1.LCdrCunninghamwillretireon16August2016after25yearsofadventurefilledservicewith
allthreebranches(RCN,CA,andRCAF)andworkingatthetacticaltostrategiclevel.
2.Daphnejoinedon6June1991fromSaskatoonandcompletedbasicinChilliwack.Shespent
twoyearsattheRoyalRoadsMilitaryCollegeinVictoriaandgraduatedinMay1995fromthe
RoyalMilitaryCollegeinKingston.UpongraduationshewaspostedtoVictoriaasaNaval
LogisticsOfficerwiththerequiredtripstoBordenfortraining.WhileontheWestCoast,shehad
thegreatpleasureofsailingonboardHMCSANNAPOLIS,HMCSPROTECTEUR,HMCS
ALGONQUINandHMCSVANCOUVER(twice)toexoticlocationsofHawaii,Guam,Korea,
Singapore,andIndonesia.AshorepostingsincludedMARPACandCANFLTPACwithtravelto
AustraliaandNewZealandastheForwardLogisticsOfficerforHMCSCALGARY.
3.In2001sheadventuredinlandtotheJointSupportGroup(JSG)inKingston.Duringthistime,
shehadsometaskingsanddeployments:LogisticsOfficerfortheDARTWarehouseinTrenton
(sixmonths),LogisticsOfficerfortheForwardLiaisonTeamtotheCombinedTaskForce-150in
Bahrain(Oct-Dec2002),andCampMirageOperationsOfficer(Jan-Mar2003).Thenextdesert
adventurewastheMissionDrawdownTeamtoKabul(Jun-Oct2004),whichwasafantastic
teamandacastofcharacters.SheremainedattheJSGunderthesupervisionoftheWarlock
andtrainedwiththeCovenuntil2005thenattendedayearlongFrenchcourse.In2006Daphne
hadtopaythepiperforalltheadventuresandwaspostedtoOttawaattheNavyStaffto
DirectorMaritimeMaterielOperationalSupport(nowDirectorNavalLogistics).
4.Acareerhighlightcamein2009beingStaffOfficertotheChiefoftheDefenceStaffGeneral
Natynczyk,whereshealsohadagreatopportunitytobetheLiaisonOfficerfortheAfghanistan
ChristmasRoadShow.Alsoin2009shemarriedaTACHELAEREOfficerresultinginmany
postings.In2010DaphnewenttoEdmontonastheG1andHQCOfortheAreaSupportGroup
(now3CdnDivSupportGroup).In2011shewastheStaffOfficertotheChiefofStaffat1
CanadianAirDivisioninWinnipeg,whichresultedinaSeaLogOfficersupportinganArmyVan
DootosupporttheAirForceHQ.In2012offtotheCanadianForcesCollegeinToronto,butwas
actuallyonmaternityleavewiththearrivalofherfirstdaughterinSeptember.2013itwasback
toOttawaintheNavalStaffDirectorNavalRequirements,whichwascutshortbythearrivalof
herseconddaughterinApril2014.Herfinalpostingwasin2015toDirectorNavalStrategy.
5.Ithasbeenacrazyadventuregoingaroundtheworldandmeetinggreatfolksateverystop.
Daphne,husbandLColWesCunningham,andthegirls(WynneandLiv)aremovingtoKingston
on20Jul,whereWeswillbethe1WingA4andHQCO,andDaphnewillcompleteschoolingfor
thehomebusinessinwebdesignandenjoytimewiththegirls.

interarmées(GSI)àKingston.Pendantcettepériode,elleaeffectuédesmissionsetdes
déploiementscommeofficierdelalogistiqueàl’entrepôtdel’EICCàTrenton(sixmois),comme
officierdelalogistiquepourl’ÉquipedelaliaisonavancéedelaForceopérationnelle
multinationale150àBahreïn(octobre-décembre2002),etcommeofficierdesopérationsdu
CampMirage(janvier-mars2003).Saprochaineaventuredansledésertaétéentantque
membredel’équipederéductiondelamissionàKaboul(juin-octobre2004),avecuneéquipe
formidableettouteunebrochettedejoyeuxpersonnages.ElleestrestéedansleGSIsous
l’égidedusorcier(Warlock)etapoursuivisoninstructionavecleclanjusqu’en2005,oùellea
participéàuncoursdefrançaisd’uneduréed’unan.En2006,Daphneadûpayerpouravoir
vécuautantd’aventuresenétantaffectéeàOttawa,commemembredel’état-majordela
MarineduDirecteur–Soutienopérationnelmatérielmaritime(maintenantappeléDirecteur,
Logistiquenavale).
4.L’undesmomentsfortsdelacarrièredeDaphneestvenuen2009,lorsqu’elleaétéofficier
d’état-majorduchefd’état-majordeladéfense,legénéralNatynczyk,cequiluiaégalement
donnéuneoccasionexceptionnelled’agircommeofficierdeliaisondelatournéedespectacles
deNoëlenAfghanistan.Toujoursen2009,elleaépouséunofficierduGAEROETAH,cequia
donnélieuàplusieursaffectations.En2010,DaphneestalléeàEdmonton,entantqueG1et
cmdtQGduGroupedesoutiendusecteur(aujourd’huileGroupedesoutiendela3DivCA).En
2011,elleaétéofficierd’état-majorduchefd’état-majordela1reDivisionaérienneduCanada
àWinnipeg,pourensuiteêtreofficierdelalogistique–Meràl’appuid’unmembredu22de
l’Armée,pourappuyerunQGdelaForceaérienne.En2012,elleaétéaffectéeauCollègedes
ForcescanadiennesàToronto,affectationinterrompueparuncongédematernitépour
l’arrivéedesapremièrefille,enseptembre2013.Puis,elleestretournéeàOttawapourfaire
partiedel’état-majornavalduDirecteur–Besoinsnavals(Mer),justeavantl’arrivéedesa
deuxièmefille,enavril2014.Sadernièreaffectation,en2015,l’amenéeauDirecteur–
StratégiedelaMarine.
5.Cefutunefolleaventuredeparcourirlemondeetderencontrerdesgensformidablesà
chaquearrêt.Daphne,sonmarileLcolWesCunningham,etleursfilles(WynneetLiv),
déménagerontàKingstonle20juillet,oùWesseraA4dela1reEscadreetcmdtQG.Daphne,
quantàelle,terminerauncoursdeconceptionWebpourtravailleràlamaisonetprévoit
s’occuperdesfilles.
