Le Corbusier used these nuances to lend atmosphere to the white spaces that dominated his early arhitecture. They correspond to light tints of the pigments Le Corbusier referred to as the „grande gamme“ or major series of architecturally relevant colors. Nearly all of these shades were made using natural pigments; they correspond to the the colors that dominate in nature - sky, water, sand, clay, stones, landscapes. The terms „Constructive, dynamic and decorative colors“ refer to brighter colors of higher saturation. The ones made from natural pigments were used to correct proportions, to emphasize or conceal - these are the constructive shades. The ones made from synthetic pigments were used to heighten constrasts, to express joy and for artistic effects. Note that the pigment determines the effect and the function. Color is used as a construction material. kt C O L O R References: S1 = Salubra wallpaper sample 1932, S2 = Salubra wallpaper sample 1959, LR = wall sample Villa La Roche 1926 .
