Strict rules and regulations are set by the TAAF administrations to fish in these zones: Each vessel must have a fish controller on board. Fishing season runs from September 1 to August 31 each year. The ships make 3 to 4 fishing trips during each season. Complementary to their work as fishermen, the crews are strongly involved in the protection of the resource & the environment and fight against IUU fishing. 09/10 MASCAREIGNES III In 2013, the Kerguelen Islands fishery received independent MSC certification as a sustainable and well managed fishery. Crozet is currently undergoing full assessment. 07/08 ILE DE LA REUNION Crozet and Kerguelen fishing zones are managed and regulated by M.N.H.N (Museum national d’Histoire Naturelle) and the TAAF administration, who define the SARPC TAC (Total Admissible of Capture).
