“Hello! I grew up in Hampshire in the south of England. A degree
in International Relations from the London School of Economics
and an 18-month world trip set me up for a career in travel
writing. After ten years at Lonely Planet and Holiday Which?
magazine, I decamped to Switzerland, where my first job was
manager of the Stauffacher English Bookshop in Bern. As well as
grappling with German grammar, re-learning to cross the road
properly, and overcoming my innate desire to form an orderly
queue, I have spent the last few years exploring the bits of
Switzerland I’d never heard of before. And eating lots of
chocolate.
I am now a full-time writer, occasional radio guest, member of
the swissinfo Public Council and permanent expat.”
Gordon Douglas, co-president of the MIB, first met Diccon Bewes in 2013 at the Léman International
Fair, after he had just written his first book, Swiss Watching. Now he is a celebrated author of four
books about Switzerland, three of which are now also published in French and in German. We are
delighted to have Diccon as a guest speaker at the MIB.

Chaque membre peut inviter une personne au tarif membre.
Registration & Cancelations: Members and guests, who registered for the event but are prevented from
attending, will be reimbursed if written notification is given no later than on Friday prior to the event. Members
and guests attending without prior registration or without prepayment will be charged the non-member rate
(CHF 90.-). Each member can invite one person at the member rate.
