Welcome to
Cégep Heritage College
Cégep Heritage College is the only public,
tuition-free, Anglophone CEGEP in Western
Quebec. Our state-of-the-art facilities
are located in Gatineau, just five minutes
from downtown Ottawa, in the heart of the
National Capital Region, bordering scenic
Gatineau Park.
We offer 2-year Pre-University programs that
prepare you for further university studies, and
3-year Career programs for immediate entry into
the labour force or further university studies.
Both types of programs lead to a Diploma of
College Studies (DEC). Also, our innovative
Centre for Continuing Education offers programs
leading to Attestations of College Studies (AEC),
as well as evening and weekend courses.
Program Overview
A competency-based 3-year program, the Early
Childhood Care and Education (ECCE) program
reflects the following values about student
learning, the learning environment and the
student’s personal growth: education, vocation
and life are inseparable; individual experiences
and backgrounds enrich the learning climate;
learning is a life-long pursuit.
Graduates are able to design early childhood
care and education programs for children up to 12
years of age in both childcare and the elementary
school system. They can communicate with
children, parents and co-workers effectively in
English and adequately in French. They are
prepared for a wide variety of career options
involving work with families and children, and
demonstrate professional practice.
Career Opportunities
and Education Path
Graduates master the skills required to enter a
variety of educational career paths. They are
qualified to work with children from infancy to 12
years of age in a variety of child care settings,
including elementary school classrooms.
Graduates may work in administrative positions
that deal with children and their education and
care. They can also teach internationally, work
with children with special needs, and can pursue
further studies and careers in psychology, social
work and education. Cégep Heritage College
has developed articulation agreements with
university partners that give graduates advanced
standing in related degree programs.
