 Husbandry: rearing of marine/freshwater fishes and invertebrates, algae cultures.
 Behavioral analysis: field- and laboratory based studies (social and fitness-related behaviors, antipredator
and predator behaviors).
 Organismal bioassays: embryotoxicity and metamorphosis bioassays, immobilization and reproduction
bioassays, physiological responses (e.g., in ovo ventilatory rate in cuttlefish embryos).
 In vivo toxicity bioassays: biomarkers of cell oxidative stress and detoxification (catalase, GST),
peroxidation of membranes (TBARS), neurotransmitter (monoamines, metabolites and receptors) and stress
hormone (cortisol, corticosterone) quantification.
 In vitro toxicity bioassays: cell viability (MTT test), stability of cell membranes (Neutral Red Retention
assay), immunotoxicity (phagocytic activity, ROS production).
 Technical skills: enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA), radioimmunoassay (RIA), High
Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC), flow cytometry, RNA extraction and PCR, qRT-PCR.
 Image analysis: GIMP and ImageJ softwares, Jwatcher (ethograms).
 Bio-statistics: Statview, Statistica, StatXact, R soft
