EXPRESS DELIVERY OF PARCELS.

THE Government of Her Britannic Majesty and the Government of the French Eepublic,
having thought well to introduce into their mutual relations
the express delivery service for
parcels, have agreed as follows :--

ARTICLE I.
ARTICLE I.
1. -Parcels sent by parcel post
between Great Britain and Ire-,
land and the British Colonies
and possessions, which admit
express delivery, on the one
hand, and the mainland of
France, on the other hand,
shall, at the request of the
senders, be delivered by special
messenger immediately after
arrival at the office of destination, if the latter has a delivery,
service.

ARTICLE IT.
ARTICLE II.
Express parcels shall be sabject to a special fee of 5d.
(50 centimes), which shall be
payable in advance by the
sender in addition to the
postage.
This fee shall be
assigned to the country of destination of the parcel.

AILTICLE III.
1. When the residence of the
addressee of an express parcel
is at a distance from the office
of delivery, that office may
collect fro n t the addressee for
the delivery of a parcel a sttpplernentar-y charge not exceeding the fee fixed for such dolively, according to the inland
tariff of the country of destination, less the special fee paid by
the sender.
2. Only one attempt shall be
mado to deliver an express
parcel by special messenger.
After a fruitless attempt, such
a parcel shall be treated as an
ordinary parcel.

When an express parcel shall
be re-directed to another country
before any attempt has been
made to deliver it by special
messenger, the fee paid by the
sender shall be credited to the
new country of destination, provided that the latter admits
express delivery. Otherwise the
fee shall be retained by the

1. The detailed arrangements
for the transmission of the
express parcels to which the
present Agreement applies shall
be settled by the Post Offices of
the two countries.
2. The present Agreement
shall come into operation on a
day to be agreed upon by these
two Post Offices.
3. Moreover, power is reserved to the said Post Offices

Right Honourable Sir E. Monson, Her Majesty's Ambassador
Extraordinary and Plonipotentiary to the President of the
trench Republic, and his Exceilency M. Gabriel Hanotaux,
Minister of Foreign Affairs of
the French Republic, duly authorized to this effect, have
drawn up the present Agree,went, to which they have affixed
their seals.
