknife where she was active
in many sports including hockey,
speed skating, and figure skating.
Dana competed in the Arctic
Winter Games before having
to give up sports due to knee
injuries. She has since discovered
photography and she received
first place and three honourable
mentions in a magazine photo competition.
Dana is a member of the Frozen Eyes
Photography Society and her photos are in a
showing at the Yellowknife Museum.

Gregory Palmer, Dance
Greg is a performing artist with
training in all types of performing
arts, including dancing, singing,
and acting, and has spent many
summers at camps and intensive
courses to hone his dancing
abilities, including a session at
the Royal Winnipeg Ballet School.
He has performed lead roles in
musicals and ballets and has sung
with the Annapolis Valley Honour Choir.
Most recently, he performed the title role in
the Cadance Academy’s The Nutcracker.

Abraham picked up the craft of
jewellery making by watching
his father and then honing
his skills. He has a passion for
creating designs inspired by
Inuit traditions, wildlife, and the
land. He has won awards for
his Inuksuk and reverse-Inuksuk
jewellery designs in an arts and
crafts competition. Abraham enjoys stone
carving, creating miniatures that challenge
his skill and creativity. As a hobby, he writes,
sings, and performs his own music in his first
language, Inuktitut.

Abraham is an emerging artist
who uses pencils and markers
to create detailed drawings
and prints depicting the nature
around him. His training began
at home, where he was taught
by his father, and expanded to
taking art classes at the local
school. He is involved in events
that will help nurture his skill, including a
workshop in lithograph printmaking and the
Nunavut Arts & Crafts Association Summer
Showcase.
Abraham Iksiraq, Arts visuels
Abraham est un nouvel artiste

Ita is a performing artist, throat
singer, and drum dancer from
Iqaluit. She began learning
her skills at school and is very
interested in continuing to study
these disciplines, as they are an
important part of her culture. For
three years, she has participated in a music
camp that specializes in throat singing and
drum dancing.

Jacob Hughes, Visual Art
Jacob is a visual artist who
attended the Etobicoke School of
the Arts in Toronto and is now a
board member there. While there,
he directed an interdisciplinary
performance piece for the annual
showcase. Recently, he’s been
accepted into the School of the
Art Institute of Chicago and
the Gerrit Rietveld Academie in
Amsterdam. Jacob’s accomplishments include
appearing on Global News and City TV for
Nuit Blanche, receiving the Patrick West
Award for Excellence in Visual Arts 2010, and
receiving the Proficiency Award for Visual
Arts 2010.

Michael Caccamo, Theatre
Michael is from Oakville and
performs on stage, on camera,
and in a voice-over studio. He has
been in many school productions
and has trained under the
directors at West End Studio
Theatre, where he is doing his
co-op while taking theatre
and film studies at McMaster.
Michael’s passion for performing
is parallel to his fervour for organized
sports. He is a sports analyst for Rink Side
Productions and plays hockey while balancing
school and acting.

Studies, where she worked as
a peer tutor and self-produced,
marketed, choreographed,
and performed in a full-length
contemporary dance show. Jamee
was one of 12 dancers in the
school’s touring ensemble. She
has worked with independent
companies like Back Burner Productions,
tenderMess, and Cadence Ballet. She has
been a lead with La Scala Opera Company
and the Canadian Royal Opera Company.
Jamee just finished performing in Dawson
City with the Diamond Tooth Gerties.

across Prince Edward Island,

Peter’s Courthouse Theatre, and
performs weekly at the Peake’s
Quay Wharf with Gordon Belsher
and Todd Maclean. Her first CD,
This Moment With You, came out
in 2008 and features original songs.
Samantha MacKay, Dance
Samantha focuses on traditional
step dancing and studies
clogging, Irish, and Highland
dancing. She is in the graduating
class at Kensington Intermediate
Senior High and received her
British Association of Teachers
of Dance Associates certificate
for traditional step dancing.
Samantha has danced at numerous ceilidhs
and benefits, at the Parliament Buildings, at a
talent showcase in Toronto, and for Governor
General Adrienne Clarkson.

Ten years ago, Jean-Félix
began taking circus lessons in
his hometown of St-Jean-surRichelieu. His creativity sparked,
he also studied theatre arts,
piano, and drums. Over the years,
Jean-Félix has shared his talents
by becoming a street entertainer
and by teaching theatre and
circus arts. His unique passions
won him second place at the national finals
of Cégep en Spectacle last year.

Hailing from Saguenay, LisaMarie began her studies in Art
and IT at Alma College in 2008.
With a passion for visual arts,
her talent has won her many
contests throughout her studies
and led to various visual concept
projects for the College. In 2010,
she was awarded the first prize at
the Intercollegiate Fine Arts Exhibition for her
work called Vrombissement, uniting kinetic
art and lower frequencies. Lisa-Marie now
aims to succeed with a career in the
visual arts.

Lucy is an actor, theatre producer,
and improviser from Regina.
In 2008, she graduated from
the Globe Theatre Actors’
Conservatory program. Since
then, she has performed on
Globe Theatre’s main stage in
A Midsummer Night’s Dream,
The Alice Nocturne, and Peter
Pan, and in A Christmas Carol
at Persephone Theatre. Lucy wrote and
performed in a one-woman show entitled
Bertha. Lucy is set to co-direct and create a
show for The Fusion Project as part of Globe’s
Shumiatcher Sandbox Series.

Whitney is a singer from
Saskatoon and began her
formal training at the age of
six. She has competed in the
Saskatoon and Regina music
festivals and completed her Royal
Conservatory grade 8 exams in
both piano and voice. Whitney
studies music performance at the University
of Saskatchewan; she aspires to complete her
Master’s degree and then pursue a career
in opera.

Whitney est une chanteuse

Valérie trains about 15 hours a
week in dance styles that include
ballet, contemporary, jazz, hip
hop, and other street styles like
popping, locking, and house.
She started teaching dance two
years ago and is a choreographer.
She represented Yukon at the
2010 Arctic Winter Games and
performed at the 2010 Winter
Olympic Games. The latter resulted in a
stay in New York, where she assisted a
hip-hop instructor at the Broadway Bound
International convention.

Valérie s’entraîne environ 15
heures par semaine dans plusieurs
styles de danse dont le ballet, la
danse contemporaine, la danse
jazz, le hip hop et d’autres styles
de rue dont le « popping », le
« locking » et le « house ». Elle a
commencé à enseigner la danse
il y a deux ans et est maintenant
chorégraphe. Elle a représenté
le Yukon aux Jeux d’hiver de l’Arctique de
2010 et a fait un spectacle lors des Jeux
olympiques d’hiver de 2010. Cette dernière
expérience lui a permis de faire un séjour à
New York où elle a assisté un moniteur de
hip hop à la Broadway Bound International
Convention.
Clancy McInnis, Music
Clancy’s life changed when a
friend forced him to pick up
a guitar and play. Since then,
he plays at every available
opportunity and spends his
summers playing and singing
along riverbanks and on
street corners.
Jada Powell, Dance
Jada has training in Cecchetti,
Russian ballet, point, street jazz,
lyrical, contemporary, popping,
locking, house, ballroom, and
other dance styles. She trains
up to 16 hours a week as part
of a pre-professional program,
and has been teaching and
choreographing children’s dance
classes for the last three years.
Jada has won awards for her choreography
and solo performances, earned convention
scholarships, and represented Yukon at the
2010 Vancouver Olympics.
Clancy McInnis, Musique
La vie de Clancy a changé
lorsqu’un ami l‘a forcé à prendre
