Firstly the body should introduce a list of the points that develop the main idea of the essay. Each individual paragraph should be focused on an idea or point. The point will be elaborated and assertions should be supported with evidence. Transition words should link the paragraphs together and make the essay easier to read. The conclusion should refer back to the introduction and have a “wrap-up sentence” at the end. The conclusion should re-estate the strongest points of the essay in different words. The candidate should give a personal opinion or suggest a plan for action if the essay title is of a nature to require one. FORM (2 points) Ease and speed of reading. The meaning of each sentence should be understood at the first reading. Any sentence that needs to be read twice should be sanctioned. Grammar and syntax Sophistication of vocabulary and appropriateness of register. Use of phrasal verbs and/or expressions.
