(en quête d’Italie)
Un film documentaire de Pierre-Yves Moulin
ophie, personnage principal du film, est Italienne de la troisième génération et
issue de la communauté grenobloise. Elle se trouve à 25 ans devant les choix
essentiels de sa vie d'adulte. Elle veut en finir avec les phantasmes et se
réapproprier enfin son histoire italienne. Elle est cisaillée entre les attitudes contradictoires
de sa tante et sa grand-mère, toutes deux hantées par une image de l’Italie : adulée et
nostalgique pour l’une, haïe et refoulée pour l’autre… "L'héritière, en quête d’Italie"
nous parle du fort besoin identitaire que les populations transplantées ou exilées
ressentent, et de la façon dont elles le traite et le transmette de génération en génération.
Pierre-Yves Moulin (prix Jean Lods de la SCAM, 1999 pour “Le fils du pressing”) propose
à travers le portrait de Sophie, un triptyque sensible, tout en nuances et en touches délicates.

Looking for Italy
Un documentary by Pierre-Yves Moulin
ophie, the main character of the documentary, is an Italian girl of the third generation
living in Grenoble’s "Little Italy". At 25, facing the vital choices of her adult life,
she wants to stop dreaming, finally regaining her italian past. Sophie is caught
between the contradictory attitudes of her grand-mother and her aunt. Both are haunted
by the image of Italy - made up of worship and nostalgy for one, of hatred and refusal
for the other…"Looking for Italy" deals with the strong quest for identity felt by migrating
populations and people in exile - and with their way of handling it and transmitting it
from one generation to another. Pierre-Yves Moulin (Jean Lods Award, 1999 for "The
Son of the Laundry", ARTE) paints the portrait of Sophie and through her a sensitive triptyc,
made with a light-handed touch and colorful nuances.
